@narutofan1942 This is the second pilot, the one that sold the show. Spock, the costumes and the sets look different because they reused everything from "The Cage" (Jeffery Hunter pilot). I'm not sure why you've never seen it. It was originally shown as the third or fourth episode in 1966 and has been in the regular syndication rotation ever since 1969.

I liked the movie and am willing to give them a chance, especially if they keep their promise and inject social commentary into the sequel now that the characters are set.

That being said, Pine, Quinto and the rest can only continue the saga. This will always be Star Trek to me. Picard and those who followed were characters on TV. Kirk, Spock and the rest were old friends.

The graphics in TNG is much, much better, but all that Political Correctness (all the beautiful women were suppressed for plainer ones, for instance) made the interactions between the characters in Star Trek much much better. And that goes for all the rest of the sequels too. Too much worry about ppl's sensitivity to have a real knock-down, drag-out, azz-kicking show-down confontrations (of any kind) during the plots.

Janeway was as frigded as her crew, DS9 was a was a revolving condom, Worf took 3 seasons to finally get to knock-out-by-surprise two guards as he walked in the door--the first battle he won since the series began.The guests were hot, the crew was not.

Did you also notice? Klingons = Russians Romulans = Viet Namese Ferengie = Japanese eco-warriors cardassians = Whites, males, and especially White Males of America And so on. Each sequel occured and reflected the highest social threat of its time. I stopped watching in the middle of DS9 and Voyager, it became too boring. I stopped hoping for some Kirk-style kick-ass that never came. The Enterprise Movie was good! Thanks for responding!
