  • I really wondered when I saw first Genki Sudo fight in MMA's youtube

  • His Flying triangles looks so effortless daaaaamn

  • maybe its the crappy video quality...but the guy in the 3rd match looks alot like nick diaz

  • @callamwong abit, but im about 100% certain it's not him though :)

  • one of the best

  • 3:48 fucking epic

  • Tool is the perfect band for this video because that is exactly what Genki did... Tooled everyone in it...

  • this dude can scramble faster than eggs!

  • Duane Ludwig vs Genki Sudo = biggest robbery in UFC history. WE ARE ALL ONE

  • I love both Genki and Sakuraba's style..only differences is Genki trys to avoid being hit and plays with his opponents to lure them into position while Sakuraba take shots to set up the position for submission

  • @thesheathdotcom me too !

  • I still watch this daily!

  • @thesheathdotcom same here

  • what song is this by tool?

  • @Diuable fortysix and two.

  • Wow Genki Sudo is a beast on the ground. Im very impressed

  • 3:46 !!

  • Holy shit Tool is so amazing.

  • 5:18 guy taps once ref doesn't see it. Genki, being a smart mother fucker, doesn't let go and taps him again legit 5 seconds later.

  • I wanna see the entire match

  • Every respect..great great awsome...

  • pause at 5:59 he looks like 50 cent hehe

  • This is Total Domination. The clear difference between a professional fighter and guys who like to train martial arts.

We have Genki Sudo who is supremely fit, and totally out classes these guys with a total of 4 techniques.

This is like watching a phoenix roast a gaggle of turkeys!

  • any tutorials on how to do the roll and sub in the 6th match??

  • @KimberLeon The move he does is a rolling calf crusher. Search for "rolling calf crusher from armdrag" to see a video.

  • How the lock at 0:44 is called?

  • @solistas95 it is a form of the triangle choke..he just turned a bit so he can grab the enemies leg so he has more control over the enemy ;)

  • @solistas95

Its a triangle choke just from the side, yoko sankaku. From the side you can grasp a leg to get more control.

  • @solistas95 difficult to see what's going on. It's possible a bicep slicer from that position. just a guess

  • Thanks Genki!

  • Talento natural, todo un maestro en la sumusion, grande Genki

  • His submission is too great!

  • Very Good Judo/Sambo player the strangle as sankaku jime and the leg locks were basic ssambo as were the armlocks. Intersting to watch better the normal MMA roll around the mat stuff

But why so scruffy can they get some of uniform , with proper referee dress. The wrestling was good but it looked like a group of kids got together

  • @britishsombo genki sudo was a brown belt in brazilian jiu-jitsu at the time, from beverley hills jiu-jitsu club. he was not a judo or sambo player. the guys he was tapping would make any competent blue belt look like a world beater. not to take anything away from genki though, he was awesome, his balance and reaction speed is incredible.

  • whats the song?

  • @RubbelDieKatz22 Tool - Forty six & 2

  • he's one of the boy bands now. new world order!!!!

  • He is so fluid!

  • Very nicely done. I love seeing good grapplers at work. You have obviously trained a lot and put much effort into it. I have nothing but respect for you.

  • My favorite grappler, even if he is retired

  • I watch this every time before I go to jiujitsu, really amazing.

  • Genki-Sudo Lives!

    We are all ONE!

  • That jumping to mount triangle at 3:51 was fucking mean

  • @REVLIMIT Yeah its like:

"Now you see me , Now you smell my balls"

  • its like you can see his emotion when he fights.

  • Each time I watch this, I'm inspired. I've trained with a couple guys who were at the tournament... one who was an unfortunate victim of Genki :D

Tremendous shame about his neck, I really miss watching him fight.

  • The submissions he pulled off here are absurd, it takes ridiculous skill to finish people with them.

  • @DiamondSoul lol? most of the wins in submission wrestling are all via armbar or triangle. So what is ridiculous skill for ya?

  • I turned the music off for this video and played the Benny Hill theme in another. It suits it way better.

  • He just got a bjj bb in 2010, this is back in '01 before bjj and before playing gi. This dudes just an awsome submission grappler and martial artist

  • holy crap! flying triangle FTW

  • I love that Genki only has a pair of shorts on while a lot of the other competitors have got all their gear.

  • This is what the art in martial arts means. It's so beautiful to watch.

  • music???

  • One of the best HL reels IMO

  • what style has he trained in?

    BJJ?

  • @JKT6 BJJ and wrestling.

  • @JKT6 According to his bio Greco-Roman wrestling & BJJ

  • what a strong man !!!

  • Tool fuckin kicks ass especially this song.

  • Genki was amazing back in the day, damn

  • peace out sudo,,, i hope you enjoy you new singing career

  • Love his style

  • The 18 people who disliked this have lost to Genki Sudo.

  • Haha I love how he just hops onto the guy like a frog at 3:47

  • just destroyed everyone.

  • Original uncut version /watch?v=45-tkN4bFYc

  • i like his flying submission move, succeeds everytime:P

  • Genki is the KING!!!....but Tool blows man!

