Did you know at in WWII era that the army did an experiment where women with basic physical fitness level were given specialized intensive training and then given the same basic assignments as humping 220 lbs packs for 5 miles over heavy terrain etc. 2/3 of those women were able to pass(male was the only standard then)the standards that qualified them to be assigned into combat units.
I know that there are some women who can't be in infantry or special forces, as there are men. However that does not mean that NO woman could. If she meets the qualifications necessary than allow her that chance. In the Canadian Military women are in combat positions and have been for decades and it hasn't presented a problem. In the US military now in the Sand Box women who are qualified are 'attached' not assigned to combat units and preforming the same tasks equally.

I guess American just have trouble sending Daddies little Princes in to the front lines of a conflict with an assault rifle. They have been dying in the field in A-Stan and Iraq, whether or not it is officially entitled 'combat positions' or not. Where you completely incorrect in is that Canada does 'go to war' as you put it. In fact they are fighting right by our side in Afghanistan(Britain is in Iraq). They were responsible for liberating Holland and other European countries in WWII. They have a strong military.
@BmCNinJa I personally know a Canadian Colonel(paratroopers) he has many females both enlisted and officers who are in combat(official and everything). They have been doing this for decades with absolutely no issues at all. He also has Marines who serve as transfers for tours in his company and they learn first hand how females blend seamlessly into the units. Anyone one of any gender who can pass the grade should be allowed to prove themselves and serve their country.

What I said is that they function with equal success and that if they can maintain the physical fitness level and skill sets to be in full out combat situations then there is no logical reason to not give females the opportunity to take the training and determine whether or not they could succeed in special forces as well. If they don't meet the standards then they wouldn't pass and be certified the same as males.

Honestly this movie inspires me. I am a girl in the Navy NJROTC, I am the only girl that is a squad leader (first squad pretty much)that is in my platoon (class) . I get crap from my squad because I am a first year, and that I am a girl. There is only 4 girls in the class and all boys well I have an all boy squad. They think that I can't do the job sometimes. I scream and yell at them and tell them off. Honestly I just love to prove them wrong. :D

In addition, In Ranger training you can give all you got in the training process, but still not be accepted as a Ranger. They chose really who get to be a Ranger or not. In seal training if you giva all you got in training then you are given the seal badge. Yet, no elite group is better than the other. Each have their ups and downs.

The rules and regulations of the army are the way they are because of the inflexibility of a group of 60 year old men in Washington who never got it through their thick skulls that the world changed while they were away in Vietnam. And what good is it to try and try again for somebody like me when combat experience is the gateway to hadvancement? Why try when I can never become a 4 star general?

Unlike the men, she wasn't even trained for it...because women aren't allowed in combat zones, even if the reality is that they often find themselves there anyway.

I'm sure there is a female that is capable of becoming a SEAL, but if they are that athletic they would probably go compete in the Olympics vs joining the military. Did you know at in WWII era that the army did an experiment where women with basic physical fitness level were given specialized intensive training and then given the same basic assignments as humping 220 lbs packs for 5 miles over heavy terrain etc. 2/3 of those women were able to pass(male was the only standard then)the standards that qualified them to be assigned into combat units.

I know that there are some women who can't be in infantry or special forces, as there are men. However that does not mean that NO woman could. If she meets the qualifications necessary than allow her that chance. In the Canadian Military women are in combat positions and have been for decades and it hasn't presented a problem. In the US military now in the Sand Box women who are qualified are 'attached' not assigned to combat units and preforming the same tasks equally.

They have been dying in the field in A-Stan and Iraq, whether or not it is officially entitled 'combat positions' or not. Where you completely incorrect in is that Canada does 'go to war' as you put it. In fact they are fighting right by our side in Afghanistan(Britain is in Iraq). They were responsible for liberating Holland and other European countries in WWII. They have a strong military.

They have been doing this for decades with absolutely no issues at all. He also has Marines who serve as transfers for tours in his company and they learn first hand how females blend seamlessly into the units. Anyone one of any gender who can pass the grade should be allowed to prove themselves and serve their country.

What I said is that they function with equal success and that if they can maintain the physical fitness level and skill sets to be in full out combat situations then there is no logical reason to not give females the opportunity to take the training and determine whether or not they could succeed in special forces as well. If they don't meet the standards then they wouldn't pass and be certified the same as males.

Honestly this movie inspires me. I am a girl in the Navy NJROTC, I am the only girl that is a squad leader (first squad pretty much)that is in my platoon (class) . I get crap from my squad because I am a first year, and that I am a girl. There is only 4 girls in the class and all boys well I have an all boy squad. They think that I can't do the job sometimes. In addition, In Ranger training you can give all you got in the training process, but still not be accepted as a Ranger. They chose really who get to be a Ranger or not. In seal training if you giva all you got in training then you are given the seal badge. Yet, no elite group is better than the other. Each have their ups and downs.

IMO women shouldn't demean themselves by being in direct competition with men for military jobs that are (pretty much) gender specific. Elite forces are a prime example. Women aren't as strong as men; the best we could be is as strong as a pretty feeble man.

Oh, and BTW, before you say I am talking out of my ass, my grandfather was part of the 507th Airborne in WWII...one of the first of his kind. I may not be as big as my grandpa was, but I sure as hell learned not to take shit from nobody from him!!

@lvrpatriot01 The same thing was said for many years about blacks in the military: the claim was that they were too stupid to be officers and would ruin the corps d'espirit if they didn't serve in segregated units. Now, we have them as 4 star generals. Many people say that gays can't serve in the military....but when translators were suddenly missing in Iraq and Afghanistan, the tune started to change.

@lvrpatriot01 The first person to win a silver star for exceptional valor since WWII is a WOMAN: Leigh Ann Hester. In spite of her so-called weakness she exceeded her mostly male counterparts in bravery and managed to bring down 27 insurgents at once. Unlike the men, she wasn't even trained for it...because women aren't allowed in combat zones, even if the reality is that they often find themselves there anyway.

@lvrpatriot01 There is PLENTY of room for modifications in special ops, in particular the b.s. attitude. As the needs on the battlefield and in society change, so must the military. "The attitude should be, "You mess with one US soldier, you mess with the whole US in combat!!"
