charlotte is a country town. i lived there for 5 years. there is nothing to do. if you do find something its really watered down and poorly done. the hatred between black people is unusual. Its very very racist against blacks. yet the racism is played out by blacks. the house nigger field nigger story. shopping is good. the people are very stressed from economic overload. its a bank city. so everyone are slaves to the bank. worst than most places. charlotte is a cut throat city
Charlotte is a small/medium size city. It's a laid back city compared to other places. Some people like to criticize it for it's laid back vibe, but that's part of Charlotte's charm. It's a clean, fresh city with nice parks and restaurants and tolerable traffic. It's not a party city, but if you look, there's plenty to do. 2 hours from the mountains, 3 hours from the beach.
"Hectic Charlotte" Please! Dude, more like boring and dead Charlotte. And agree with the other poster. Cht so tries to think it is another Atlanta. Whatev! Atlanta is a major and world known Metro you constantly hear about. Charlotte who where?
Dude please, get over yourself. The only one who brought up Atlanta is a guy FROM Atlanta, sounds like yall have an inferiority complex or something. Charlotte is Charlotte...simple as that, why the hell would Charlotte wan't to be like Atlanta? Crime, horrible traffic, SPRAWL.....If it's soooo boring why are soooo many people moving here?? I would love to hear your educated response...I laugh when people say Charlotte wan'ts to be Atlanta and so do all Charlotteans, the classier city for sure
Compared to Mumbai and London, Atlanta seems boring and dead! Don't confuse urban sprawl and mind-numbing traffic with the kind of activity that makes a city fulfilling.. I've lived in both cities. @supercococaleb Yes, charlotte has several tall skyscapers.. it's the headquarters of bank of america, wacovia and more. The tallest building is the bank of america tower, which is 62 stories. For a while charlotte had the tallest building from Miami to baltimore maryland, until atlanta built its 63 story building. Charlotte'smetro population is over 2 million
@supercococaleb base? what base? ... charlotte has plenty of buildings. i grew up in charlotte... my dad worked in a building in uptown charlotte my entire life. i was born in 1988... so that's 22 years. are you military? i honestly never knew there was a base near/in charlotte. i always think of fayetteville when i think of military bases. guess that shows how vast charlotte is... you don't know there are buildings, and i don't know there are military bases.
please can smeone give me more info on north carolina....things like nite life, shoppin, expenses in particular charlotte...does it rub shoulders with other cities like NY, LA, Chicago n so on
welll, time to update, charlotte has 5 new sky scrapers downtown now, and 6 new medium sized tall commercial building, the skyline has spread right out, just like i thought it would. watch out atlanta.
I've lived in LA, NY, Chicago, now Tampa (UGH) and many other cities in the world.
I've only been to Charlotte once, for a day, to meet a friend.
Now I'm looking at real estate there via the net. Can you tell me which areas are high crime-gang ridden areas and which areas are for ppl like me...a white, attractive female, single but raising a little niece? I made the mistake once of taking an apt. suddenly in Ft. Lauderdale. It looked nice but turned out to be all Hispanics, drugs, st. girls.
Here's a list of nice places in Charlotte: Mathews, Pineville, Huntersville, Ballantyne, Dilworth, Uptown (if your looking for urban living) basically North or South. Avoid East and West unless you are outside 485 loop.
there is not a ring of ghetto around uptown charlotte. myers parl, elizabeth, plaza midwood, noda, dilworth, south end........these are not "ghetto" areas.
plaza is ghetto u idiot...and to get to all of those places you listed....you have to drive through the ghetto....been here 21 years so you need to STFU!! and only outsiders call it uptown
@NinerGreen about 6 or 7 years ago,Charlotte tore down all of its ghetto neighborhoods which were uptown/downtown. (Piedmont courts, Earl village, cherry and more... The "ghettos" (Lower class neighborhoods are now closer to east charlotte and the northern part of central Charlotte.
Thanx so much...I'm just worried about my beautiful little niece. Her parents were killed in an automobile accident when she was a baby. Now it's just she and I since I have no one. My relatives have all passed on. I look in those areas.
I live in FL now but it filled with pediphiles and drug dealers...really.
I agree. ''Tries'' is the right word to use. The fact that it's growing (but creates lousy jobs) is the problem I see. I have been to both of those cities you have mentioned and they don't even come close (except for the fact L.A. and Charlotte made the miserable city list). I have to admit Charlotte has certain businesses no other North Carolina city has but overall it's such an ''Atlanta wannabe'' (as many people say.) I used to go there like crazy until I just couldn't handle it anymore.
My big fear is that Charlotte is becoming more like Atlanta with its crime, sprawl, traffic and loss of character. I actually see Charlotte as more like Philadelphia with far more of its historical neighborhoods preserved and intact than ATL. Charlotte is also more of a Colonial city in its architecture, while Atlanta is more Antebellum. Charlotte's historical significance is more grounded in the Revolutionary War, while ATL is more in the Civil War. I actually like CLT the way it is, thanks!
RDU is a great area, except that the local/state/federal gov'ts can never develop the infrastructure fast enough to keep up with the area's growth/development. Still, it's a very progressive and pleasant area. I live in the Triad, which doesn't really rate with ATL, CLT or the Triangle.