  • @JohnLeeMD That's what every other body building football player thinks when they start BJJ. At least, until some little 130lb girl makes them tap to an armbar.

  • @JohnLeeMD dude, too many guys with this your same mentality come in to gyms and get a humbling experience with realizing their lack of experience. but we wont truly know until you actually roll with him, so indeed you may very well give him a run for his money.

  • @JohnLeeMD I LOL'd at your comment.

    sure.

  • @Endlessx87 You're an idiot.

  • @MattCadillac Someones lonely.

  • @Endlessx87 Someone is a retard.

  • @MattCadillac Good one, seek attention from else where.

    /End.

  • @Endlessx87 Oh, fuck me dude. I just realized you were sticking up for BJJ, not mocking it. I thought you were mocking Gregolian's post. My bad, haha. Sorry.

  • @MattCadillac Oh, Helk No! hahah, BJJ all the way. Cant blame ya, my comment is a bit vague. Aint holding anything against you, man.

    :)

  • @MattCadillac For sure, BJJ is the shit. I thought you were saying Gregolians an idiot for saying BJJ can beat a football player or something, haha.

  • @JohnLeeMD <---- Moron LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • all those dudes are done Gomi :?? he is OK sakuraba ?? NO he lost to Kiyoshi Tamura a bum japanese fighters are mostly tomato cans "pride is done for fuck sake

yamamoto ?? did you see who he lost too japan is dead ,what ever we like it or not the UFC as the best fighters right now and it's not about to change anytime soon

  • Comment removed

  • @ericssson Dumbest reply ever. You must be new to the sport, or your brain is just developing at a very slow pace. Dumbass. Yeah, Pride is done, but thankfully there are plenty of other organizations with good fighters. Why does it matter if they are Japanese anyway? We are all one.

  • @ericssson STUPID BITCH

  • You know what is scary he didn't get his Black Belt until 2010...

  • He should be every Japanese fighters role model/hero.

  • Why can't I stop watching this???

  • The difference between good grapplers and great grapplers is the ability to transition from position to position and submission to submission !!!! Always be'n 2 steps ahead of your opponent in competition as well as in your preperation is how u dominate the way Genki Sudo dominated these guys !!!!

  • I wanted to see genki breaking coleman's arm...

  • I think Genki is the best Japanesse fighter

  • @Ale13333 he's not fighting anymore ,Yushin Okami is the best Japanese right now....

  • @ericssson Yushin Okami? Not by a long shot.

  • @APEcast than you are new to this sport

Okami is the most successful japanese fighter right now in the cage or anywhere

and the Biggest and Strongest japanese dude around..

  • @ericssson Once again, you are wrong. Sure, he is the most popular Japanese fighter...to people who don't watch other events. People know him because he is in the UFC, and that is the only reason. Here are a list of better Japanese fighters: Takanori Gomi, Shinya Aoki, Tatsuya Kawajiri, Vitor Ribeiro, Mitsuhiro Ishida, Yoshihiro Akiyama, Norifumi Yamamoto. Shit, I'd wager Sakuraba could beat Okami, even in his older age.

  • @APEcast Shaolin Ribeiro is not Japanese.

  • @odus He is when I say he is. He's ugly enough.

  • @APEcast Vitor Ribeiro isn't Japanese and you'd know that if you actually watched him fight. Why would you name a fighter that you've never actually watched? Did you just assume he was Japanese because of his nickname on his fight finder?

  • @APEcast

vitor is brazilian, akiyama is korean

  • Wow I'd kill to be half this good one day

  • gee wonder if his favorite move is the flying triangle lol

  • I always though Genki could be an elite fighter if he really wanted to. Great submissions, great grappling, tons of athleticism, very underrated takedowns. Even his striking looked crisp when he wasn't dancing around. As much as I loved watching his style I think he could have been a champ with more focus/a different camp. Can't hate on him though: he followed his true passion (music/art). He'll always be one of my favorite fighters and one of the coolest humans every to compete in the sport.

  • Even though these guys are scrubs compared to Genki Sudo, it's still amazing how he flows with all his opponents

  • I love how the 4th match, he just mounts the guy by spinning around, then BLAM in his face. He cowers before he covers, and Genki just pattycakes his arms. Then he does the same thing to his legs. He's thinking, "WTF is this? I don't know these moves." Genki answers with his mind: "I'm owning you so hard, it's returning you to a childlike state."

  • such hips

  • at 3:48 awesome move !!!!

  • @jaylaville Flying Triangle as seen before with his other matches.

  • Cool

  • It must have been a little scary knowing your up next to fight him lol. He was in a total league of his own. Now he's turned popstar. War Genki Sudo.

  • Deception at 3:46 is brilliant.

  • Sudo made that guy in the fourth match look like a complete fool.

  • Just like human body chess...love it!

  • Genki Sudo is one of the best grapplers everr

  • wish he'd never retired i would love to see more of his entrances and fights

  • I agree !

  • Now simply I realized pro-fighters who earn their meals by fighting much much more stronger than amatures.

