  • @Harky1951

    Hi Pamela,

Thanks. That old Taylor is finally broken in I think :-)

  • Sounding very Cool Allen, you made a very nice arrangement of this legendary theme,Neil sure wrote some great ones, this guitar has great projection, bass good too. Good feeling, really taking time to make the Music breath, very good work. I uploaded a new Blues Vid and tried to Email some players, but all the time I get "invalid Email address" this new system doesn't function adequate, Vic.

  • @Jazzguts

Thanks Vic. I keep trying this finger-style thing. I bought that guitar back in 1984. The wood has matured nicely.

I don't know what's going on with YT email. So far I have been lucky and had no problems. I don't want to miss anything from you. Just send a link to my home email address.

    Un gran abrazo Hermano,

  • @MOSDEFemcees

Thanks. I will send you a message.

    allen

  • Hi Allen -- really like the feeling you put into this, with a sensitivity the song deserves. Outstanding. Beautiful guitar as well my friend. Congratulations!

  • @ThinkingDog06

Thanks man. You have a taylor 815 as well correct? I have had that thing awhile and it has aged nicely.

    Thanks for listening and commenting.

    allen

  • Beautiful. What a joy to sit and listen to.

  • @slocangirl

You are very kind. Thank you.

    allen

  • Beautifully played Allen. Your fingerstyle playing is excellent. Your guitar has beautiful tone also. Thanks!

    Steve

  • @Stevepat1

Hi Steve! How are you? When are you going to upload again? It's been awhile.

Thanks for listening and commenting. Learning finger-style is a blast. I was getting tired of playing old jazz tunes. This is a nice change for me.

    allen

  • Posso dirti solamente: BRAVO!!!! un'ottima esecuzione, come al solito senza stonature, e molto fluida :-)))

  • @bernablues

Grazie mille Domenico. Le tue parole sono molto gentili.

    Il tuo amico,

    allen

  • veryo good, i like this rendition a lot. Compliments|

  • @micallo58

    Thank you very much.

    allen

  • Wonderful rendition with a lot of feeling. I have had the pleasure of learning this arrangement from Jacques himself at a workshop. These slow tunes are harder to play than it seems, and you made it sing :-)

  • @pachacamacs

Thank you! Jacques is an amazing player and a very nice gentleman. I changed some of his voicings to use more open strings. A couple of the voicings he used I could not make sound right to my ear. That is why Jacques is a world class player and I am just an enthusiastic amateur.

You are a very fine player too. I just subscribed to your channel. Your performance of "Old Man" is excellent!

Thank you for listening and commenting.

    allen

  • @pachacamacs

Your YouTube ID reminds me of an Inca city I once visited in Peru.

    allen

  • Such nice effects in the higher register, Allen! Luv the warm and

pure sound of this guitar. Your adding of the D on the 2nd string

during the G chord is most wonderful. I find myself favoring this

form. Had to listen more than once. :)-

  • @MisterVirtual

Thanks MV!. I have owned this guitar for 25 years or so. I think it has aged nicely. I added a touch of reverb. There are no internal electronics, I just sit in front of a microphone and hope it comes out ok. I have searched everywhere for a pickup that reproduces the acoustic sound. Still looking? Any ideas?

    allen

  • @carvetop01 Hey Allen, I think the setup you're using is just fine. I tried using a 'lace' pickup for

the Dobro & it just didn't cut it. Pickups change the acoustic purity. I use an Audiotechnica PRO-L5 microphone. Very happy with it.

  • Hi Allen You play with a great amount of feeling and style. 5*'s

    Nick

  • @1moreguitarplayer

Thank you Nick. You are very kind.

    allen

  • A good old song

    played excellent and with calmness,

    it's a pleasure to listen

while i sit at front of the ocean.

    Cheers ~ Crystal

  • @CNlyrical

    Thank you Crystal,

Your latest video Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring is stunning! Thank you for sharing.

    allen

  • Excellent playing Allen, very expressive, just the way these pieces should be played.

