@cuzitfeelslikeflying don't worry, I already did. The question is, why does acting like a general ahole running stops and screwing with traffic make you a bad ass? Seems terribly INefficient to force yourself to one gear ratio to climb unless it's constant grade, you tailored the gear ratio, and you don't have to go back down. Gears, while they can make things easier, don't necessarily have to. What they really enable you to do is attack.
@Shadowboost Ride however you like. I like all types of bikes, geared ones including. I choose to ride fixed because it's simple, I don't need a bunch of gears I probably won't use, and I just like the way it feels. I never said running stops and screwing with traffic makes anyone "bad ass." I don't like that these riders go brakeless (I believe everyone except track racers should use at least a front brake), but that's their choice, and they can handle it. Gears can tempt people to be lazy.
