  • so no part 4? lol ok then :'(

  • so this rly went to good use...

  • To be continued.

    When?..

  • Fucker i actually took a deep breath lol

  • Where are the next videos in the how to video

  • shockwave

  • Wow, this was really good!

But no matter what I searched, I couldn't get these videos to show up. A friend who likes this channel had to send me the link. I'm sure if you guys did some revising in the tags, at least include "computer pc build", then these videos would get a lot more views.

  • Anyone with decent computer knowledge PLEASE send me an email. If you want my email send me a message or contact me on XBL. GT: SqaudMATE ---- just like that please please please I don't have a computer handy only an iPod so I'll try my best to answer back. Please help Ty!

  • Cant find the 4th one

  • you has gotta finish this series!!!!

  • yeah where the heck is part 4???

  • People, look for a newer guide, this stuff is pretty obsolete.

  • @LittleBigR1 Like, where?

  • @LittleBigR1 This was release towards the end of 2010, how is it obsolete if it's only 3 months old?

  • @LittleBigR1 It's only 3 months old...

  • No part 4 no end build and all these parts are really just out date so not a great CID but for the most basic and I mean basic u got it ere just won't help u much with a new build

  • if i'm ever in a coma i wanna go to disney land :(

  • I like these videos.. makes me feel like... I'm not an idiot when it comes to computers!

  • part 4 !!

  • We need part 4

  • dont change voice! its awesome!

  • I got an ASUS mobo. It was Maximus III Formula 1156 socket :) Got a i7-875k for an unlocked multiplyer (Allows you to make the processor work faster when you over clock it, meaning when you over clock this one, it overclocks much easier and higher than a lets say... i7-950...)

  • we want part 4!

  • SDD>HDD?

  • @nativus222 yeah & like 3 times more expensive. hdd is more secure & solid so you have less chance of losing your data while ssd is allot faster but less stable so you have a higher chance of losing your data. so hdd = safe, a little slow from time to time but cheap and ssd is expensive, fast but not very safe.

  • i feel like my brain is being raped by a knife, its so confusing.

  • i feel like my brain is being raped by a knife, its so confusing.

  • The Geth voice is awesome. It's soothing. No need to change it.

  • WTF is a computer im confused :(

  • Omfg it's been like i dunno 3 weeks since the last episode. What happened!?

  • where is part 4!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How many people knew how to build a computer but got sent here by another video?

  • The voice is good!!!

    Doesn't has to change.

  • how do I tell what a motherboard is compatible with?

  • @thedude12368 Well, everything will be in the specs of the motherboard you are looking at.

  • where is part 4?!

  • @theangelswithwings r u fuckin idiot, what don't u understand about 'were done'

  • @MrMinecraft4noobs he ment the episode

  • I feel sorry for all the americans who has to watch ads before the vid! :P

  • @svh002 I feel sorry for all of them that don't know how to search ad blocker lol

  • Where's the new part?

  • @iTzDANiiEL What brands are you doing for? For the 460s go EVGA, MSI or another name brand with a good warranty service, the last thing you want is a faulty graphics card with bad a horrible warranty.

And yes you should be able to run pretty every game atm on 1080p without lag including Metro 2033. You could also look at overclocking, the 460s overclock like a beast, while the 950 can hit 4ghz easily with a decent cooler

  • I WILL SURIVE

  • @iTzDANiiEL Yes that's more than enough.

  • Fred the movie. oh no! -.-

  • The only thing that bugged me was the voice, could you go back and redo the old episodes with a regular voice? I kinda drifted after 2-3 mins in..

  • imo raid is a complete waste, it was orignally designed for servers not gaming pc's. Plus raid 0 (which gives you the speed) you need 2 hard drives for and if one of them fails then they both fail. And raid 1 which gives you the reliabilty you also need 2 hard drives when almost all anti virus packages come with online backup support.

  • @MrFishfaceman RAID isn't a complete waste, if your building a server having RAID gives you backup, sure anti-virus do give you back, but recovery from those takes ages and you might not have your latest configuration ready. RAID 1 means you have a total copy, no need to wait for the hard drive to reassemble itself.

