Mike is my one of my 2 most favorite base singers. George was the other. No one is more accurate or powerful in his normal singing range. He did kind of slip on these very low fried notes, however. He did light up the crowd though,as always.

How can you physically get that low? I can sing down to an Bb below the bass clef stave?

All but the lowest were in full voice. Mike sometimes sounds growly, but he's also got a very low natural range. The difference between his natural voice and his vocal fry range is also very noticeable. You can hear it here.

In my experience, 99% of people who say that those lower notes just sound like burping, growling, or whatever, are usually people who haven't listened much to bass singing and thus their ears aren't used to lower pitches yet. I was the same way, but I'm used to it now.

The bass singer sounds absolutely horrible. he tries way to hard and goes well beyond his range. Complete vocal fry on the lower notes
