WOW! That is exactly what started happening to me this year. My fireplace has recently started to spill smoke back in. I also noticed that in the basement near my furnace it also smells like firewood smoke (when I have a fire going) . I have two small doors with hinges in the basement where the chimney is located and don't know what they are for. When I open them I don't see anything in there. I need help but don't want to call anyone because they''ll tell me I need a new chimney plus a new car.