RAID 0 Double speed faster load times etc. considering hard drive reliability these days it's not all that likely they will fail. And as you said online backup :P

  • @iTzDANiiEL if your going to spend that much money you might aswel get 8gb of ram instead of 6 mainly because if your running a 64bit OS which is presume you will be, you wont see that much speed difference between a 4gb 32bit and a 6gb 64 bit however with 8gb (which i have) you will see a substantial increase in speed/multitasking perfomance.

  • @MrFishfaceman i7 950 uses triple channel DDR3, so he can only get 6, 12 or 24 gigs of RAM. And 6 gigs is plenty, a lot of reviews find that going higher only gives your minute improves and double of more the price.

  • @iTzDANiiEL you bet your sweet cheeks you can run all games maxed out with that big monster:)

  • also talking slightly slower would help me

  • @iTzDANiiEL you can absolutly run every games maxed out, i don't have such computer like you and I can still run EVERYTHING maxed out (:

  • WTB part 4 NAO

    impatient SlackerInThePub is impatient

  • Never buy a premade PC.

  • @MachinimaNovak In that case, Intel makes sense. However, for most people, Sony Vegas is sufficient. Also, Hackintoshes are a pain in the ass.

  • ty Pc bro

  • THANK GOD NO MORE RETARDED VOICE PLEASE, OTHERWISE GREAT SERIES

  • loving this series, extremely useful.

  • ya stop the voice

  • who else got a Toyota commercial

  • Also, to clarify on PCIe electrical bandwith, graphics cards running at x8 will have very little difference in performance from x16. Most people don't have to worry about this because most motherboards have at least 1 PCIe x16 slot, but if you plan to build a system with SLI on a P55 chipset motherboard for example, it will be fine to run 2 graphics cards a x8 x8. You will only see a ~5-10% performance difference.

  • I'm getting sick of this bitch and her football playing son.

  • @falubii adblock pro FTW

  • awesome machinima! thanks for listening to me about the voice thing haha.

  • i ordered my xmas list today.... core i7 950 sabertooth x58 and 5870

  • @M0Rfig3R Man thats going to rock!

  • @M0Rfig3R Dude, that's a nice list... I think the 5870 has native hackintosh support as well.. Good luck w/ your PC.

  • what an awesome series!! keep 'em coming men.

  • i remember when my 16mb voodoo 3 card burned out 3 motherboards. quake 3 baby.

  • Pretty good, iv tried RAIDing before and couldn't get them to work together, I used my smaller HDD as the C drive and it filled fast, and when I went to go install a new program everything kept wanting to go too the C drive instead of the E drive which had plenty more memory, can I get any help? Lol

  • I am pretty new at all of this and the voice thing isn't a barrier for me. You do whatever you wish to.

  • ok so normal voice, will that mean we'll get rit of the Geth too? =D thx

  • I was listening to this guide and at the end i was like : "Say what?"

  • what's the important point in this video. even here is no pc gameplay video except WOW and SC2. Ha !

  • Could someone tell me which is better RAID 0, 1 or 5?

  • @LACHandLOAD RAID0 joins 2 or more drives(you can use all of the space) to increase read and write speed, but if any of them fails, all your data is gone

RAID1 joins 2 or more drives(you can only use the capacity of one drive) to increase data safety and read speed, it stores a copy of everything on every separate drive, so if one drive fails(you can increase failure resistance by adding more drives) you will loose nothing

  • @LACHandLOAD RAID5 joins 3 or more drives to increase read speed, write speed and data safety. It uses a more complex way of handling data, so not all motherboards and controllers support it. It is resistant to the failure of any of the three or more drives, adding more drives increases speed, but it can still withstand the failure of only one drive. Due to its complexity, it is usually somewhat slower than RAID0, and may cause more CPU load.

  • @LACHandLOAD You can also stack different RAID types if your motherboard supports it.

For examle RAID01 joins at least four drives to provide the benefits of both: speed and safety. The downside is that you need at least 4 drives, and you can only use the capacity of 2 drives. Say if you build the array from four 500GB drives, you will have a 1TB array.

  • @Madarpok Thanks I don't think I can afford RAID 1.

  • Yes, sometimes the robot voice is a little bit unclear. Thanks for scrapping it from the next episode.

And personaly, I bought my pc custom made from Databyte for somewhere around a 1000 bucks, and it's just as powerfull your computer will become when your finished with it =) Yay for 2 terabyte harddrives!

