@turbo1964 My guess is that they filmed it with the axe already stuck in the wall and then yanked it out then they just played the clip backwards so it looked like it flew into the wall next to Joan Crawford.
Joan was so over the top--and yet manages to be a decent actress too--also she has star quality--which is not really an acting thing per se--you either have it or you don't--even in this trash!
At the time this movie was made, Joan Crawford was on the Board of Directors of Pepsi. In one of the scenes, in either the kitchen or dining room. you see a countertop with absolutely nothing on it but a carton of Pepsi. It catches your eye because it's so bizarre to see a modern day product being advertised in a 50 year old movie. She did the same thing in the movie Berserk - just randomly threw a carton of pop in there!
This is actually a great movie. Joan's acting is superb. There is such tenderness in her vulnerability in some scenes. And this scene's so campy! It's awesome.
This is 1964, remember. Panic and mayhem come later. It's better to know that despite the murders committed, it is better for the victim to calmly call the operator while your own life is at stake. ;) Gotta love the 60s!
@ttiiyy It was befoe 911. If you needed to get ahold of the police in an emergancy you called the operator. rather than going through a phone book wasting time.
Operator, send a man over. I've got two crazy dames with the same ugly dress, annoying bracelets, and huge-ass eyebrows. You've got to stop her, I mean them!
Could her bracelets be any louder? lol. and yes they should make Joan Crawford masks for halloween.

it's the daughter, she did evil, and Joan drove her to it, always stealing her boyfriends.

The woman appears to not know her own house. Along with Homicidal a LOT more fun than Psycho despite the obligatory shower.
