  • FANTASTIC. The video creation is superb. I do not have that condition, but I am sympathetic to those who have it and I'm in total admiration at this interpretation. Good work. thank you.

  • im a synesthete, i have the type were i see music in a kaleidoscopic way, and months and time float around my world, also i see numbers and letters with colors, it never becomes a problem. But this stuff is really funny to me

  • That's crazy! This video has the same title as my new album, Synesthesia. This awesome video Terri made visually expresses all the concepts of this condition. You can download the title track for free at my website.

  • at 2:15 he's listening to katy perry

  • anal beads at 1:31

  • @YBBALOL What is it like?

  • Ahhh asians...

  • Hm...sometimes I relate a color to a taste, or an idea to a smell. I'll smell something, like say a Playstation, and say it tastes and smells like purple.

  • up to the moment when I became aware of it I haven't had any troubles or problems with it. everything was normal for me, and I embraced my gift afterwards.

    now I can't imagine the world/life without music :)

  • WTF.

  • I actually got a chance to see this installation.

    Very awesome :)

  • THIS IS GREAT!

  • This is really awesome and all, don't get me wrong, but seeing all of that food get wasted is kinda hurts me as a chef...T↔T

  • The only thing I don't like about this awesome video is that the tape recorder isn't moving in many shots. Was that intentional?

  • Man, is it just me or does anyone else think that synesthesia is one the coolest neurological conditions ever?

  • @EdwardReggae I can tell you firsthand - it totally is :D

  • I am watching this again :3

  • Haha, I love Terry Timely's work.

  • .......cool.....

  • OK, I'm lost... (What's this nonsense anyway???)

  • @HaoSci Synesthesia is the mental condition when 2 or more scenes are mixed together. tastes become colors, you see sounds, smell words. its a very interesting condition

  • @HaoSci Google SYNESTHESIA and find out for yourself?

  • @HaoSci Google SYNESTHESIA and find out for yourself?

  • WOW !

  • Oh My God!! This is the best video I have ever seen!!! EVER!!!

  • I dont understand what the video has to do with synesthesia. ????...could someone help me out here?!

  • @JBieberFanLuv apparently if you have that condition,it can be different ffor each case, you can smell color see sound,or better like the guy who hold the word record to remember pie number he see nember in shape

  • @JBieberFanLuv The two boys each have a different kind of synaesthesia... the one on the floor is smelling records and saying what color they smell like (so he perceives smells as colors), and the one with the headphones is 'listening' to the different foods (he perceives taste as sound). The stuff with the giant speakers shows how sound can be perceived as different colors, shapes or textures. It's a pretty fascinating condition, especially to live with. :)

  • @TheWarnerSister the whole family has it, the mother tastes words, and the father sees sounds

  • i liked it very much.gj.

  • A good replacement If conversation in families stopped

  • Very very minor detail, but the subtitles with the colors are incorrect(?) Not sure if this was done on purpose or...

1:07, he doesn't say blue, he says green.

1:14, he doesn't say green, he says purple.

  • Idk wtf I just saw but it was pretty unique to say the least.

  • Does anyone know the name of the song?

  • I laughed so hard when that kid vanished in a puff of smoke. XD

  • I do not understand it, but that is why I like it.

  • i see colors when i hear sound.

    yay, synesthesia! ^__^

  • Moral of the story: Don't stick headphone plugs into your bellybutton.

  • i'm scared for some reason

  • what picture(s) in this video should show synesthesia?!

  • what is this ment 2 be

  • wrong.

  • @wbr531 Not a mental illness, it's just a different way for the mind to categorize things.

  • awesome. this guy shouldn't go crazy or get lost though.

  • hey!! That boy's my son!! :) :) I think he did an awesome job! he worked for 12 hours 2 days straight on this movie! Thanks everyone for your positive comments.

  • there is also types of synesthesia when number and letters have assigned colors and personalities. this is an interesting viedeo.

  • @cellogirl55 i have that number colour thing and i see music in coloured lines and waves

  • i'm synesthetic. never talked to another one before :/ if you are, send me a message! and i'd love you forever! but this video was very true.

  • @forlifehilary i have it, it is more logical than this video shoes. you are not crazy unless i am too! my numbers and some letters have colours and music can create colours in my mind when i am quite tired like lines and waves. but i haven't made any significant taste analysis yet..what is your experience like? (PS al the characters on my keypad are white and that makes me feel anxious and controlled)

  • I am too but the video is far beyond what I percieve. I see letters and numbers in color and words have a texture. I can analyze a persons name and have hit on the personality from it as well.

  • Comment removed

  • does that mean you see them in colours? or what?

  • if your synesthetic, what would fire taste/hear/smell/sound/look like?