Your video resolution sucks. Try to use 640x480 resolution. Point and shoot video cameras carry the .avi resolution. Don't try to upconvert your low resolution. Also the colors are pale. Adjust the settings or use an editor like premiere to bring more color.
This video is nice but it doesn't do Charlotte justice. I lived there for 10 years and can tell you it is one of the best cities in the country. Visit there if you can.
yeaa i love this city i neva been thea although my best friend lives in huntersville and sed its beautiful i want to move but im tryin to see if i can find a job thea i applied for unc..they said i couldnt get in not because of my grades but because in ny we only take 3 years of math and 3 years of science in highschool and i need to have 4 years so i wood have to take a whole bunch of classes to be admitted..are there any suggestions of jobs down there? county or state perhaps?
In response to your video's title. That is an understatement. Then again, life here on the east coast is pretty hectic in general. I live in NC too and I can't wait to G.T.H.O.O.H. (get the h!@# out of here) :-) Charlotte used to be a real fun city until it just grew way too much.
I am a native North Carolinian..NC is a beautiful state and Charlotte is cool for a city it's size, to me RDU feels more metropolitan, and metro Atlanta where I currently live is superfast paced compared to living in NC.
well you did show some of the better roads shuch as east blvd, queens raosd and providence road. thats where i work at wish i could get around that fast lmao
Your vid could've used more center city scenes and fewer parkways. Just when your video got Uptown you cut back to more parkways. Charlotte is far more 'hectic' than this video captures.
Having said that, Charlotte is nowhere near as 'hectic' as larger urban centers like Chicago or even more mid-sized cities like Seattle. I expect that will come with time and continued growth.
im moving here this august, from toronto, canada and I hope its good. if theres anyone that lives there and is in high school gimme some feedback about nc plz
abiola13 charlotte is an ok place to be. not to many things to do. everyone goes to the mall and stuff like that. southpark and carolina place. and if your wondering if highschool is harder here, dont worry its not.gaston county is so boring.dont go there
oh you'll like it. I mean it's not that boring cause it's all about where your going like concord mills mall is pretty cool and i go to hopewell high in huntersville. But it's not that bad n i live in charlotte.
I was born in charlotte and lived there til i went to college when i was 19. I have visited spartenburg and have a couple friends from there. We all admit charlotte's better. Not just Charlotte but the whole state of NC is better. How many pro teams you have in SC by the way? yeah thought so
This is the town that began busing to desegregate the schools (I rode an hour just to go 6 miles), although they don't do that any more. I went to CLS and spent the first 7 years of my life in Connecticut. BTW, Charlotte will never be Atlanta! It just needs its own identity. Stop this mad developing and keep a few old buildings, add some public transpo, and it will eventually get it.
Just let me add that for a Southern city with more preppies, yuppies, and rich snobs than anywhere in the world, it is a remarkably tolerant place as far as people getting along. Yeah there is some racism and segregation, but there is just as much "hanging out" going on among people of different races and classes (although I hear the new Latino community isn't being accepted much). This may be because Charlotteans like to PARTY! I've never met so many weed-smoking Republicans in my life!
Great comment. I'd like to see Raleigh/Durham area people top that. Don't forget about the rednecks nearby. After going to Charlotte several times, I can see why the latino crowd isn't accepted. However, yes, Charlotte does seem like a party city although it used to be better before it grew to the extent it did.
