WE saw this same bug last night in Austin Texas. I didn't know Click Beetles had glowing eyes. Nobody at the party had ever seen one of these. We weren't scared, but it's amazing with the world surprises you with something as cool and simple as this.

I saw one of these bugs in Sayulita, Mexico this summer.  Apparently it is a click beetle. Those are not eyes, but glow to help it see at night.

I *just* caught one in my front yard a few minutes ago! All I saw was a neon green bug flying around and I knew I had to catch it! Thankfully it landed, and I climbed to the upstairs walkway and snagged him or her with a gallon sized Ziplock baggie! Once I caught it, I moved it into a 4 gallon clear pitcher with a paper towel/rubber band covering the hole. This thing is TOO neat!

The one that lures males of other species to eat them is that one of Photuris ( Lampyridae).