  • When I hear it I see black and grey popping shapes, and some thin snaps. Its really hard to describe.

  • This is an interesting video, however I don't understand it at all.

  • synethesia is a condition in which one's sense perceptions are mixed up, so for example someone might see the color green and smell a chicken, or hear a song and see colors

  • @CandyBekah, Synesthesia is when the senses get mixed up, you maybe f.x. taste sound or hear taste, and this film is portraying the oddness of this "disorder"

  • A staid approach on a dynamic subject with unlimited potential. It carries with it the seeds of inspiration, Thanks for the window and your view

  • This is wonderful. I love it.

  • perfect!

  • If anyone was curious what the boy was saying when smelling the discs.

he was saying the colour red, blue, yellow and finally pink in Cantonese.

  • This is really neat! I'm wondering if I have slight synesthesia as I've been noticing that I smell (and taste, to a degree) things that I see, so I'm doing some research on it...looks like I'll never know for sure if I have it but it's still kinda neat to be able to smell colors and things I see on the computer, things that wouldn't have a real smell.

This video smells like mild curry powder. Hehe. :)

  • You definitely have a small case of Synesthesia. I made a short film on Synesthesia as well (It's on my profile)..

But this film is much better.

  • the color of the song didn't match the color of the video

  • saben algo este video esta loco y me gusto!!!!!!!!

  • what is this I don't even

  • When something was plugged into a piece of food, it represented a person experiencing a mixing of their senses when they tasted something. It's like they could taste a shape, sound, or color.

  • a great short film, one that requires some effort or the average person to appreciate. a note on the translation though, which does bug me a little since i think i know the language being spoken (Cantonese, but with a weird skewed accent)... that the subtitles are inaccurate.

  • subtitles are always inaccurate, because often there is simply no room to put all the text.

how inaccurate is it? subtitles are supposed to be summaries of what is being said.

  • Yeah, it was inaccurate. He would say "purple" and the subtitles said he said "green".

  • Comment removed

  • this was intentional. the directors wanted to continue to play with the audiences senses, hearing one language and reading the subtitles of another one, in this case improper cantonese.

  • AMAZING!

As a Film Student in LA who is very interested in Synesthesia I just want to say GREAT JOB!!!

    Props to your DP!

Win any festivals with this one?

  • why are you interested in synesthesia

  • Being able to portray the mixing of senses is a difficult task. That being said, I think it came out quite well. I epically liked the ending because it made me think of what would happen if you looked at yourself in the mirror while experiencing life in that way.

  • @DaPeffa So you would look in the mirror and think, what's that blue smell...err, it's me.

  • what`s the name of the song that starts at 2:00 ?

  • Reminds me of Luis Gisbert work, maybe it's just the sound aspect of it or the surrealism... I'm not sure.

  • Great work!!!!

  • Very interesting, though I'm absorbed in the song. Was it created specifically for the video, or was the video edited to match the song? Either way I wish I had the song :/

  • this video is amazing i am soooo sorry i wanted to click on the play button by mistake it clicked on the 1 star !! wtf :(

i wanted to giv it 5 starsss yoo !!

    Amazing work !!

  • totally rad.

  • Amazing! I find synesthesia really fascinating. This video was hard for me to watch because of the music, to many squares and circles...then the wiggly lines toward the end of the video. But interesting to watch.

  • Very cool short. Loved it.

  • Fantastic! Finally a video that really captures Synesthesia. Well, how I experience it anyway. I saw the 3 S's before the 5's. My S's are dark blue so when they appeared as yellow my stomach instantly knotted. One of the downsides of Synesthesia.

  • Although there maybe downsides to Synesthesia I would kill to have the ability. People with it like yourself are very special and 1 out of 23 or 24 have the ability.

  • what are the downsides?

  • I heard sometimes that depending on the tone of someone talking it is very irritating for the receiver and sometimes it can be displeasing to eat.

  • when you've had it your whole life it's hard for it to become a problem. I'm a synesthete. Please don't kill me

  • Ah I see well that makes sense. I just heard from the internet I never knew if it was true though.

  • That's cool I wish I was a really strong one. I have a bit - I see colours with certain words but it's very weak.

  • this shit is crazy

  • Genial! super!!

  • Nice piece of work, being a sinnie myself I loved it!

  • wow! incredibile love it

  • im so confused

  • really great!

    "whats the lesson?"

-bug off goober, shorts don't have to have a mesage

  • and whats the lesson ? dont understand this short

  • You probably will never get it, if you do not have synesthesia! Did you see all three S's at the beginning? Most likey all you saw was a screen of 5's...I see fives as the colour blue and my S's are a pale orange. I detected the S's before they appeared highlighted in yellow. Some people taste words, and hear colour.

  • amazing!

  • What's the name of the song from 2:00 on?
