  • This should be the official music video for the song. Great video, beautiful flower and good music choice. ^^

  • @amsbindi1 Thank you very much. It's an old song now and, if Liz Phair has seen the video, she hasn't told me about it. :)

  • how you shoot it

  • @hamsterpajrules123 On a cheap crappy 320x240 webcam with a table lamp for lighting - all the details are in the description.

  • @hamsterpajrules123 My mistake, I didn't put the details in the description at all.

I used a freeware security package to take the photos then another freeware software package to put them together into a video. The camera wasn't tracking the flower, I only moved it once every couple of days when the flower was about to grow out of shot and then used Adobe After Effects to make it look as if the camera was following the flower.

  • great video , with everything going on around the plant , great song too

  • skip the first minute, save 60 seconds of your time.

  • Awesome video to go with this song! Love it!!!! Great job.

  • Brilliant

  • I love the song and video...filthy is the medieval approach on every and any thing....

    Keep up!

  • So bloody cool! How did you manage to keep such a steady pan? Just always try to keep in in frame by hand, or with some sort of measurement?

  • Hello. You mentioned an interval of taking 1 photo every 13m 20s. Why that exact interval? I like to do Time lapses also...so, just curious why you chose that time.

    Thanks!

  • How very cool. I'm wanting to do something like this with my flowerbed. I thought about taking a picture of it every morning on my way to work. You did a great job!

  • Stunning video. Loved it.

  • this is so cool, looking for something like this for my myspace page.

  • so cool

  • Great video...too bad the song has unacceptable lyrics. I wanted to shot this to a high school photography class but can't because of the song. Do you have another version with a different song?

  • Unfortunately not. Couldn't you simply turn the volume off?

  • Comment removed

  • @drewloker square teacher

  • @drewloker but i respect your values

  • @drewloker where??!?!???

  • Brilliant Produced Video with a brilliant Song, well done 5* and faved!

  • I understand what you were going for with the music, but I think you sort of missed it. The Amaryllis is such a beautiful and unusual flower and the music that accompanies it should highlight that, I don't feel your choice does, in fact it cheapens it and destroys the experience. Yes, the stem and the flower are contrasting colors, but the beauty of color contrast is that the presence of each color makes the other seem more vibrant. The music you set to an image should do the same.

  • GREAT VID!! This should be the official video!

  • Fkin sick dude------------

    4-*'s

  • You're not the first person to ask that question so I've changed the desription to include an explanation (just click on the "more info" link to the right of the video.

  • @autoteller

Gods handywork lol... Ignorance is bliss...

  • Wow! Beautiful!

  • Weird lyrics! Why Liz Phair would sing this is totally nuts!

  • how did you get the camera to move up

  • what this remind you of when is not opening?

  • hippeastrum in the house!! Love the video; love the song...I thought i twas so appropriate, especially as the calyx was bulging , and the split. Sex is everywhere.

  • echinoderms

  • I love plant time lapse. I enclose one of my videos

  • Great video. I am sad because mine fell over on itself. It had 5 blooms and the stem bent in half because of the upper weight. Yup, should have staked it.

  • Great video, and funny choice of song.

  • came here looking up Amaryllis, because I'm having trouble growing my own. But after seeing Liz Phair's video version, I like this better.

  • what decided the time interval? Just curious cause its not exactly a simple one

  • very cool! i like how the camera followed the bud!

  • You know - I just don't get why someone would put so much time and effort into a video and then pair it with a song that turns people off!

  • that was such a beautiful video, just dont understand why you would ruin it with a stupid song like that.

  • I love the time lapse video and I liked the music till I replayed it and listened to the words! WOW! I did not expect such explicit lyrics. However, it is a nice video.

  • Why did you put that music with it? Do you have a perverse thing with flowers?

  • "I want to fuck your dick is blue"

  • i think its " ill fuck you 'till your dick is blue"

  • i am so high

  • I love this so much. Liz Phair has always been a favorite of mine and this video captures this song perfectly. Flowers are the sex organs of plants!!!

  • that song set it off! great work

  • Your video actually inspired me to play with time-lapse! Thank you!!!

  • that was so pretty. and so was the flower...

  • Nice video!

  • what was that song called?

    sounds reall familiar.

    i love this video.

  • would have been nice to see the entire plant, but this is good.

  • Nice quality.

    Very well for a beginner.

And I found the song humorous.

  • wow i loved it!

  • nice.

not so sure i liked the song though

  • ...And some people still argue there is no God?

  • Very useful to me as someone waiting patiently for his damned amarlyllis hippeastrum to bloom. Thank you for sharing. Interesting choice of music.

  • i coulda sworn the song said "i want to fuck you like a dog" lmao

  • It does

  • Hell yeah! I had to listen to it again.