  • i wish i had the extra cash for a gaming pc. :/

  • the robot voice is better

  • RAID = Redundant Arrat of Independent Disks

Inexpensive was the old term for it.

  • I want that geth to build me mah computer !

  • @ghrazzt

Say the max price, and i gonne send some confings to you :P

  • i love u guys great work.. lots of good info for people that are just starting out

  • Great Guides keep up the good work and to voice is fine people just QQ to much

  • get rid of that goddamned music! god it's annoying!

  • This is a little rough, there are much better guides on putting the parts together, however, this does not mean the video is useless, this is the best guide on the web I've seen that goes into full detail of what every single part does. Short hand, watch the full guide 2-4 times, and then watch a guide on how to put the parts together, and mount it in a case.

  • @TheBenjiable There will be videos for the install of the parts as well. Just making our way through the info first.

  • keep the voice the same

  • CHANGE THE VOICE! i dont understand a word from what you are saying

  • don't change the tone of voice... it adds to the ambiance of the topic and don't make it boring...

  • can anyone give me a good gaming pc build for under $800? msg me.

  • @skatergamer189 This one clocked in at a little over $800

  • Luckly I have an older brother and uncle who are maybe going to build me a desktop

  • Is it better to do this as a beginner or just get an Alienware Desktop

  • @Sn3akyBeav3r If you actually build it yourself the desktop will mean more to you and you will have the basic knowledge for upgrading it at a later date

  • @Sn3akyBeav3r Never get a Alienware, Most unreliable computer out! and not to mention that it's 4 grand! and i could build better than that under 1.5 grand...I sugest if it's your first computer get a normall computer for under £400 and then just get a new Power Suply - PSU. and a new Graphic Card as the one in the computer will most likey be intergrated (means onboard, stuck onto the motherbord.) Hope this helps, Ben.

  • @Sn3akyBeav3r Do this. It undercuts AlienWare by, depending on the price, up to $2000. I have a friend who built a $2500 that was equal to a $6500 AlienWare. Don't buy AlienWare.

  • @SuperGauntlet I doubt that. It is significantly cheaper, but they don't mark it up that much.

  • @falubii No for most brands, but yes for Alienware. Dell has realized a lot of people are going to pay extra for the Alienware logo. Also building it yourself means you can choose quality components and manufacturer warranties can be a lot better.

  • @XxSTRlKERxX They don't mark up the components by 3x the price. Period. I've looked myself and that's a fact.

  • @falubii At really high end, Alienware = $6000, Other brands ~$4500, BIY = $4000. Also while Alienware cases look cool, they have shocking airflow.

  • DO NOT CHANGE.

  • DO NOT CHANGE THE VOICE!!! It is a nice touch. Makes it seem as though the computer world is reaching out to the novice user. I would actually show this to some people as basic training. It is well done.

  • Fuck normal voice, I love this one.

  • Awww but I liked the voice...

  • My god I built my own computer when I was 12 and I started using 3 monitors when I was 14

  • @SovietSammy Awesome.

  • @SovietSammy cool?

  • What do you guys think about a geforce gts450 ddr5? Good for WoW? I currently have 4gbs of ram, will i be able to run WoW on good? high? maybe ultra? I would like your input, i currently have a budget from 100 to 150 dollars, thanks in advance!

  • HOW RETARDED DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO NEED TO HAVE A GUIDE ON HOW TO BUILD A COMPUTOR??

  • @denvialdrigtalarom How retarded are you to misspell computer

  • MY BRAIN! TOO MUC TECHNO TALK! my nerdar is about ot explode... dont get me wrong i think after i watch it about 30 more ties i can start to understand it... and here thought i was a technicall person... anyway gonna go watch some big bang theory ot level myself out 0.o

  • @smil111yea Thanks for hanging in there! This was definitely the thickest part of the jungle.

  • this is the greatest thing on Machinima PERIOD!

  • can some1 show a vid that can explain this cus i dont know anything but i want to fix up my comp, and build my own

  • i need to know do most desk top computers have wireless? so i can connect to my modem?

  • @RoMFinishTheFight Personally, mine didn't come with wireless, but it's a couple years old. I had to buy a wireless card (which only cost about 40 usd for a 300mb/s card).

  • NOOOO!!!!!!!! Keep the voice, that's my favorite character from Mass Effect!!!!!

