AMAZING!!!! You've became my second favorite dancer!!! I'll learn this coreograpy, I loved the dolly parts a lot! Check Haalima's gothic performances, she's hungarian, and a fantastic dancer too!!
You are so creative! It's all I can do to just keep good posture dancing... how you manage to create such unique concepts and story lines never ceases to amaze me.
I don't understand your style of dancing. You say this is belly dancing, but maybe I am missing out on something. Please help me to understand because I haven't heard good things about your dancing and want to grasp it better.
Thank you for question. This was a theatrical fusion BD piece. My concept was a dolly (perhaps somewhat forlorn & demented) coming to life, awkwardly in broken/hesitated movements, adjusting one's parts, coming into self and awareness, then upon getting up moves more smoothly, celebrating her discovery, then breaks down and falls apart. The music I feel is about a naive girl who is attracted by something beyond her, tries to be something she's not, & is wrecked.
Supposedly, this song is about a boyfriend of hers (the writer), at the time, who had a cocaine addiction (hence the "bleach white sand") and she's trying to coax him out of it.
And actually in retrospect, pretty much reflects an emotional period I was going through. It's just one exploration through dance, as each piece is different, has a different story. I recommend checking out one of my more recent pieces for a better scope of my style - the Rakkasah East "Gothic Oriental" in my favorites, it was posted by the videographer.
How does not hearing good things calculate in to the rest of your question? Art is relative and in the eye of the beholder. You either see it or you don't. As for me I see art and this is coming from someone who has had a few years of modern dance behind her in contrast to all the conforming styles like ballet for instance. Just keep an open mind.
Very creative. Awesome performance, enjoyed watching it at the festival. I have a rakkasah dvd i would like to put up, but can't seem to get it to download on my computer! What do you do?
This is one of my favorite performances by Tempest. Every aspect of it is absolutely gorgeous!

Sometimes, I lose sight of where I want to go or if I want to continue with belly dancing, but videos like this are very encouraging and inspiring!

But, honestly, I like your version better. ;)
