  • Can't help but smile to this : ). What a great soundtrack too!

  • BABY, SUGAR

  • I was watching Car Wash last night and I heard this song play and the first thing that came to my mind was Marsha Ambrosius sampled this on one of her mixtapes. So I had to come here and hear the whole song. I'm not from this era but I have heard a lot of Rose Royce music and I haven't heard a song that I dislike yet. They were bad!!

  • Comment removed

  • i dont know how old i was but this is wht i call music they dont make them like they use to much love to the down loader

  • I liked this song the most off the soundtrack

  • @UsernameJones ME TOO!!!!!!!! LOVE THE SCENE AT THE END, WHEN DUDES GIRL SHOWS UP IN THE YELLOW MUSTANG....!

  • @junglekiDD55 I like the scene where the song came on, the one where the boss's mistress was getting wooed by the smooth talking dude in the suit after she realized she was being used by the boss.

  • @UsernameJones YEAH.. THAT SCENE WAS NICE TOO! I ALSO REMEMBER DANNY DEVITO IN THE O.G. MOVIE, BUT IVE SEEN CAR WASH LIKE 3 TIMES SINCE THEN & THE SCENES OF HIM AS MGR OF THE BURGER JOINT@DA CAR WASH WERE EDITTED OUT... WHY?

  • @junglekiDD55 no clue

  • Don't Play with my TC (Car Wash)....He's my man!! lol ! Love this song...thks 4 posting

  • Now that I'm a little older this more to me then before. I guess some people grown and some people stay the same.

  • This song reminds me of those 70's women who had long bush on their heaven caves... Gotta LOVE 70s Porn!

  • one off song ,tingles in my heart,

  • Love it!!

  • Classic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LOL, I love how older folks bitch on Youtube about how much the current generation's music sucks.

  • @perrytma

Because your generation's music does suck, and when we knew something sucked we didn't try to defend it by saying "don't listen to it" and when Black Performers came onstage to play at award shows they didn't bring pimps, hookers or ruse curse words. All those acts old skol bought was their talent and passion to the stage unlike a couple of 'gurls' today who shake their asses in high heels to get attention. Your generation's music sucks and has no soul.

  • #CLASSIC

  • Yes baby. Classics!!!!

  • Did you know Norman Whitfeild wrote the classic hits for the mighty TEMPTATIONS!~Ain't to proud to beg,. and one of the greatest songs ever written ,Just My Imagination~Now you can hear the flavor~when you listen, if Norman had not left Motown ,it's likely this one would have been a Temptation Hit!~ for sure with Eddie Kendricks doing the lead!~ WOW!~can you hear what 'm saying?

oh! almost forgot, Ball of confusion, cloud 9, runaway child, it's summer,I wish it would rain, don't let the jonses..

  • classic song brill thanks a million for playing love it :-)))

  • Marsha Ambrosius - Co-Star

  • One of the few lead vocals done by my friend, guitarist, Kenji Brown. That's him doing the 1st lead and the ad-lib duet with Kenny Copeland on the vamp.

  • At 51 yrs old I was a teen when this came out and I made out with it, ok no laughin now, cause i still listen to this today, the words, are tight, this song was perfect, cause I had a lot of funn back in the 70's that was the thang back then, making out with the music, Today's Music just sucks, would not make out with any of the songs of today,The songs are not true to the heart, all talk, all cursing, all degrading of women,, so sad what society listens to. 70's is where it's at.

  • @discolarry124 hey boss i hear you.I'm 44 and i grew up on all of the 60's-90's r&b,soul, funk,& hip-hop.I agree they don't make music like the 70's & 80's when it comes to slow jams or love songs.well since you don't really listen to any of today's music and really neither do i,but they don't produce love songs anymore. It's just watered down garbage that promote ignorance & stupidity.bitches,ho's,cars, money, bling, strip clubs, beef, houses and other meaningless garbage.there's a few today who r ok

  • @discolarry124 The whole thing was meant to go down hill, such is the faith of any artificial bubble. Its not just the songs that went down hill, what about the movies and the fashion. Now ripped jeans sell for $300, and even then you must makesure to buy one that sags to reveal dirty under wear.