I grew up in Charlotte...it's totally appropriate that you were in a CAR. Yes it's so green and it has old telephone poles above ground, but SO boring! Unless, of course you like golf and shopping.
charlotte's growing so much now. even though there isn't heaps to do it's still a great place. not that i want to live there anymore. New zealand has a little more to do :)
kievpatty... Sadly, that is North Carolina in general for you. I live in the Raleigh/Durham area and this place is about the same. Charlotte does have more of a variety, but unfortunately still very dull. Charlotte used to be better.
I feel dizzy LOL I was so happy when you got on the beltway the traffic lights was so fitting but I was like come on light turn lmao. Only thing was missing was riding in right lane then a CATS bus makes a stop and you get screwed in that lane. hehe
where milton road, where tha dead end at (nations ford)?, where beaties ford road? where west trade? where double oaks?, where hidden valley, where tha plaza, where hampshire, where the hood at?
I was born in Charlotte--grew up outside Charlotte--and have lived in Charlotte most of my adult life. This is simply hilarious! You could've stretched this out to half an hour, just driving around town. And for the haters--the only other city I'd consider living in is Atlanta.
my friend was shot and killed helping out on a fucking city improvement operation, unless your rich you can hustle all day and get hastled by shitty lawenforcement and sorry people or you can get a job helping the very city that shows you no sympathy, if your rich and live in a good enviornment ride all through charlotte, or better yet walk all through charlotte, explore the whole city, and see what you find out
charlotte is straight as hell,i love it, but its not as great as yall are saying man, yall must be rich or some shit, try living on wilkinson blvd or a neighborhood bordering uptown, i went through a LOT of suffering in this city, beat down by crooked cops, completely neglected by city officials, and watch them tear down every scrape of woods i grew up in for yuppy condominiums
yeah everyone gets messed up in charlotte if your not from there LOL like right on east blvd when theres the two one way roads yeah gets everyone ALL the time
I like how you included the intersection of Queens and Queens and Providence and Providence. Whether that was inadvertant or now, it still made me laugh; it is certainly something that makes Charlotte unique.
Oh, and you live in some nice townhomes. I love Dilworth :)
whats even more hilarious, i looked at windows live maps at Queens rd. I never seen a single street break up so much like that. drivers must get lost there all the time because of the breaks. "take a right on Queens Rd, then take another right on Queens Rd." lmao
uhm actually, I have lived in plaza midwood before.......not ghetto, maybe you should get out of your car and walk around a bit. oooooh and tell me, where is this so called "ghetto" in between uptown and southend or uptown and dilworth.......you're a fool. And about your uptown comment regarding who and who doesn't call it uptown......pretty much everyone calls it uptown, ever since the city adopted the name for the area back in the 80's. so before you go name calling, check some facts, fool.
yuppp this is my city right here :) u even drove right behind my old apartment in the dilworth area where the park is. and to the comment up above the streets may have been dead that day, but i will video tape uptown charlotte at about 10pm and we will see if its dead :)
nice drive through man, a slow motion would be cool as hell, charlottes my city though man east to west, i used to live in south charlotte but fuck that, keep up the good work though
I know where you liiiiive!! LoL great montage of some of the S. Charlotte streets...not to mention the Giants...love em! Heh and I thought the Kenilworth exit was dizzying enough as it was... Oh, and Saythany, suck on these...least we're not swimmin in Mexico's acrid sewage!! Buy a map biotch!!
1:32 = my house :)
oh god i hope no peds read my comment :C