  • Could you make an episode on low spec to mid spec to high spec pc's and do reccomendations and value for money?

  • i have IDE!! or Ribbons! yay pretty computer xD

pci-e x16 2.1?? whats up with that one, just a faster data rate?

  • this is so helpful

  • umm... this series is Amazing... like... i want this to be a 50part series...

but i do wonder.. when you talked about RAID configurations.. why didn't you mention Striped configurations too?

And i also just assume you are going to talk about monitor's and the cord/port used on the video card in association w/ the monitor when you talk about video cards

but seriously Bravo, i Can't wait for the next one.(PS. the robot voice is a lil annoying, but adds flavor to it,drop it keep it IDC)

  • @flashjack15 Striping is a feature of different raid levels, so it wouldn't make sense to single it out as a topic. (i.e. Raid 1 being the only that doesn't stripe I believe, and the other RAIDS differ on the size of the striping, byte level, block level, etc)

If this series is sucessful, then it may expand into monitors, mice, etc, but we'll definately cover dvi, dsub, hdmi.

And thanks for the feedback, you help steer the show!

  • i say stick to the robot voice ...sounds better :l

  • no idea what the fuck these nerds are talking about

  • @d4rkn3z132 thats what the videos are for, duh

  • Im a computer master, im just watching this for entartaintment purposes <---(true, im not just showing off) I like this series, and im gonna watch till the end, cause i love getting things explained more than 10 times, and i love the robot voice its really cool, but its OK with real voice too, we dont want to scare the newbies, do we? Im gonna build my first rig may 2011 so i cant wait till then! Cause i accedentily bought an Xbox this summer :/ Lets just say im not a console gamer! PC is for me

  • The right connections on specific motherboards is important aswell. I remember having problems starting the computer because the "reset" LED plug was in the wrong slot. but right now my PC is running cleanly and crisply,

  • some1 give me the specs for a good build for around $700-800 for just the computer. No monitor/keyboard/mouse/speakers and a rather cheap sound card is fine because I always just use headphones.

anyone think they can pull this off? prefer Intel over AMD but whatever gets that price range! (however I do prefer ATI over nvidia)

  • @mikejclark for gaming of course wth the ability to eventually go crossfire!

  • @mikejclark If you want someone putting those specs together, youre gonna have to go with AMD, and no graphics card, or a really, really cheap one!

  • @mikejclark No, sorry you can actually get a decent graphics card, in the low end of midrange cards

  • @MadMadsGamer how cheap are we talking?

  • @mikejclark what about not a crossfire card. Possible now?

  • @mikejclark OK, I worked out some specs for you! Here they are:

    Motherboard: ASUS M4A78T-E AM3 110$

    Processor: AMD Athlon II X2 245 Regor 2.9GHz 58$

    Graphics card: XFX HD 5770 x2 300$

Harddrive: Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 78$

    Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB 50$

    Power supply: CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W 80$

Case: COOLER MASTER HAF 932 110$

Its gonna cost you around 800 with shipping, i think...

Please correct if i did something wrong. All the productcs was found on Neweggs.com

  • @MadMadsGamer So if anyone can find problems or mistakes i made in these specs, please correct them, i made this in about 30-50 minutes so dont hate if theres major mistakes!

  • @mikejclark im am right now working on some specs for you, and i found a good card for about 150

  • @MadMadsGamer sweet ty!

  • @mikejclark I think the case may be a little big, but i couldnt find any other good cases that could fit in those graphics cards, but to be sure these specs are gonna work, please go to a forum, and ask if this is a good setup, and if you ever do so, please send me a message with the link to the post. I would love to see the response it would get. Hope you like the specs! And i hope you appreciated my help, youre very lucky someone would do this for you!

  • @MadMadsGamer thanks x10. I'm post it overo n techspot and see what sorta feedback I get there. Not sure how I feel about the case going off the size but i'm reading that the air flow is amazing. I've never been a big fan of LED lights myself.

Thanks again for this, ill give you feedback once I get some from the intrawebs.

  • @mikejclark Thanks, if you could send me a PM with the link to the post? That would be nice. And its a good idea with good airflow because were running 2 graphics cards, and its generally a good thing with good airflow. I know the size can be a problem for some. And the good thing is, since you (or someone else) are building this, you dont have to plug in the LED's

  • @MadMadsGamer everything is free shipping cept the video cards. Total comes outto $791 before tax.