The whole culture is not human, its Alien in nature, the trick started with songs saying, love your woman more than good or God, that was 50 yrs ago, now it shows its true face, no love at ALL!!!.

  • @discolarry124

Now its Shows its true face, no love at all, just WAR WAR WAR. Thats what its been planning since it gave us that song called "My Endless Love". Any patient person who spent enough time to observe the shadows, could have told you in 1968 that Diana Ross and all the rest of them were lying. They all work for the pentagon. And you all know what pentagon works for.

Now in the dawn of Amargedon, you might hear the true voice of those singing those love songs soon.

  • @discolarry124 Very true... Happened to me too... those were the days when songs/music was really cool... it was our era, now it's our children's generation that have taken music onto the next level. Yet, I still yearn for the 70's music... early 80's too... showing my age now... yes, am 50 and heading fast for 51 now ;-)x Divorced Mum and love Rose Royce's version of "Love don't live here anymore"... I wonder what that beautiful singer is doing these days? xxx

  • @discolarry124

I can relate to your post. I loe this soulful music, because its unfiltered emotions, which in turn make you appreciate it so much more. Grew up in the 90's, but oldies music takes it 8 times out of 10.

  • The 70's .......!!!!!! sigh!!!

  • this joint right here is slick...how it's managed to be out of my life all this time is unreal to me...a true mystery.

  • Beyond Beautiful....

  • dig

  • Oooh what memories of being young back in the day...love this melody...gr8 times growing up with Rose Royce on the dial..thanks for posting this song..

  • SahMooooth...thatz how we like it babe ;-}

  • NIIIIICE!!

SMDH...WHEN THE HELL IS MUSIC GONNA COME BACK FULL CIRCLE???? DAMN!

    I'm waiting...tick...tock...tick...tock...

  • off the rictor scale

  • Timeless and an undeniable classic that someone got lost in peoples hearts and minds

    Beautifil thenand beautiful now

    xx

  • @Sal1675 I agree with you 100% Sal....just the snap crackeling & popping (VINYL) @ the very beginning brings a smile to my face... once the msuic hits my ear drums its a total eargazim... miss my golden era of soulful 70's tunes..thanks for the share & @ArchieGe.. U ROCK BIG TIME! keep em comin..Peace..Port!

  • I remember being 6 years old & my auntie Kitisha Demmings (r.i.p.) takin me & my 2 brothers Shannon Jackson & Anthony Hinkle-Hatchett (r.i.p.) to the movies to see Car Wash. It was the best movie i had seen in my young 6 years!!!!!!

  • I Love You Shirley and i want every to know this!!

  • Can somebody say BLUE LIGHTS.

  • Love this song, my uncle had this soundtrack on 8 track. Wore it out cruising around town. This song is awesome, but we had to wait and listen to the whole album before playing the song again because 8 tracks didn't have a reverse or fast forward button. Those were the days! Thanks for posting!

  • see rose royce live in concert on saturday october 16, 2010 @ Disco Ball 9 -----Trump Taj Mahal Casino resort Atlantic City New Jersey USA . 13 old school classic artists.

  • This is true R & B! Not like the trash they make today! I love the old school!

  • Made for snuggling on the sofa too

  • This song reminds me of eating in a good greasy diner, and having a fine ass waitress serving me.

  • @bjroberts65

    You said it, playa!

  • ski beatz !!!!

  • I was six years old when this song came out and it still sounds just as good today as it did then!!!!!!! Very beautiful!!!!!!!!!

  • remember when everybody had this album?

  • I could Imagine it now... L.A. 1976, driving in a convertible on hot summer evening with that special lady in the passengers side,classic!...only if i were even around back then lol.

