The atmosphere consists mainly of nitrogen (75-80%). Carbon is good in certain doses and in certain states. It certainly is NOT good when levels approach 450 parts per million CO2 equivalent in the atmosphere, acting as a greenhouse gas. We are approaching a dangerous 'tipping point', after which the Earth's climate will make human civilisation impossible to continue in a vandalised biosphere. Monbiot is backed up by science.

FACT: the earth is constantly changing we all know that. Since 1970 the artic has gotten COLDER and 450 to 1 million is literally 2 inches on a football field. Also the "Greenhouse gas" theory is based upon scientists asuming that CO2 traps heat. It might very well do so but to this day there is still no hard proof evidence on or around the world saying that global warming exists

go to google and type in global cooling brittish columbia and click on the first one. Then go to google and type in global cooling and click on the third on to read what people thought in 1975 and thought was PROVEN SCIENCE

No i cant but all their studies are not PROVED studies even though everyone treats them like it is. Actually its all a theory because it hasnt been PROVED. Show me absolute PROOF that the earth is warming. Also did you look at the 1975 article?

Greenland is melting (dramatically).

Antarctica's area is decreasing.

Large areas of the world's coral reefs have been bleached (killed by heat.)

It's very easy to average out world-wide temperature readings.

There was a small amount of global cooling in the 70's due to smog. Quite right.

ACtually antartica's ice caps have INCREASED in the past year. Also did you notice how in the 1975 article (wich you didnt read) that EVERYONE thought that we were all doomed and they even suggested WARMING the earth by MELTING the ice caps and all because the crops had a bad year. Now its exactly opposite and they are doing everything to COOL the globe.

You see when the earth heats up the sea releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, when it cools down it sucks it in. So when we think carbon dioxide is causing the heat to rise heat is actually causing carbon dioxide to rise. Go to google and type in the great global warming swindle on google videos and if you ACTUALLY watch it and dont be ignorant you might learn something if you are REALLY concerned about the planet you should watch it

Also i suggest you read The Population Bomb by paul R. Ehrlich, it says that by 2000 the population will be 12 million and there will be too many people on the world and we will all starve. It was written in the 80's and obviously he was wrong. They still ask his opinion on things. He had all these facts that PREOVED that it was gonna happen and everyone was getting into a huge hissy fit about it and BAM he was wrong.

no its an example, it became a relegion and a fear that we would die from overpopulation just like global warming. Also after doing some more reasearch i found shockingly that HEAT doesnt folow carbon dioxide, CARBON DIOXIDE folows heat. Think about it we dont push out that much carbon dioxide, decomposing leaves push out more than we do. But the BIG one is the sea.

They can't even acknowledge that this (if even true), may be part of a normal climate cycle...Explain to me why scientists say that the polar caps on Mars are warming at the same rate as the Earth...Could it be the suns fault??? Yes, weather is complex.

However, it is easy to average out world-wide temperature readings.

Since the turn of the century, it's increased 0.6ºC.

A decrease of 1ºC would send us into an ice-age.

An increase of 1.4ºC will set about changes that will extinguish civilisation.

This is the first I've heard about Mars. But it makes no difference.

We cannot live with a much greater average temperatures. CO2 and CH4 cause warming. Unless you know of a better way to cool the globe... start walking.