As for the TS post I can't sign in into I get home from...*cough* work* cough* :)

  • @mikejclark lol, youre at work! hahaha! im sitting here in the dark at 1 am in the morning. But just send me the link as soon as you have the post up! Thanks for appreciating my work, not many people do that! Good thing youre from the US else you wouldnt be able to buy it at Newegg.com!

  • @MadMadsGamer Yah I'm a big fan of NewEgg and also TigerDirect actually. I always check those 2 pages prior to buying (to find the better deal ofc) I'll shoot you a link to the post in approx 6 hours. Until then I must sit and my desk...watching a clock...doing this :)

  • @mikejclark I live in Denmark, so im restricted to TigerDirect, cause theyre the only one of those two who ships to Denmark. But if you know the sites and have bought there before, why didnt you just put the specs together yourself? I mean I love to do this and help and stuff, but i was just wondering?

  • @MadMadsGamer I know the basics of the hardware but never know what is a "good bang for your buck" if that makes any sense?

  • @mikejclark It makes sense, and now you mentioned bang for the buck, delete the two graphics cards, and replace it with this one instead:

XFX HD-687A-ZNBC Radeon HD 6870 Black Edition

Search this on Neweggs, and add this to your cart instead.

This is way better than those two cards combined!

  • @MadMadsGamer changed out and added that to my list. I just noticed I don't have an OS in the current package o.o lol

  • @mikejclark ohh yea... i knew i forgot something lol, but its not hard to get one, if you have a friend, or you can maybe get one from work, or you could pirate them if anything else isnt available. Or you could run Linux! if you are extremely desperate, use Linux!

  • @MadMadsGamer what about the EVGA 012-P3-1470-AR GeForce GTX 470 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Looks pretty good also and at a slightly smaller price + higher reviews.

  • @mikejclark im gonna look at it tommorow aprox. 12-16 hours. I gotta get some sleep now! Thats not what i get the most of.

  • @mikejclark the 6870 will run cooler than a 470, and give you the same if not better preformance. It all depends what your using it for. f your playing WoW on it, dont bother with a card that nice and just buy a 5750. if your playing on 3 30inch monitors, buy the 6870. Theres alot of fanboyism between Ati and Nvidia, but i would recommend the 6870.

  • @24allix How you know I play WoW :P Yes I'm building a new PC for cata :) So does that setup sound nice for WoW on high settings?

  • @24allix talkn about the PowerColor AX5750 1GBD5-HV2 Radeon HD 5750 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card ?

  • @24allix @mikejclark i think well go with the 6870 because of the reasons allix stated. Now, i was gonna ask you how many screens youre gonna run your games on, so if you could tell me that, that would be nice!

  • @MadMadsGamer 1monitor for now..I'd love to have 2 eventually. My current monitor is an 22 or 23" LCD can't remember the size exactly.

  • @mikejclark sorry for my incomplete build for you, i also forgot a DVD burner, search this, an add the top one:

    ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS

  • @MadMadsGamer ha I totally looked over that too, good catch!

  • @MadMadsGamer almost any case around will fit crossfired 5770's. im not sure if tiger direct sells any of them, but newegg certainly does. try the antec 300 if your going cheap, or any of the Lian Li cases that are small. 5770's are not that huge. btw, im not hating on you, im just adding a friendly suggestion

  • @24allix Thanks for the friendly tip, thats always appreciated! But if you read the newer comments, we changed the card to 6870. And i checked the Antec 900 case and there were only 0.10 of an inch space left after you in the 5770 card in. Thats what Newegg said on their measurements of the case, so i wouldnt risk there not being space for the 2 cards.

  • @mikejclark This exact build is just a little over 800 with shipping, and is intel.

  • honestly, just give me a list of all the parts your getting and il try and get very similar parts, you said your spending less then 1000 dollars and thats my limit. i want future options in my pc. i would like the parts list in the description of the next video because im planing to get a pc by christmas

  • A Geth learning us to build a computer..?

    Ironic.

  • @RevaqOfTheLight I'm assuming you mean 'teaching us'?

  • @RevaqOfTheLight A machine in every home, no one will see the uprising coming.