  • Fantastic music for a great classic movie. Those were the good ole days & I thank god I enjoyed a bit. Music was good, talent was the real deal. Some of the talent of tadays' times get by for how you can shake your a-- & the skimpy outfits. The real talent is overlooked & under-rated because they might not look a certain way. That;s bull & I pray that maybe, just MAYBE, It'll change & give those deserving their PROPS that are long overdue. Real talent lasts & the sun burns the grass after awhile

  • this is a very nice cruisin song i remember seeing this movie as a sneak preview at the show with the movie sparkle

  • i like this song~

  • Relaxing, no other greater feeling than this. I take it to roll on my red cherry lowlowbi.

  • Man, the 70s were amazing. They need to bring it back along with the 90s type of style. Just hope this decade brings good music and not that WACK stuff we hear daily on the radio. Thank God for the big DM radio station that ONLY plays oldies, 80s and 90s music, ONLY. Not that mainstream crap.

  • Love this song. Always have. Car Wash still is one of my favorite movies

  • Omg what a Beautiful song!! Wow! Ty for posting it :)

  • Man I gotta go watch the movie to night....Classic!

  • The fly has love on his mind.....Bzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Los Angeles...1976...Those were the times...I was a little kid then, but remember it well. Nothing will ever compare.

  • i was just watching that program ''unsung'' i was a little disappointed they never mentioned this song,,but it was still intresting great song

  • This is the SHYT!!!!!!!!

  • this was my mother shit she used to blast this when i was a little hopper RIP MAMA LOVE YOU BABY THE RETRO KID1980

  • Marsha Ambrosius sampled this on her co-star song!

  • I can't even put it into words....this song, my God, it's beautiful!!!! It gets you in the mood

  • Flashback...singing in front of the mirror with my handy dandy brush!!

  • This song and "ooh boy" are my 2 favorite Rose Royce songs.

  • What's missing beyond the great writting in alot of the R&B music today are those great brass horns sections back in the 70's...... it made the music sound so big and rich....

  • saturday night in south central LA chiilin with my lady listening to some RR.....oh yea!!!

  • I envy you! L.A. is my favorite city, and I love 60's -70's soul.

  • Thanks for posting this great lost nugget, off VINYL nonetheless!!!!

  • The great thing about these songs, is that it put's you back in time. You're just drifting on memories.

  • An amazing song - so so so soulful - gives me tingles in my spine listening to it again - thank you RR

  • Same here...a lost classic from a lost precious time.

  • PS : To JackJeckel81 ~ The Delux Car Wash was torn down many years ago!! :(

  • Love this song!! To Sybenett ~ That was Tracie Reed! They do look alike! :)

  • @trotteramj tracy reed

  • i love carwash..as far as im concerned,it 's one of the best movies of all time.

  • BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ..THE FLY

  • Ha, Ha, ha, Franklin Ajaye had to throw that shit on a young Jayne Kennedy looking all you and fly and shit, had to bring her uppty ass back down to earth only the Fly can do that kiddddddddddd.

    Sy-

  • yea you must of been fucked up when you watched the movie because that ain't jayne kennedy...her name is tracy reed....she was in movies like trouble man...a piece of the action....shit the bitch was even on a episode of the love boat sonnnnnnnnnnn.

  • I stand corrected brother, and I saw A Piece of the Action as well, Sheryl Lee Ralph just as fine as ever.

    Sy-

  • @Sybenett Oh you was definitely fucked up if you thought Ralph was in that shit...

  • Good to know it's 76' again one year before basic training, Rose Royce kicking much ass and no Kanye West & Jay-Z. You actually had to sing and perform for the late Norman Whitfield.

    Sy-

  • tru dat

  • God where have the years gone, I can just see myself in the theatre watching Car Wash, can't make great shit like this anymore.

    Sy--

  • this song comes on whenever I enter and exit a room. what? for real... :-)

  • Ooh... my I have finally found out the name of this song. Thxs for uploading!

  • Does anyone know if that Car Wash still stand's today?

  • I love this movie I have the DVD and i watch it like every 2 months.

  • This song is awesome, have not heard it in years. Brings back nice memories.

  • and if it was left up to me girl i'd marry you now and we'll be together 4 ever ,,, thats some player ass shit!!!

