there's something very yearning and final about the chords in the song, because it never solves, it just keeps going. It's like he doesn't want to leave something great behind but at the same moment is driving to the airport where he'll leave. Amazing song.

I agree the Maimo version doesn't have his band on it and it feels robotic.

studio version is on the red house painter's album entitled "old ramon" its good too, but different.
