I'm about as liberal as they come, but any leftie who isn't disarmed by this Republican former First Lady is somebody I don't want sitting too close to me. Whatever anyone thought of the brief Ford administration, Jerry Ford's most priceless asset was his wife, and he wisely seemed to know it too. No perspective female president or perspective First Lady could ever go wrong trying to model themselves on Betty. God bless her.
