  • bad thing is, some keys stick, like the D when you were typing

  • Hey i got my Royal Portable Typewriter Model 2 1930. I bought mine from ebay for 126 dollars. But when i wanted to use the backspace, it didnt work. What should i do?

  • @friken0frank2 It can take a 1/2" two-color ribbon.

  • I have a Royal 200 portable. It's made in Japan. It's small, smaller than that you have sold. That's a bit looking more like a semi-portable. That's before the Depression Era I think. There was also a red model. Their difference was the tabulators. One of them has one and the other doesn't.

  • @HLD452 Well each machine is special in it's own way. And if you're going to be talking in terms of practicality, typewriters are not for you. But I appreciate your contribution of information.

  • @TheWritertype

    Thanks.

  • i love royals they have the really antique look and shape, and especially as they were tested by launching them out of airplanes, you know quality is not failed :)

  • @Phantom95music Makes you wonder where all the quality has gone in today's world, eh?

  • @TheWritertype gone and replaced by cheap labour because price is the neccessity in both america's and britain's failing economy -.-

i rly like royals, id love one just to write novels coz i have a little olympia splendid 66 and its just got a carriage problem so that wud just be sooo good -.-

  • @Phantom95music Well I have a royal quiet deluxe (which is amazing) for sale. I have made a vid of it on my channel if you are interested.

  • @TheWritertype id love one but i already have 2 and i have no money, and i live in britain so thats going to be a load to ship =[

  • I just won a black Royal Portable with white glass keys from the 1930's almost exactly like this one on eBay for $33.77, and it's in almost perfect condition! Was that a good price or what?

  • @DrNTropy808 That is a very good find indeed. That sort of thing is fairly uncommon on ebay.

  • @TheWritertype It said all it needs is a cleaning and a little oiling, but it came from one of those sellers that could care less about what they are selling, if you know what I mean. I sat there for the last 3 hours of the auction and no one else bid on it except me. There were 5 other bidders that had only bid once each, but they apparently weren't watching it so I won. It's a beautiful typewriter indeed, as I can tell from the very high quality pictures. I can't wait to get it in my hands.

  • how do i find a ribbon for a Royal HHP and a Royal AG

  • @skpmathews I sell those ribbons

  • @TheWritertype how do I order from you?

  • @makepots I use my email to do business: typerestore@gmail.com.

  • I honestly hate the feel of my royals. It feels like a shocking sensation when I hit a key. Just imo

  • @TheMike894ftw Perhaps you need to have it adjusted.

  • Can you make a video of the stencil feature?

  • @Morahman7vnNo2 I can explain that feature without a video; Stencil would lock the ribbon vibrator and allow mechanics to press keys without getting the platen dirty.

  • @TheMike894ftw It helps control the paper scale.

  • how so?

  • @TheMike894ftw Feel behind the button and follow the lever up to the paper scale. It acts as a release for it.

  • Thanks a TON. I pushed it and now the bell works! 2 last things. Where is the margin release and what does the paper scale do except look good? Thank you again. I was about to throw out the poor thing!

  • @TheMike894ftw Some Underwoods don't have one; if there is not one on the keyboard, then there probably isn't one. The paper scale allows the user to see how the margins are aranged

and how much one is typing in terms of space and space left.

  • I beat you out. I'm 13. I fixed a typewriter with the basket pin missing. There where levers...EVERYWHERE. It is now fully functioning. And in great condition.

  • I have been recreationally fixing typewriters since I was 13, but I just went into business last year. I have restored many, many machines. But it is not a contest.

  • Indeed. The real competition is to get to the typewriters before the key cutters do!

Thats the tough part. Look up typewriter keys on Ebay. Its sickening.

  • @TheMike894ftw Yes indeed.

  • I potentially am going to buy that Royal.

  • That would be fine with me; although we will have to do it outside of paypal. It is a beautiful machine.

  • I'll see what money I can come up with. FYI, your typewriters are, by standards, are pricey. I hope that it is in tip-top shape. The avg. price is $50-100, btw, for those Royals.

  • My machines are always in amazing condition. They are oiled, given a new ribbon, polished, tuned up, tested, and cleaned.

  • @caesiume I do sell ribbons. Red/black or just black, universal spools for $15 each.

Regular printer paper will work just fine for typewriters.

  • @TheWritertype Actually, the ink smudges horribly on that printer paper. The best paper is Hammermill Copy Plus. Ink doesn't smudge, it's a nice weight, and it's only $7.00 per ream @ Staples. (One ream is 500 sheets)

  • @plungerdrum Thanks!

  • @TheWritertype No problem! It took me a little while to find the right paper, and I finally found it after trying out a few types.

  • Oh, yes, without a doubt! I just don't have the money :( But, whoever gets it will be one very lucky person!!

  • Nice man! If I had the money I would love to get my hands on one of these!

  • @plungerdrum This is still reasonable compared to some other sites.