  • maynard and sudo are two of my favourite people ever

  • 3:48 EEEEEEPPPPPICCCCC

  • High level grappler or not, he'd kick your ass in bjj, k-1 or mma... so just stfu...

  • those were blackbelts and high level grapplers

  • No, no they were not. "High Level grapplers and blackbelts" compete in Abu Dhabi, where Genki Sudo never won a match.

  • He lost to Vitor Belfort and Rodrigo Gracie by points, hardly bad against guys far bigger than him while fighting in MAX.

  • you just need to see how they were defending the triangles to know that these are No high level grapplers..

    that was just embarresing...

  • it's true, that is why Genki just totally out classed them.

  • But then again when you think about it if he went 7 matches that means they were over 100 guys in that weight class, so there had to be some blackbelts too one would think?

but it doesnt seem like that :/

  • genkis grappling its perfect i dont know what some people saying about belts he fight the same day with all the other fighters if you are grapplers you know the energy you need for that thats mean his high degree of grappling

  • what the fuck

  • this always gets me pumped before a match!

    thanx alot! :)

  • I think he might like flying triangles, but not sure.

  • I've never seen some1 consistently pull off flying armbars or at least use them for take downs or to advance your position. I really doubt that all he faced was white belts....that was impressive

  • flying triangles dude not armbars

  • The grapplers he faced in this video are not of high calibur. Explains why he's dominating all of them.

  • rolling calf slicer !!! what!??!!

  • Oh my God.

  • best grappling hips i've ever seen

  • we are all one.

  • I dont believe it!! Ive been into mma, and bjj for like 2 years now, and Ive never seen genki grapple before... This dude is unbelievable!!!!!

  • Sudo was a wrestler on the Japanese national level before coming to the U.S. and becoming a BJJ phenomenon. He and Kid Yamamoto were basically rivals at the two best wrestling colleges in Japan. Genki is now the head coach at his alma mater.

  • Would you happen to know his fight lineage... who he trained under, type of styles, etc? The only info I can find on him is in Japanese. Thanks.

  • @marcopolo2001

What is funny is... he doesn't have a colored belt, he did train at beverley hills jujutsu club, but not for long because as soon as he graduated college, he went back to Japan.

Pretty much, Genki's skills are self taught. He isn't even a blue belt apparently. Genki is just 155 pounds of pure japanese awesomeness.

  • I thought he did submission wrestling?

  • Genki calls it freestyle jujutsu. I know he did some high school wrestling and some jujutsu(never earned a belt) though.

  • @GreatestCreation909 He is a brown Belt in brazilian jj in Bervely hill jj school.

  • @gasparfreak

It's weird that he doesn't mention it himself. I dunno.

  • @GreatestCreation909

He mention it in his blog in japanese and in his Myspace.

and I have a photo form Genki with Marcus Vinicius (Sudo is Bronw belt under Marcus)

If u want can send u this picture.

  • @gasparfreak

    oh alright.

Yeah, that picture would be nice. I'm a fan of Genki. lol

  • @GreatestCreation909 Sorry my late.. problens with my note.

But how can I send u the photo??

  • Forty six & 2 by tool ...

  • who sings this song?

  • The greatest thing is nobody knew who Genki was at this time. He basically showed up and kicked everybody's ass.

  • @jtchen22 That's why he is the man.

  • @jtchen22 i think your wrong...look at the dates and u will found out he was already a big star

  • @sephirothfemto This vid is from 2001

  • @sephirothfemto Chris Brennan : Well one of the most exciting days actually was during my Westside Submission Tournament. Genki Sudo came and competed. It was a blast watching him, as I got to ref all his matches. I had never seen him, I had heard of him before, so all the stuff he was throwing, wow! I was laughing while I was reffing! It was kind of disrespectful to his opponent but he was very impressive.

  • @jtchen22 is that true? that's hillarious! what event was this anyways? where was it held?

  • @endfx It was Chris Brennan's submission tournament at his school back in the day.

  • Shit, I love this song and I love genki sudo, so this video just about does it for me

  • never get sick of it

  • FLYING TRIANGLE!!!! HAHA

  • what weight did genki enter this tournament at?

  • 65 or 70 kg i think :)

  • How rude is the guy in the white shorts!!

Just accept it man - you got tapped. I hate the way people carry on like that when the lose. It shows a lack of respect to your opponent if you ask me.

  • agreed

  • and he tired to slam genki too lol

  • That was about a 2 second outburst. In all respect, i don't think 2 seconds is carrying on

  • Come back, Genki. We miss you!

  • 1st Match Genki vs Bao Quach

  • wow he jumps straight into a triangle.. thats the kind of awesome that makes normal people go blind..

  • he just looks smooth and pulls some tricky shit off.. the flying submissions and jumping triangles... i havent been able 2 do..came close like once...but .. id love to be able to roll like him..maybe oneday lol... granted hes prolley not the best ...but hes better than i am lol...so i give credit where its due

  • Nah Man the guy in the blue and the guy after in the black shorts knew what they were doing. Genki was just so relentless and never let them re calim their gaurds.

  • how you know they r all wrestlers? didnt know wreslter used gaurd ?