  • @1edkihm

Thank you Ed. I don't even want to think about me trying this on a 12 string :-) I enjoy your creative arrangements very much.

    allen

  • Very nice playing. Makes me want to buckle down on that one! Played with very nice sensitivity!!

  • @gdshepp

Thanks Gerald. I look forward to hearing it on my Madrigal :-) It just does not seem like 41 years since that album was released. Time does indeed fly by.

  • Hi Allen ,I dont know this tune, but I like all your tunes,Ive seen a long time ago Jacques Stotzem here in Holland, this man is awesome ,and so are you,by the way the guitar is that a Taylor ,its a beautiful guitar.warm regards Kees.

  • @Keesfarida

Hi Kees. Thank you. Jacques is an amazing player and a very nice person as well. That guitar is a Taylor I bought in 1984. I think it has aged nicely. (better than I have aged). Thank you for listening and commenting.

    allen

  • @carvetop01 New guitars sometimes pretend to be aged - aged people sometimes pretend to be young. We are of the honest kind and pretend nothing, and that´s most beautiful way, isn´t it?! ;-)

  • @FrankRMusic

    Well Frank,

I may be old but I got to see the coolest bands :-)

    allen

  • Very nice playing with much feeling. Well done

    Greetings from Detmold/Germany

    Joerg

  • @SIRONEDRAGON

Thanks Ken. Can you believe it has been over 40 years since that song was released? I'm getting old.

    allen

  • @carvetop01

Allen Time is a race that is hard to beat : )

  • @SIRONEDRAGON

True. But as my son is fond of saying "I may be old but I got to hear all the cool bands".

    allen

  • @carvetop01

I really LIKE that saying of your son's !!!

  • BRAVO! Just wonderful Allen. ty!

  • @rhocando

Thanks Rhonda. It's always good to hear from you. Love your latest upload. Great energy. Better thank a jolt of caffeine :-)

    allen

  • @guitarpicka1

Clever. Thanks for listening. What are you working on these days? I still have Georgia on my mind.

  • Just beautiful, Allen!

I saw Jacques Stotzem several time live, he's a great guitar player and a very kind person. You really developing on your fingerstyle technique - bravo, my friend!

    All the best,

    Bend

  • @BoeckmannLudwig

Thank you Bernd. He is a very kind person. I have corresponded with him a few times. He is quite a gentleman. Have you noticed how the really great players are all very kind? Franco Morone is another classy person. Your video of "South Wind" introduced me to Franco.

Thank you for listening and taking the time to comment.

    Cheers my friend,

    allen

  • Holy Cow Allen... this is breathtakingly beautiful. The sensitivity with which you are playing is tremendous. You're really letting the piece breathe. And I like how sometimes there is a single line melody without a chord. The profound hesitations at the end are just perfect. Really well done.

  • @archtopbrownie

Thanks Lance. I am getting better at figuring the stuff out. I have NO idea what this song is about. I like the melody and harmony. The lyrics just make my head hurt :-)

    Thanks again,

    allen

  • @carvetop01 The way you play it it doesn't need a lyric.

  • @carvetop01 And by the way, yes, you figure it out... and then you put it in the right brain and just feel it. That's a sign of mastery.

  • Hey Allen, what a wonderful performance on this. Very emotional! Congrats. This is really a great arrangement. I know some of his arrangements but not this one.

    Beautiful sound on the Taylor!

    all the best - Uli

  • @Mpoiuz

Thanks Uli. I changed some voicings to suit my ear and let me use open strings a bit more. Jacques is a brilliant player and a clever arranger. I real gentleman as well. His latest album "Catch the Spirit" Contains some very clever solo guitar arrangements. I had fun working on this arrangement. Check out his other performances.

Cheers and thanks you for listening and commenting.

    allen

  • Love the harmonics, Al! Beautiful rendition! That guitar sounds wonderful! Great playing! <3 Babs

  • @babs4TLove
