  • To those who say Paul Parker did not write or sing the song Little Girl are sadly mistaken. He definitely wrote it and sang it. I played drums for Paul as he performed this song many times.

TO PAUL; Miss all the good times we had at the RED BARN and BOB-LINK. If you gwt this. post notice on you-tube. Always your friend, Augie

  • @jazzy 4409: Good record - never heard it before. Thanks for posting. Is this by some weird chance the same Paul Parker who lived in the apartments on Davenport Avenue in New Rochelle, NY, in the early 1950s? If so, we were friends back then!

  • I own every one of my dads records and will do some investigating and post later. I can tell you now that Paul Parker wrote every word of Little Girl Well before 1964 but did not record it til October 1964 so as far as how anyone is saying this John guy wrote it I hate to break the news to ya. After Little Girl came Rockin for Golwater, Man from Alabam then Wine woman and Nightlife which again are all his. Later he recorded Froggy went a courtin he re-recorded with some changes to the lyrics.

  • Hi there. Johnny Ramistella/Johnny Rivers - Little Girl on Suede label is a totally different song & lyrics than this. Johnny wrote a totally different song with the same song title "Little Girl" go here & see, copy & paste this in the YT search:

Johnny Rivers: Johnny Ramistella And Orchestra-"Little Girl"

  • Also, please read to the right of this video, I explained that this is the original written & sung by your Dad.

All the confusion is who is the unkown artist on on the other one and please read to the right of that one also:

Johnny Ramistella - Little Girl ( NOT Johnny Rivers )

  • My cousin Eddie has all my dads records.

  • My Dad and I listened to both and the voice sounds like him, words are his, but the music is different. Pretty much only thing different. Dad would love to know how Johnny recorded it without his say. By the way do you have a copy of the record my Dad recorded, or know where we could get a copy. We would love to get this record back in the family.

  • My Dad and I have been talking about this debate. It is Paul Parker sining this song. My dad is Paul Parker who sung and wrote this song.

  • Hi there! We all know this is Paul Parker, your Dad, singing this song. As the title says: Paul Parker - Little Girl, the record label clearly shows this. This is your Dad singing this song we all know this, but, this is not the song in question. It is the other Little Girl we were debating. Please listen to it, same song, same lyrics that your Dad Paul Parker wrote. Please copy & paste this in YT search:

Johnny Ramistella - Little Girl ( NOT Johnny Rivers )

    Who is doing that version?

  • @dowopper51 IT IS JOHNNY RIVERS...thats his real name RAMISTELLA

  • Hi everyone! My name is Tanya. Paul Parker is my dad! He wrote and sang "Little Girl" along with several other songs before I was even born. I don't know who this Johnny Rivers is but I assure you they are not the same person and this is an original song of my dads, no one has remade it. Thank you to whoever posted this, by the way, who did!? :)

  • Hi Tanya, it's great to hear from you! I'm the one who posted this GREAT & original tune written & sung by your Dad. About 8 months ago there was a mass confusion on YT about this song. There is another version I posted of this exact song remade no one can figure who the artist is, not even me. Type in your search:

    " Johnny Ramistella - Little Girl ( NOT Johnny Rivers ) "

FINDERS KEEPERS CD made this error, read below what I wrote.

  • Tanya, it's Lisa. Dad and I have been talking about this debate. You can clearly hear Dad's voice and know it's him. I'm trying to get Dad to get on here and let everyone know for himself.

  • I posted it first, I never would have believed it would stir up such a controversy, I thought it was early Johnny Rivers, (even though it does not sound like him at all). I love the song I hope it is your Dad, at least it got out there to all the youtubers who love the song as I do. It should have been a big hit.

  • Paul Parker is my Uncle thanks for posting this!

  • You are so very welcome my friend!

  • Oh, thanks too for your rating of my original song.....mucho tnks from Texas!

  • You have to also remember this: When a singer covers a song that he/she likes, they tend to imitate the original singer to a degree. Therefore, the original singers style can carry on for many 'covers' later.

