  • i've seen almost every horror movie till now, and still the old ones are the creepiest from al those. it's like youre part of the movie.

  • phantasim

  • i have to say coming from a 17 year old that the horror movies back then were much better then they are nowadays they were even scarier than todays horror flicks nowadays they have alot of really bad actors

  • and not a single vampire sparkled that day...

  • Best Vampire movie ever made !!!

  • this movie had every horror element one could dream of.

  • The best adaptation of a s Stephen King novel- as well as one of the best Vampire films ever made. Its all about the character development and building the momentum in the film. Everyone delivers in this one, especially Soul (his best) and Mason. This miniseries far surpasses any of the theatrical adaptations, including Carrie and The Shining. Absolutely perfect.

  • Real vamps.stick twilight up yer gay 13yr old ass.

  • you mean vampires used to be. . . cool?

  • "mom i love you but this trailer's got to go, i can not grow old in Salem's Lot" -Eminem

  • Out of all the horror films I saw as a child, this was by far the scariest - and it portrays vampires according to folklore (I.E, the hissing and snarling demonic undead, all the usual trappings, nighltly visitations while victims are half-conscious, and a vampire plague). What made this film so effective was it's atmosphere and climax. A classic.

  • its so lame and sterio type it hurts

  • Cheesy graphics but this is still one of the best vampire movies ever. Salem's Lot puts Twilight to shame.

  • @kanayd i think that Fright night was very good too. Not the new one, but the old classic.

  • They used real acting talent back then ..now everything is CGI or remakes ...:((((

  • good movie very underrated

  • Ah the power of the lower case letter T made with two tongue depressors taped together. Good times.

  • Great vampire movie.

  • "to a place unmolested by time" bwhahaha i laughed so hard at that =3

  • One of my FAVORITE horror movies. The good ol' classic horror movies are always priceless.

  • @Brainfreeze56 I KNOW RIGHT!

  • is this a movie??

  • @ONEXON It's more like a miniseries. I think. Long time since I seen it, but I seem to think three or four episodes.

  • That makeup is hideously beautiful!

  • AT 0:58 "Something is Happening" and AT 1:01 I figured out something was......

    P.S Good Movie Tho!

  • lol David Soul

  • old vampire and new vampire...i think old vampire movie look more great and better

  • oh god i watched this when i was little the kid floating into the window scared the fucking shit out of me

  • @savethelephantnow

Same shit happened to me lol

  • @djcao lol i think alot of ppl has seen this when they wer little

  • I hated my dad because of this film ... i walked in on a 'scary' scene when i was 5, screamed and ran out. "It's alright you can come back, it's over now" ... it was a video ... he'd rewound it. -.-

  • Good old days when vampires used to look scary, now they sparkle -.-

  • its so different to see vampires that arent squeeky clean!!! =O

  • I am nearly finished with the book...laid up with a leg break from a great skydive but near death landing...want to see the movie now...see how close it comes to the book. Can't put the book down...hypnotic almost. I am not a Catholic but thinking on going to mass or whatever they call it. Twilight vamps are still human...these are like in the Buffy show...demon possessed and evil.

  • @PotatoGunsRule it really is a great read and there are two film adaptations. THIS and the one from the 2000s. i say they BOTH are noteworthy, and good in their own way, so if you wish to see how much they are to the novel, you may want to watch them both.

  • oh my god,I love reading horror novels, and I read this one while I was in Greece for holiday this year..and I wanted the movie so bad -and here it is :D

  • un clasico........

  • 2:13 is freakin SCARY!!!

  • mr barlow still scares the shit outta me now lol

  • salems lot was great especially for a 2 part tv mini series .david soul is a shit actor but held it together well enough for this . only problem was they should have made it longer . they leave a lot of characters and side stories from the book out of the movie . mr barlow is ugly as shit too . Nice to see a movie like this and remember that vampires used to be scary in movies . the remake in 2004 sucks. always wonder why Tobe hooper didn't get to be a huge director. hade some huge horror hits

  • Huey the vampire kicks the faggetty vampires of twilight and that shirtless wolf's ass.

I wish Stephen King makes a clip of Huey slaughtering the "twilight' vampires.

  • "to a life, unmolested by time." LOL WTF

  • Actually it is a verty poorly made trailer as it gives too much away. If it is a brilliant horror film( which salem's lot is!!) then you don't need to show too much.