  • growing penis!

  • was there a lightning storm at the end?

  • how did you get the camera to follow it so smoothly?

  • I didn't.

I used Adobe After Effects afterwards to make it look like the camera was tracking the flower.

  • My cousin has a webcam with motors in two axis. It tracks your face at real time when you move around. But I don't know if that can be used to track a flower in a time lapse filming sesion though because it may be distracted by other things between shots.

  • the song is funny, good choice, good filmography

  • First Attempt!? That's way of a better outcome, than I could ever do. keep up the great work!

  • That was a really good time lapse, even for a first time. I enjoyed it, very beautiful.

  • brilliant! How inspiring. I watched this after planting a dozen or so amaryllis to give out as hostess gifts this year. Bravo brother!

  • amazing timelapse

  • whoa this was kind of creepy but really beautiful c:

  • WOW! that was so cool! and I liked the song too!

  • how unbelievebally cool! And actually i kinda liked the music too. great work!

  • Weird music, but great video! I'm growing an Amaryllis now, that's how I stumbled across your video. Good to know what to expect. Very nicely done!

  • Ooo God! It's so ... (I don't have words...) beautiful :D

  • this should be the actual video for the song. it's excellent.

  • Brilliant

  • That was really awesome. I loved it. The background music was a great choice. It was rather interesting.

  • i like this very much

hey, im looking for someone to make me a video for one of my tracks?

im unsigned so i thought maybe this will appeal to a studant or so for a project!

if there's any interest, get in touch

    thanks

  • Very good for your first time laspe! May I suggest that maybe next time you could try to place a solid color (sheet or posterboard) behind the object you are shooting. The random activity going on in the back was a bit distracting.

  • whats the song?

  • this song is annoying

  • how did you get you webcam to take a pic every 13 min or did you manualy do it

  • that was really awesome, I really enjoyed that...two questions - 1. How did you have the flower centered so well the whole time?...2. Also, how long did it take for that flower to bloom?...

  • great vid!

and as for the song....any girl who says she's never had dirty thoughts like this about a special guy they are LYING!!

  • haha awesome time lapse video. am studying it in school at the moment. really good.

  • lol at 0:02 and at 0:07 theres a cat on the couch.

  • swwerererdf

  • lol at 0:02 and at 0:03 theres a cat on the couch.

  • lol at 0:02 and at 0:03 theres a cat on the couch

  • lol at 0:02 and at 0:07 theres a cat on the couch.

  • awesome. background,music,flower. amazing.

  • Yeah dude, good timelapse, kind of strange music, but hey whatev.

  • omg that is huge,

but it would been better if you take a picture of the entire flower,

if i were u i wouldnt have enough patience to take photos every day

    awesome :)

  • so if you take a picture every 13 minutes approx. how did you get any sleep?

  • wow, i think that song went great with it! it was... magical. nice job

  • Stunning. Just stunning. I do time lapse stuff, and have always wanted to do a long term project like this, but my camera gets too much use on a day to day basis. Rest assured, I can appreciate the tremendous work that went into this.

I also found the song choice to be just perfect. It was well worth going with the explicit lyrics, even if it might hurt your viewership. I honestly thought it fit the imagery incredibly well.

Just a fantastic video. Congratulations in the extreme.

  • wow!

  • That was really good,I really enjoied it,loved the way you turned the plant once in a while, and the song blends in with the images really good ( well, the lyrics are a bit off,but it's still great,i'm gonna go download it right now :D ),for a first time,i think you hit the jackpot ;) !

  • my time lapse sucks compared to this lol.

    good job

    loved it.

  • every 13min? like day and night?

    i agree with Whirlygigg

  • That is so cool. Awesome job with the time lapse photography.

  • ROFLMAO, pause at 0:07 and u can see a guineapig

  • how tall did dat get

  • that is a beautiful movie! i actually thought the music went, it's just the lyrics that were...out of place? lol. but overall it's very cool

  • woah thats cool there was like 4 flowers in that

  • ohh my the turns are brilliant

  • the opening looks like me yawning in the morning

  • i have a friend named amaryllis and there was some really wierd imagery going on for me in terms of the song but i still liked the song and the time lapse

  • Watching n hearing this made so so fucken relaxed in a good way, thanks

  • really awesome, i'm impressed!

  • That video was pretty cool and that song makes me laugh good job

  • Do you have a version that is suitable for children? I'd almost forwarded the link to my kids because of the beautiful imagery. Too bad they are too young to enjoy this clip.

  • Mute the volume, or go to Live Video and find it, then you'll see another version that somebody else put to their own music.

  • Wow! Impressive. That makes me want to buy a webcam that can track movement. Will movement in the background screw up the tracking? 800s per picture and 25 frame per seconds. That means the time compression is 20000 to 1. Am I right?

