The stage director probably had no other ideas about staging this wonderful piece and he decided to be the first one to close the curtain.........looks stupid, really.

Soprano is using a lot of force and I don't think she will last long as she abuses her voice badly.

Dicono che YT non serve o, peggio, danneggia i cantanti. Non credo, anzi, al contrario, li fa conoscere ed apprezzare se meritano. Ieri sera ho visto Carmen a Caracalla e lei interpretava Micaela. Per me era una perfetta sconosciuta, oggi posso ascoltarla e farmene un'idea e forse domani andrò a teatro proprio per lei. In quanto ai dischi, sarebbe ora di considerarli una documentazione virtuale e non una risorsa preminente. Conta la recita dal vivo e comunque brava qui e in teatro.

I saw Ermonela Jaho in La Traviata at the Royal Opera House in January replacing Anna Netrebko. Ermonela was incredible. Her acting completely amazed me...for the first time i saw a Violetta who seemed real. I will always remember her performance and especially how she sung "Amami Alfredo" and "Addio del passato" which great passion and feeling. Bravo Ermonela. A very talented young artist with incredible potential. IF you get the chance go and see her perform live - you won't be dissapointed

Beautiful timbre, she just needs to control it better and learn to use the shadings and dynamics of her voice for means of expression and musicality. She has agility, but her technique must be improved to avoid any mistake. She acts well and has true passion on stage. I'd say she's a talented but still incomplete singer. Good luck to her!

A very pretty girl. Even prettier than Netrebko. Looks the part totally and the voice is kinda nice. Her intonation is a little off at times. Nice acting chops. The voice is too light and lacks the right "warmth" and core for my taste. But she's sincere and lovely.

Ok, she is pretty. Acting good. BUT no technique, top screamy, singing too heavy, throaty and under pitch. Phrasing and musicianship very amateurish. If you want real Violetta listen to Virginia Zeani. Nuf said.

she's nice, i really enjoyed this performance. about the curtain - it's a good idea because all the sound is directed towards the audience (if the acoustics of the theater is bad).

what do you mean "great acting, finally"? there are a few other violeta's on youtube that act their ass off and random jerks accuse them of overacting and drinking problems, etc.

i just meant that the violetta's i've seen have been one dimensional and too happy. i don't click on all the youtube clips of violetta so i don't know what's posted. i'm sure others are excellent too, like Devia and others. and i believe in "overacting" if it means real passion. this is far better than under acting or bad acting. drinking problems! funny!

I totally agree about having her sing in front of a closed curtain. It's just ridiculous. Then again, the stage decorations are pretty bad, so maybe it's better that they're hidden by the curtain. In any case, it's a very bad production, but she's a great singer.