Word of mouth will do it for you, plus it will save you a fortune in advertising.

Another good reason not to show too much. Because if you watch Jaws, you don't see the shark well into the film. That is how you build up the suspense.

  • SALEM´S LOT IS A MASTERPIECE, THE MAXIMUM IN TERROR !!!

ESTA PELICULA ESTA ROMPEMADRES !!! PONE LOS PELOS DE PUNTA A CUALQUIERA !!!

  • salems lot, the shining, pet semetary, it, childern of the corn.. these are good stephen king adaptations

  • these vampires are scary HAHAHAHA ironic because Stephen King gave his opinion on Twilight

  • i liked vampires before they were sparkling faggots

  • did it say "Un-Molested By Time." at 0:28 thumbs up if you think it did.

  • @ilovebilliejoearm That is what it says. It just means that nothing has changed.

  • @newsense87 oh god, now i feel dumb

  • @ilovebilliejoearm thats because he did?

  • one of the best vampire movies ever!

  • im reading the book at the moment :DD

  • this vampire is more real than the twilight vampire

  • O,.,o

  • I like this movie very much!

    Old horror movies are best.

  • I live where it was filmed. Ferndale, California :)

  • I must say, Kurt Barlow is much better in the miniseries than the book. Even if it doesn't make as much sense to have him portrayed as a Nosferatu like vampire, it certainly made for a much more thrilling experience.

  • Just like every other stephen king story: FUCKING SCARY AS HELL AND AWESOME!

  • Scary shit.

  • I was 11 when this first aired and it scared the crap out of me. I've seen it since then and, even though it's cornier than I remember, I still have fond memories it.

  • this movie was corny but compared to the 2004 version its a masterpiece

  • i love horror movies, ive seen tons of them all the way from the silent era- today, out of all those movies only 3 have really made me feel creeped out, the kind of scared that makes you put your hand over your eyes, and peek at the screen through your fingers, and one of those movies is salems lot, in my opinion the Exorcist, Salems lot, and Nosferatu, are the top 3 best horror films of all times.

  • Really good book

  • I tried reading the book, it was way to scary. But the Dark Tower Series is good

  • creepy

  • The good old days when the narrator told you the whole story so you didn't have to spend the money to see or rent the movie.

  • @BuffysBiggestFan ahahahahaha so true.

  • You know I hate vampires today they glow in the light and don't get scared of crosses unlike vampires before. I HATE TWILIGHT it's like vampires and humans have no differences in twilight

  • @TheJatak2 Yup, I can understand if the vampire is some high archetype vampire but not every single vampire.

  • @Bloodsport1 a twilight vampire doesn't look like a regular vampire anymore WHAT WORLD DO WE LIVE IN WHERE VAMPIRES ARE NOT IMPORTANT CREATURES!!

  • Yap,,,, still have this movie in Videodisc on a hard to find section.... still the best movie horror for me!!!

  • This was on network TV (CBS) in the SEVENTIES. Can you imagine that happening now? Hilarious...

  • Only from the twisted mind of Stephen King

  • When I broke my wrist at the age of 11 I stayed inside at recess and read this amazing book, it was at the time the best novel I'd ever read and I still adore it almost twenty years later.

  • God, this book scared the crap out of me. it was a great book

  • Yes, thank you, Fuck Twilight.

  • @jsperess yes im with you on that i hate twlight

  • And they say our days they are bettaa film i think id shit me self watchen this <3

  • Did David Soul make this movie before or after he abused his wife? What a scumbag.

  • You see the look in those vampire's eyes? Yeah...make THAT fall in love with you, Bella!!

  • that vampire looks like nosferatu

  • so far this is the best adaptation of the book. The TNT remake with Rob Lowe was crap.

  • the vampire looks like nosferatu

  • @cjh1231000 nosferlatu my bad!

  • This movie scared the crap outta me when i was a kid. But I remember always wanting to see it when it was on tv. And now I'm still chicken to see it =)

  • loveee the book<3 not like those dumb ass twilight books

  • 3 people prefer Edward Cullen over real vampires....

  • Of all the "horror" films I saw as a kid (and I saw a lot) this one, and "Prince of Darkness" REALLY freaked me out...