Compared to Mumbai and London, Atlanta seems boring and dead! Don't confuse urban sprawl and mind-numbing traffic with the kind of activity that makes a city fulfilling.. I've lived in both cities. Atlanta is fun and historic, but so is Charlotte and Charlotte is far less cumbersome to navigate (ie: there's no corner of Peachtree and Peachtree), quicker to get around and offers most of the same amenities that Atlanta does (and the ones it doesn't, I can easily live without).

I come from Spartenburg(SC) and I can say you South Carolina is much better than NC!^^
settler92 4 years ago
I was born in charlotte and lived there til i went to college when i was 19. I have visited spartenburg and have a couple friends from there. We all admit charlotte's better. Not just Charlotte but the whole state of NC is better. How many pro teams you have in SC by the way? yeah thought so

I live in NC its pretty cool there

Charlotte has the coolest skyscraper in America! Thanks for the video post dmccoig. The view to rating ratio on this vid is amazing!
eluko79 4 years ago
This is the town that began busing to desegregate the schools (I rode an hour just to go 6 miles), although they don't do that any more. I went to CLS and spent the first 7 years of my life in Connecticut. BTW, Charlotte will never be Atlanta! It just needs its own identity. Stop this mad developing and keep a few old buildings, add some public transpo, and it will eventually get it.
kievpatty 4 years ago
i went to CLS as well, 14 intense, fun, long years. Charlotte's not as ghetto as hotlanta and better pro teams :)
undermoney 4 years ago
Just let me add that for a Southern city with more preppies, yuppies, and rich snobs than anywhere in the world, it is a remarkably tolerant place as far as people getting along. Yeah there is some racism and segregation, but there is just as much "hanging out" going on among people of different races and classes (although I hear the new Latino community isn't being accepted much). This may be because Charlotteans like to PARTY! I've never met so many weed-smoking Republicans in my life!
kievpatty 4 years ago 2
you got that right.about the latinos.or mexicans
WTQRfan 4 years ago
Great comment. I'd like to see Raleigh/Durham area people top that. Don't forget about the rednecks nearby. After going to Charlotte several times, I can see why the latino crowd isn't accepted. However, yes, Charlotte does seem like a party city although it used to be better before it grew to the extent it did.
iabhornc 4 years ago
I grew up in Charlotte...it's totally appropriate that you were in a CAR. Yes it's so green and it has old telephone poles above ground, but SO boring! Unless, of course you like golf and shopping.
kievpatty 4 years ago
charlotte's growing so much now. even though there isn't heaps to do it's still a great place. not that i want to live there anymore. New zealand has a little more to do :)
undermoney 4 years ago
kievpatty... Sadly, that is North Carolina in general for you. I live in the Raleigh/Durham area and this place is about the same. Charlotte does have more of a variety, but unfortunately still very dull. Charlotte used to be better.
iabhornc 4 years ago
Oh my fucking god, you deserve a fucking medal for making our shitty redneck little state seem mildly interesting.
I salute you, Sir.

I was born in Charlotte--grew up outside Charlotte--and have lived in Charlotte most of my adult life. This is simply hilarious! You could've stretched this out to half an hour, just driving around town. And for the haters--the only other city I'd consider living in is Atlanta.

Word of advice: Moving to Charlotte? Makes friends with as many rich people as you can manage. I've gotten so much free stuff!!11!
sweetwater88 4 years ago
my friend was shot and killed helping out on a fucking city improvement operation, unless your rich you can hustle all day and get hastled by shitty lawenforcement and sorry people or you can get a job helping the very city that shows you no sympathy, if your rich and live in a good enviornment ride all through charlotte, or better yet walk all through charlotte, explore the whole city, and see what you find out
kudzu720 4 years ago
charlotte is straight as hell,i love it, but its not as great as yall are saying man, yall must be rich or some shit, try living on wilkinson blvd or a neighborhood bordering uptown, i went through a LOT of suffering in this city, beat down by crooked cops, completely neglected by city officials, and watch them tear down every scrape of woods i grew up in for yuppy condominiums

I like how you included the intersection of Queens and Queens and Providence and Providence. Whether that was inadvertant or now, it still made me laugh; it is certainly something that makes Charlotte unique.
Oh, and you live in some nice townhomes. I love Dilworth :)
direwolf207 5 years ago
Very confusing intersection!
i got lost many times when i first moved here
dmccoig 5 years ago
whats even more hilarious, i looked at windows live maps at Queens rd. I never seen a single street break up so much like that. drivers must get lost there all the time because of the breaks. "take a right on Queens Rd, then take another right on Queens Rd." lmao
ny2dal35 2 years ago
Yeah there is actually a corner of Queens Rd. and Queens Rd.
sean29732 2 years ago
yea...and a corner of plaza and plaza
mymidnightsun518 2 years ago
uhm actually, I have lived in plaza midwood before.......not ghetto, maybe you should get out of your car and walk around a bit. oooooh and tell me, where is this so called "ghetto" in between uptown and southend or uptown and dilworth.......you're a fool. And about your uptown comment regarding who and who doesn't call it uptown......pretty much everyone calls it uptown, ever since the city adopted the name for the area back in the 80's. so before you go name calling, check some facts, fool.
NinerGreen 2 years ago
yuppp this is my city right here :) u even drove right behind my old apartment in the dilworth area where the park is. and to the comment up above the streets may have been dead that day, but i will video tape uptown charlotte at about 10pm and we will see if its dead :)
HYDR0G3Nthemonkey 5 years ago

I know where you liiiiive!! LoL great montage of some of the S. Charlotte streets...not to mention the Giants...love em! Heh and I thought the Kenilworth exit was dizzying enough as it was... Oh, and Saythany, suck on these...least we're not swimmin in Mexico's acrid sewage!! Buy a map biotch!!

Reminds me of the show The Flash back in the early 90's when he'd be running around really fast. lol Great vid!