Care to Listen to one of my original songs:

    Days of Rhonda Robin

  • You are correct there

When a singer covers a song that he/she likes, they tend to imitate the original singer to a degree.

I have to agree with you, hmm.

  • This singer don't seem to have the same timbre in his voice. And he seems to sing a little more 'on key'. My vote is: Johnny Rivers & P. Parker are not the same person, if that is the question?

  • Sort of, I just through it out there as an idea. I can't disagree with what your saying in any way, I just wanted other opinions & ideas such as yours, the more the better, thanks!

  • i am speachless !!!!!!!!! it seems it's time to send a private message----:)

  • Damn you are good dowopper! Sure was wrong about song title (thought it might have been "Gee, but I'm lonely"). My take is that your "original posting" is probably also Parker e.g. an alternate take. The voice is very similar and if you listen to certain words/ pronounciations (little hiss is sight of you) I think you might agree - same dude. Long time fan (since 60s) of Rivers. Wish he had done it - might have gotten more air time. Thanks

  • Ultra possible, I've been playing them back & forth word 4 word with 2 computers thinking the same thing. The other version has the 1958-59 style, this has the 63-64 style, very possible it could be an alt. take. I'm hoping P. Parker or a family member may chime in & tell us. Many artists & family members have contacted me on my other postings, keep your fingers crossed. Either version sould have been a very sucessful hit, sad isn't?

  • I uploaded the the version that has caused all the dispute, it's such a good one I hope somebody comes up with the correct singer. I did enjoy the Paul Parker version also

  • I did the same thing you did, I also uploaded it under Ramistella because FINDERS KEEPERS CDs listed him as being the artist until norbrt contacted me & said his was Rivers version. After proving to myself he was correct, then the search started. However, I won't rest until I find who the 3rd artist is.

  • Wow!!! Thanks for posting Paul Parker and solving the Johnny Rivers "Little Girl" debate.

Also, the fact that Paul wrote this song makes sense that he would sing on it.

  • Your welcome! I still have to find who was singing the other version & when. I will, just may take a little time, until then, the J. Rivers case is closed. AMEN

  • nice version but I prefer the 'Johnny Rivers' version with the backing vocals

  • That's not Johnny Rivers. Actually no one knows who it is at this point in time. Norbrt has the original Rivers version on SUEDE label, check it out. Read down below NYDutch1968 & myself.

  • Great track thanks for sharing.

  • Your very welcome!

  • This sounds like Ricky Nelson and it remind me Ricky Nelson with "Travelin' Man"!

  • It does a little, actually this would have been a simple one for Ricky, hmm?

  • Thanks for one more trip down memory lane! How sweet it is. I can almost hear the schoolbells!

  • Your very welcome my friend! Ha Ha, I already heard the school bells, LOL.

  • Sheesh, I just gave up trying to figure out the Johnny Rivers mystery and along comes this record. Well I love this song and obviously from the label we now know Paul Parker and Gene Rachon wrote the song. I'm hugely surprised by the October 1964 release date as that would have been post Beatles. I thought the sound of the record would have dated it more in the 1959-1961 time frame. I do love the song and thanks for posting this version.

  • I thought the same thing, 1959-1961. Paul released this in 64, however that's not to say he wrote it in 64. I was trying to compare his voice with the other version wondering if perhaps he did the song over in 64 & changed the style a bit? Play them both, open 2 windows & go back & forth, let me know what you think? I agree 1st version has a 1959 sound.

  • I tried to compare the two versions and the "Johnny Rivers" version has an older feel with arrangements similar to say Ricky Nelson. The song is sung slower with nice vocal background singing. The Paul Parker version is sung faster with no vocal background and a semi-cha-cha beat. The "Johnny Rivers" version sounds older, but neither version sounds like a post Beatles era song. Good luck in hunting down the real "Johnny Rivers" singer- whoever he is, he should be recognized.