  • Stephen King's work can be kinda funny (blue vampires) but this stuff is what keeps you up at night! not some dumb sparkly vamp that can't gut a girl.

  • Easily the greatest horror movie ever made!!!!

  • the woman on 2:46 wasnt a vampire she was on the rag

  • good old days when the vampires used to suck blood, not cock like in nowadays movies

  • @nasonqjenai so true my friend, the new age vampire is destroying the myth

  • @nasonqjenai hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

  • @nasonqjenai lol that is a good one.

  • @nasonqjenai absolutely right. The modern remake is complete sucks :3

  • @nasonqjenai dude, you just made my day, thank you

  • @nasonqjenai Nicely put, back in the day I wouldn't have minded being a Vampire; or a Werewolf!!!

Not now though, still preferred to be Zombie, now or then!!! :)

  • @nasonqjenai Couldn't have put it better myself lol

  • @nasonqjenai

    Genius!!!

  • @nasonqjenai hahahhahahahahahhahahhahahhahahahah

  • even though most movies from today beat 70's movies...... Scary movies were a lot better in the 70's and 80's...

  • Peyton Place + Dracula + Lovecraftian mythos = 'Salem's Lot, one of the best modern horror novels ever.

  • The old days when vampires looked like shit and suck your blood unconditionally. Kiss me, I love it! ;) King's still king in this genre. Always have always will!

  • I saw this when I was about 13. That was 24 years ago, nothing in the intervening period has come close to scaring me this much.

  • TWIGHLIGHT IS FOR FAGSSSS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The semi-bark at 2:14 was badass.

  • I miss real horror films like this that weren't heavily reliant on CGI and focusing to cater to a target audience. Perhaps it was because the source material had more depth, or maybe because the scare tactics employed weren't yet as clichéd as they are today. Whatever the reason, one can only hope for a renaissance in good horror film making, much the way it was back in the 70's.

  • one of the best books i evert have writtten

  • @chiajack5 Holy Shit! Stephen King is here!

  • the book is better^^

  • 2:13 HOLY MUDDA FUCKA SHIT IN MY PANTS!

  • A unquestionable masterpieces thanks to the horror novel master of master's, the king of kings Stephen King!!

  • Stephen King is a genius! I believe that his fiction will be read by several generations in future. He writes meaningful work with implied lesson in every story he has written, which are a metonimy of real life.

  • the best vampire movie ever the lost boys comes 2nd

  • that was spooky when that shadowery figure appeared, i wonder what happened after that shadowery figure appeared?.

  • @DimeraFan28 He had a cup of tea with the boy.

  • Scaryist movie ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the novel is just amazing!!!

  • @nicoleca0427 one of my favorite books

  • @nicoleca0427 im reading the shining right now when im done im going to read salems lot

  • @SuperPensfan8771 Enjoy! Salem's Lot is a wonderful read! Check out the novel Christine as well. That book was good too!

  • @jimsed1964 Indeed. The novel gives the sense that a town is slowly dying and that every precious moment of daylight is being wasted.

Susan's ill fated decision to go up to the house, Mark's admirable but foolish bravery that cost his parents their lives, the Priest's failure to stand up to Barlowe when he had the chance, and Ben's slow witted nature that keeps him from putting it all together in time. And of course the well hidden antagonist who doesn't come on the scene until late.

  • @VRmission38 couldn't have said it better myself.

  • This movie had all the perfect ideas and touch. But the movie wasnt executed as good. The vampire lead looks amazingly creepy though.

  • A life unmolested by time... Sounds nice.

  • Twilight! Absolute 00's crap....Tobe Hooper shoud've made Twilight/Stephen King write Mills & Boon novels.

  • Haha molested

  • AWSOME MOVIE,I LOVE IT!!!

  • @ThePSYCHOChannel lol im not trying to argue with you or nothin but these movies SCARY THE LIVING SHIP OUTTA ME xD (no i havent seen the movie xD)

  • @marblefan500

    Oh well thats your problem,not mine,cya :-P

  • Not only the best King novel, but the best tv movie version.

Best thing David Soul has ever done.

  • Nosferatu! They stole the vampire from that film. Can't blame 'em though cuz it's the best one.

