There was no documented account of a warm up period, nor did Marchand listen secretly to Bach warm up, nor did Bach perform for any documented period of time, nor was this a public event -- it was a private event at the residence of a certain nobleman, attended by nobility, court officials and the Saxon Duke/Elector.