  • that's my favorite line in the song too.

  • " ooh baby , you're on my mind , all the time , so you're never ever hard to find , cause you're always on mind " Now thats how you express yourself to a woman !

  • I still to this day cant believe how under rated this song actualy is.Amazing just a soul classic

  • true, this son is very under rated.

did u know it was originally written for the Temptations?

  • Wow...Lol..i never knew that.

  • millertyme66 Man this is a classic love jam. I cant believe this didnt get da props it deserves

  • @mindofmorrison I couldn't agree more. By far the most outstanding track on the soundtrack and yet it gets totally overlooked. One of those songs that makes me stop what I am doing to listen....

    Love it!

  • I was just driving down the highway a couple nights ago. Clear sky, warm, moon was shining and I was listening to this song. Amazing how all those things just fell into place. Gotta do it again sometime. Good travelling music.

  • @koolaid28 I understand where ur coming from, that's how it happened to me. When I was young, my father took me & my brother from New York to Ilinois. My brother was asleep in the back seat, I was up front with my father. I looked out the window to a full moon & star filled sky. Right then Rose Royce - Wishing On A Star came on.

  • if you get the soundtrack, this song is not even on it and it is the best one one the damn thing!

  • I've got the soundtrack, and this song is on it.

  • This song just has "A beautiful 70's afternoon" written all over it. You're on My Mind is one of those songs that can raise your spirits in time of need....Love it!!

  • as a fan of the movie this is that late friday afternoon song, you know what i mean guys.

  • this song and movie lifts my spirit so high it makes me want 2 cry!

  • wow, I never tire of hearing this forgotten gem, smooth soul and with a classic hook to it.

Falls into the should have been a 70's hit basket.

  • one of my favorite songs, thanks for posting it, its hard to find

  • this song gets lost in rose royce hits my favorite song by them just a shame you don't hear about it that often

  • You know what? This song is perfect for that early high school first infatuation. The girl or boy you see that makes the sound of blaring horns and fireworks go off. This song is In my top ten of all time R&B tunes.

  • Really?

  • yes it is My Love

  • A truly great and totally under-rated piece of soul music.

    I LOVE it!!!!!!!!!

  • OH MY GOD.....I Got a date Leon!!!! She was so funny. You go on home, I'll close up...How can you forget every scene of this film! Classic huh?

  • ..but that was so sad when he showed up with a friend talking get in and join us or some dumb shit. I'd of slapped him

  • You don't need drugs for this tune - I came back from the states & managed to dig this out some crate in NY - the original soundtrack for $12/£8.50 - I would have paid 10x that. This tune makes me so happy and brings back so many good memories ,from the film too - I want to dance to this song as my 1st dance at my wedding with my (not yet found) wife. Also can't help feel for Marsha waiting for dream date with Mr Right. ALL TOGETHER NOW OOoooweeeeeOOOoooh, together, forever...me & you...!!!!!

  • I use to play this part in the movie over and over again

    Sy-

  • one of favorites from car wash

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!! Classic and timeless!

  • Comment removed

  • The actual car wash was torn down in the early 1980's. It was located on 6th & Rampart a few blocks from the historic MacArthur Park. It is now a strip mall.

  • Comment removed

  • I thought that I saw the same car wash too when I was on Pico blvd when I went to L.A a few months ago. I wasn't exactly sure if it was the same, but it sure looked like it.

  • i dont get people saying songs are being destroyed by remakes...just dont listen to the remake its not like there is never gonna be an original version, if its a classic then it will never be destroyed

  • The song was played when the girl with the wigs was in the bathroom and/or in the phonebooth trying to call her man...and also during a Franklin Ajaye/Tracy Reed scene I believe...and as stated earlier, it is on the CarWash soundtrack(I have the original LP).

  • Oh My gawd, the strings, change of tempo, harmony, vocals, Lyrics = a Bonafied CLASSIC!!

  • All original music. Not the synthesizer crap that plays all the intruments that you hear in today's music.