  • based on larry murphy

  • the voice over guy is a twat

  • :D I just got the book! The beginning hasn't told me anything, nor the intro, nor the description on the little page flaps. I thought it was a good book (only on chapter two), but to find out it's about vampires makes it (and Ben) a million times better! Now every time I see one of my friend's toting a YA vampire novel, I can point out that I'm reading a vampire novel by the King. :D

    *fangasm over*

  • Why does everyone hate Twilight?

It is almost a spoof of vampire movies, obvioulsy not to be compared with anything like this

  • 2 times 2 times 4 times 8 better than any other vampire movie!

  • Stephen King's awesome! :D

  • wow very scary XD

  • well i think we all know that the best vampire tale ever is buffy the vampire slayer :D

  • 2:14 suggests an early version of a less fabbulous Micheal Jackson...

  • Yes, fuck 'Twilight'.Sorry, but there's no better way to put it.

  • Good to see David Soul so competent post Starsky and Hutch. I enjoyed this TV movie immensely. The seventies were very good at TV movies adapted from best selling books.

  • This was a tv movie. This was one of the scariest tv movies I have ever seen. But of course it was alot of dialogue.

  • at 1:15 he looks like hes gunna rape him lol

  • The last time the word molested was used in a trailer and not to describe a pervert...

  • i used to propper shit meself

  • he says ,, dont look at him and throws the guy across the room lol 2:57

  • 2:14 lol!

  • God, this looks so horrid compared to the book. I mean the film made for IT was a load of shit aswell as this probably will be when i get around to watching it. Salems Lot is a fantastic book, as IT is also. I'd love IT to have a proper TV series, possibly about a 22 episode TV series of hour long shows. Youd need that to cover the 1400 page book, it would be fantastic if it was done properly.

  • I'm fourteen, and my Mom told me this was the scariest movie ever made. I figured, "Yeah for it's time,"

EENNT!! SCARIEST MOVIE OF ALLL TIME!!!!

  • of course it would be made by stephen king

  • I have the book but I haven't read it yet, I also haven't seen the movie. It looks kind of creepy.

  • @CassidyKaulitz The book is usually better than the film, esp when it comes to Stephen King, I'd curl up in a cosy armchair next to the window, so I can enjoy the autumn falling leaves and pale sunshine, with a big mug of hot tea and this book. One great Halloween appetizer! >:D

  • Directed by Tobe Hooper. No wonder it was scary. He directed the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

  • This wasn't shown in movie theatres, was originaly a mini-series shown on CBS in late 1979.I was in the 1st grade when I first time saw this back 30 years ago.I remember the scene when the vampire boy floated up to that kid's window. That just creeped me out(wasn't able to get a good night's sleep). Now imagine if you have a bed room on the 2nd(or 3rd) floor and something is tapping on the window tobe let in.

  • this movie will always be one of the best vampire films, it gives you the raw excitement and just to borrow somebody else's comment, this is a materpiece because the film followed it the way it was written on the book, going to the country side gives me the creeps because of this movie.

  • These days lousy horror writers use over done computer graphics to try and make up for a poor story like using computers as a crutch. An example for me is the movie "The haunted" where the effects make the movie a joke. The best horror flicks were done without CG. I'd rather have story that keeps me on edge than impress me with a video game. Salems Lot is right up there with the Shining, Omen, Exorcist, Friday 13th, and so on in my book. You wanna scare your kids shitless, go rent it.

  • i will never get tired of stephen king's movies

  • Salem's Lot is the best vampire book I have ever read. Read it in a stormy night with doors banging around, and feel the terror inside your bones. I still shiver when I remember the town sleeping at daytime.,..waiting for the nighttime to awake...

  • I lobe the book! It was so good! It actually creeped me out a bit.

  • i saw it when i was i think 5 holy shit didn't sleep for weeks and i got kicked out of a carnival for punching a clown in the crouch, i din't get in trouble though because the clown looked excatly like pennywise and on top of that he had really bad teeth

  • just bought the book and gonna read it soon. also jus have to say the shinning is one of the scariest movies ive ever seen...loved it!

  • @phmike69

lol definitely. i think the scariest scene was when the kid was scratching on his brothers window.

  • Nosferatu?

  • Im reading this now and it is scaring the shit out of me. I never thought books where scary but this one is insane. Oh and the trailer looked like a parody of a scary movie to me.

  • Im reading this now and it is scaring the shit out of me. I never thought books where scary but this one is insane
