i just discovered tangerine dream about 30 minutes ago. super hip. i recognize the video took a lot of work and i think it's good, but it just doesn't seem to fit. i feel like it needs to be more minimalist
@porkpiebelly early ambient trance music. from the 70s. wasnt easy to construct back then.
go check tron: legacies. you;'ll hear lots of this kinda music being revived. guess its time to just exit the world to keep yourself safe from it then, yes?
If you dont like it then dont listen to it, but please accept that there are many people out there who do like it and refrain from making infantile derogatory comments.
My music collection includes genre as diverse as Al Bowlly and the Killers, i do not like Rap but millions of people do, therefore it is not crap.
There is no such thing as bad music, only music that is not to your taste.
@mr122b I disagree, there is some bad music, for instance, Providence by King Crimson (love the band, hate the track) that track is probably the worst thing ever recorded. If you find one person who likes it, I'll agree with you.
This is without doubt one of the greatest pieces of music ever - I never tire of listening to this (30 years now) and I find it hard to believe some people dislike this, whats that all about ?
@ballrigors1 so you're saying that the universe is a marble and you are the creator? i'll buy that... shiat, you should build a religion! you should be on a leash! SHUT THE FREAK UP!
By the way.....fantastic video....this must have taken a long time to create. It does not correspond to my mind, but I like the creative expression very much. And the degree of perfection. Very very cool job. I tremendeously enjoy watching it.
Great album, that i first listened at 15 or 16 years old (i am 52 now). Those days ..73-74, i felt it like 'music from the cosmos'. And i still do. I dont listen to it that often anymore.....but WHEN I do, its like meeting old good friends. Because, those days it was a part of me, and that will never change through time. Tangerine Dream has always been an important part of my life. (until they fucked up with the easy going and nothing saying albums). But thats oke. They were there, i own them.
I have loved this for over twenty years, since I first got into TD. What strikes me is that this music, this classic partly improvisational music, is never to be repeated.
Few images with the radio-telescopes looking the deep universe, far galaxies (that's in my mind asociation), but is great also this abstract 3-d graphic & sur-realisme,
Hey guys don't limit your views of God to what the Judeo-Christians say - I love that specific part of Revelations, its very poetic ( and God is a Poet) but it's really just alluding to the fact that "god" is circular and infinite - the beginning and the end don't really exist at all. LOL by my understanding at least. There's a lot more info out there you just gotta look and it's not just about having faith in what others tell you!
God is a complex theory of a belief system. Some here believe less than others. I believe there is a universal consciousness. If consciousness is not within our realm then why do we look up at the stars and wonder whats out there. One universal consciousness. Until one dies the answer of God or no God will not be answered. Its a "Leap of Faith".
In my opinion, theres no such thing as god, if in god you mean the multiverse, then yes, but i believe religion is an archaic form that needs major reform in this day and age. When i listen too this music, it reminds me of the ''uncertainty principle'' nick named Shroedingers Cat, anyone who doesn't understand what i mean, Google it under Physics?
But too put it simply this music opens my imagination too the infinite possibilitys of space time, and the paradox we call reality?
I also don't believe in a god, but some religions claim that god is everything that will happen and everything that is. Therefore, if there is a 'god', then it is most likely the universe and all of time in a sequence. So god =
Just remember that everything is connected and has a purpose, thus all is one and happens for one reason.
I also don't believe in god, but I've heard a theory that god is everything in existence, and his word is the outcome of any situation or action. So it isn't a being, it's just a cross between the universe and all of time. I dunno, I'm just a simple buddhist :)
Hello @Democritus8181 the uncertainty principle is not excatly in conterory to the concept of god. The Shroedinger equations describes the duality, and uncertainty of the particle/wave system which is not again in conterory to the concept of a universal consciousness. and if consciousness exists, then a universal consciousness is equal to the concept of GOD. See, the problem in here is the consciousness. Google Dr David Chalmers articles. I think u will like em. God I'm such a fucking NERD! Haha
musically describes the creation of earth, from after the nova storm, hostile lava flows till forming the atmosphere, ocean, microbes and animals at the end.
Masterpiece... they should include this track on the pioneer vessel launched in 1973.... damn a year to early.
Phaedra for me it's the best piece made by TD of ever.
Anytime i listen it ... i think about a machine, a computer or may be a 'positronic brain' that tries to feel... emotions ..that usually are part of the human being.
I always dreamed about the very first part of Phaedra ..remembering the very first acts in the Asimov's book 'The End of Eternity'... and.. it's simply perfect.. !
Tangerine Dream was a psychedelic group that used LSD. And if you think it is so demonic, maybe you shouldn't listen to a band who spent time using these hallucinogenic drugs.
And I have felt in touch with God WHILE on LSD, so maybe you shouldn't talk about something unless you've tried it.
I am a fan of Tangerine Dream and know well the history of the group!
Even the name Tangerine Dream is a reference to the use of hallucinogenic substances that the group has used the end of the 60s, when it was called "The Ones".
This is visible in the song "Lady Green Grass."
I do not really use those substances. I love Tangerine Dream, I'm a fan, but totally condemn these actions by the group and do not take this as an example.
I agree with you completely on your views about LSD here. And to each his own etc.
Except that, while you manage to separate LSD from space music very well, you don't seem to be able to separate religion from space music. Can you see then that your views are strikingly similar to the views of Baculus etc., just with different links to space music?
It let the mind flow through the cosmos through the three-dimensional sound waves that propagate through the celestial song!
The music alone takes us to places unimaginable, by their very nature capable of opening dimensional portals of the mental universes without the use of noxious and malignant!
Recalling that music is not heard and not listening to music, you feel!
And nothing better than to unite business with pleasure, sound and image, creating personal imaginations!
Hello Kdusenra. I can agree with your point again. However, as you put it, your comment that this music provides a connection with the divine is something that only you can say, and is another connection with God incidentally :)
On the other hand, my view is that listening to this music does provide a link with something deep-rooted, but that it can surely be explained by science, maybe not by our current understanding but it can be explained 'somehow' by 'someone'.
I have to agree with pantherius...you did such an ASTOUNDING job with this, but I have to wonder why you did an edited version? Would YouTube not allow you to do the full 17-minute track? This remains my favorite Tangerine Dream track of all time, and is what officially ushered me into become an electronic new age music fanatic. Great job...just wish it could have been the entire track.
@majk2006 late response but there is one problem. MTV don't play music no more (not here in the US anyway). It's all about teenage girls getting knocked up and douche bags who are crashing the Jersey Shores.
Bravo, bravo, yar! Bootifully executed. The passion of Phaedra. The textures, the age, the original, the best. Ruby-Con fave chillout, and Ricochet the Great. No others quite like these. The private life of members, it bit me! Each of their lives is what it pleases!

I separate very well the other one!

Andyib632 Hello, I think there was a small mistake. Or you did not understand me correctly, or I do not get it right placement.
I am not religious, I am only son of God and have Jesus in my life, but that's beside the point!
It's not a question of separating the Cosmic Space Music of "religion" is to separate the providing of what sucks!
In my view, the SCM creates a direct connection with the divine, is an underlying feeling that lives in the soul.