  • OH! que bonita! fue un poco desesperante pero valió la pena esperar para verla!..=)

    Muy bien lo felicito!

  • very good work for a "first timer" i realy like the changing angles :)

but why ecsactly every 13m 20s??? why not just every 15minuts.

What program are you using? timelapsemaker?

    greetings ...:::THENERD:::... :)

  • Wow, towards the end, the video become starkingly frightening and beautiful at the same time, especially during the darker moments. Beautiful amaryllis.

  • Cool video...should've played something pretty to go with it... not that Liz Phair garbage.

    Check out Dean and Britta..."Nightnurse"

  • wow nature is absolutely magnificent. that was beautiful. it was almost sexual. what is it about flowers that are so sexual?

  • WELL done

I tried to do that several years ago but it didn't work out

The amaryllis is an amazing flower. I have just put up my own video about Amaryllises, but it is quite different to yours!

    WELL DONE

    *SMILES*

  • lol OMG a dog boner!!

  • I haven't heard this song in too long and it was you who introduced me to this song.

(This is Fred btw, as in the girl who used to be friends with your daughter)

  • am i right?

you took a picture every 13 minutes and 20 seconds for a month?

    :O

    how would you sleep?

  • Did you think I stood there with the camera and a stopwatch?

I used the computer to take the pictures - they can do a lot more than browse the web, play games and send emails!

  • Not bad??? that's brilliant. Honestly brilliant. It's seductive in a way, and truly astonishing to watch life unfold. It would have been interesting to see it follow through the dying process as well. How long did it take you to get the amaryllis flower to sprout? Ah, I can't get over it. I think I'll name my next daughter Amaryllis.

  • Wow that was beauty at it's best [:

    ~Punkie~

  • Awesome video.

Art at low cost: really cool

    Nice soundtrack too.

  • Still is a awesome video xD Good job!

  • very nice but why does the quality decrease dramatically at flowering?

  • That's really beautiful - I like being able to see the goings on of your house in the background - it gives a great sense of time. And I live the changing camera angles - makes it lively.

  • Thankyou very much for your kind words.

  • i like it a lot and i think it goes well with the song. it makes me feel like making out!

  • That's great - unfortunately I'm something like 5,000 miles away from you, so you'll have to make out with someone else. ;o)

  • that song was...

    erm...

    strange?

but the time lapse was actually really good for a first time!

  • Thank you very much for your kind words.

  • Personally I would have used different music, (though I did gat a laugh out of it) but, that's a really nice time-lapse and good choice of plant to use!

  • Thank you very much for your comments.

  • sorry if i am missing it but what is this song?

    good video btw

  • Thanks for the comment, the song is "Flower" by Liz Phair from her 1993 album "Exile to Guyville".

  • The most beautiful thing I've seen in a while. It's amazing what nature can do. Congrats for the vid.

  • Thank you very much for your kind words.

  • What a lame song.

  • Thank you for your in-depth review of my video, however your comment about the song has gone to the wrong person - it was written and performed by Liz Phair - tell it to her.

  • I don't seem to have made myself clear to you.

I don't know how to answer your question because I had nothing to do with the production of the song. Ask Liz Phair, not me. It might be useful if you included a recording of one of your own songs so she can learn how to do it properly.

  • Thank you for your in-depth review.

  • nice vid and song :P

  • Thank you.

  • AWESOME

  • Thank you very much.

  • That is one of the best video's i've seen in a while, good filming with the wierd effects, reminds me of pink floyds the wall, very amazing, and good song whats the name of that btw?

  • The Wall is pretty much my favourite film.

Thanks for the comments and the song is "Flower" by Liz Phair.

  • Beautiful video!!!

    Regards

    Susana

  • Thank you very much Susana

  • It's so beautiful, while so much things happen around him, he still easily goes his one way.

  • Well said - I like the way you worded that, it's an excellent summary.

    Thank you very much.

  • pretty!

  • :o)

  • Nice amaryllis. I've got 3 at home that I'm

    raising to bloom again.

  • Awesome!

  • awesome job :]

    i liked it.

  • Thanks.

  • very nice, at first i thought u were making another parody, but this is really nice

  • Thank you so much for your comment and for taking the time to watch so many of my videos. This is the first video I ever made, it was for my kids (but without the music!), then a friend suggested I put it on YouTube, so I did.

  • lol to the music

  • awesome job man... but was there a thunderstorm for like a week or something? haha still good

  • Thank you for the comment, I see what you mean about the thunderstorm, it does look like lightning, but it's just the sunlight throughout the month of filming.

  • Awesome. Interesting to very last sec. Good soundtrack. Thank you.

  • Thank you very much for your comment.
