i returned my samsung series 7 chronos today after a day use!! and i was starting to get use to the trackpad too..dull matte screen! wasnt too happy about that!!

major graphics problems running hd videos on vimeo glitching out and green screens!!

GO ON THAT SITE PEOPLE AND TEST YOUR SAMSUNGS! i herd its happening to all of them! it has also fully crashed black screen and screeching and clicking noises went mad!

it was worth my money when i had these problems! :S any recommendations for another

Hey Lisa, I'm considering getting the Envy 15, and I was just wondering where you got yours from. I checked HP.com and there I come to the conclusion that it'll cost 1,474 dollars with 8 GB of RAM at 1600 MHz, the 750 GB 7200 rpm HDD, the base core i7, and the 1920x1080 display. I just wanted to know because you said that the one you have is 1299. Thanks in advance.

I mean just that you show us that keybord trampolin thingy just shows how mush effort you put into it and i realy like you show me befor i buy the laptop. I love your reviews. Just a quick question for value in the 1000$ + or - $300ish is it worth it to get a Samsung 7 if I'm only using this for portability, movies, and other basic uses (maybe some editing). I have a gaming desktop more than powerful enough for any game on my 1080p display so idk if it would be worth it to get such a powerful laptop. Should I go after a smaller laptop with less power and maybe cheaper? I don't want anything heavier/bigger than the series 7.

I need help choosing between these two computers. I am a computer science student and need a laptop for c++ and android development. Also i will be doing linux compiling with the laptop i choose to buy. the hp has a higher resolution display so i can see more code on the screen at one time but the samsung last longer. Both have the same i7 so they will have similar if not the same compiling speeds. Please give me your preference, Lisa, for my situation, thanks.

I have the envy for 3 weeks now and i love it.... im impressed with the sound quality and how loud it is without distortion. the 1080p screen is a must add option, the red/orange issues are over reacted, never bothered me. Just wish it has the slice battery option as the envy 14.

@LG141602 Not at all. Hp did a good job with the cooling for this version. The Hp coolsense gets job done. Just when gaming the computer gets hot but only under the screen top area, where i believe is the graphic card. The palm rest, touchpad and keys stays cool.

@LG141602 yes it does, around the S and D is where u feel it more. but i notice it after someone mentioned. U need to type hard to see the flex. buy a microfiber cloth in advance, the black lid is a finger print magnet

Thank you very much for your extensive reviews, they really help. I have two suggestions. First, please place the laptops on a desk big enough to accommodate them and second, please have the same wallpaper on both screens because that helps in making a side-by-side comparison.

Not sure if HP is using different wireless adapters, but my envy 15 I ordered from HP has an Intel Centrino Ultimate N 6300 AGN wireless adapter. This is the model that supports up to 450 Mbps over wifi, quite good.

I agree that the Macbook fanboys need to bark up another tree. It doesn't look like a Macbook, and if it does And? You can have the Macbook look FOR LESS, the same specs, FOR LESS, the same/better performance and power FOR LESS. HP knew what they were doing. Great laptop, and great review.

awesome video...i had just had few other questions...ALot of reviews ive been reading about the samsung is that theres a sharp edge on the samsung near the palm rest and that it can even cut? is that true because there are tremndous amount of people who have said that and i wanted to know if there is and where would it be? I just cant put it to mind. Also does both of them have widi hotspot connection (for 4g mobile brand internet) built in them or not?

@JRFvids Our Chronos does not have a sharp edge that could cut you. It didn't even cause me any pain :). Neither model (in the US at any rate) has 3G or 4G.

thank u so much.it seems like ENVY has won the smackdown but @ the same time its 200$ more..but last night i bought on ebay the dell XPS 15z for 1070$ total..the specs was i7-2640M 3.5GHz 8GB 750GB 7200 RPM BACKLIT 1080P 300nit 2GB NVIDIA and good sound system..it costs on dell's website 1500$,im not a gamer nor an editor.i just watch movies and shows on the go.Full HD without laggin and good battery will be enough.u think i got a deal for it or.i paid too much? @g1981c I know someone who recently bought the Envy 15 which is why i'm looking at it. His was speced out to bascailly a high end Macbook Pro 15 inch, little better ram, video card and HD on the Envy but still close enough. He paid 925 dollars (with a coupon), the Macbook Pro is 2200...  I would like to buy a Mac and get really comfortable with the OS, right now I have a bit of experience with it but not a whole lot..but the price different is just stupid.

@StealthGhost i agree some apple products are way overpriced. but some other apple products are priced very well. for example i paid $1399 for my 27" imac, which is roughly what a 30" dell monitor costs by itself and most people prefer the quality of the apple display. also macbook air is priced well for an ultrabook.

@g1981c Yeah I'm mostly just talking about the laptops and I guess the Mac Pro too (desktop). I have the U2711 which is the same screen as the iMac 27. Retails for 999 so at retail the iMac is a great deal, but I paid 700 for mine.

Apple's site says the iMac27 is $1,699 though At 1700 it's not a good deal for a desktop, maybe for an all-in-one it's not bad though. At what you paid it's pretty reasonable.

@Awayze I'm pretty positive HP meant for it to be a "rip-off' as you say. The Envies are supposed be a similar, but cheaper alternate to the MBP. Who cares if it looks like a black MBP, it has similar specs (if not better GPU and audio) and can be up to $700 cheaper.
