no...I don;t actually think it will be easy...My vinyls are safely being conservated by -10 degrees at the moment...I think a massive release of LIVE REDSKINS material or offcuts is long overdue now.
The Redskins were more influenced by Soul & bands like The Clash than Ska or reggae. Although I do have a live audio bootleg of them doing 'Skinhead Moonstomp/The Liquidator' with Jerry Dammers on keyboard.
Oh what memories, The first gig i ever went to was the redskins at a miners benefit in corby in 85. the place was smashed up by dodgy skins, Shat the life out of me, but it hardened me up for a life of sabbing and demos and afa action. Half of me wishes they`d reform like neurotics et al, but half of me wants to keep these times special! Keep on keeping on!
Was at the this gig and always liked this song. They were hardly prolific song writers and trotted out the same set for years so this one was always welcomed around this time.
Just trying to think what Chris Dean would make of society today..looks like we were all fooled in 97!Working Class have got poorer!
I am glad Chris did not end up like that hypocrite Billy Bragg. Lives in a big mansion on the Dorset coast. He goes on about the the enrichment of the multiculturalism and he moved to a 99%+ white area!
Listening to the Redskins as i am typing this...."Lets make it Work"!!
Apparently a lot of the posters aren't listening or know f**k all about the Redskins .... absolutely fantastic and speaks volumes about Britain in the polarized 80'S. Come back X Moore - your country needs you and your revolutionary spirit !
There's a live version of the song available on the 'Redskins Live' CD that was released by Dojo records in the mid 90s. There's also a (as yet unreleased) demo of the song.
I've got the Ted Chippington joke + the video to She Loves You which was on the same show but the quality of the video is very poor. But if you do a search on Youtube there are a few videos on here of Ted Chippington.
ye great guys saw them a couple of time's...some time after bragg and the clash disapeared(well sort of)what happened too these guys...great bunch, was on the march for jobs and they played some benifit where we stopped but got blasted but stiill remember them....before the brain switched of
There's a demo version of the song but it doesn't feature any brass. There's also a live version of the song on the Redskins CD that Dojo records put out.
Original skinheads listened to soul & ska and not oi. As for the fascists having good music I think you should make an appointment to have your ears syringed.
Oh glorious as ever Mr Dean; a band to live for

Happy days!

being a socialist doesnt mean living in a certain area,
if you had the choice between franitc London and quiet Dorset in your later years..which would you choose?

Amazing. And sort of painful, The Forum is one street's walk from me, but this was over 3 years before I was born.

Did they ever record this song? It's pretty damn good, but it's not on the Neither Washington Nor Moscow CD.

Thank you Redskins001, love this band. Only with they had more music. Oh well, short and sweet.
And, fuck the fascist scum. Not even nearly good music.

Good to see them using the skinhead look as a gimmick.
At least the fascists had good music back then, despite the politics!

Im a hool, whats red skins-are they like otto strasser skinheads, socialist ones?.Hey and is that joe strummer?
sam2dope 4 years ago
Redskins are socialist skinheads. It's not Joe Strummer, but that is one of Joe Strummer old guitars that Chris Dean is using.
Redskins001 4 years ago
haha, hilarious to see redskins as fascists.
the red in redskins stands for communism...
and it's right, the original skins didn't listen to oi!music.
but all of them, original, redskins AND oi!'s have nothing to do with fascism!
