@hamsterpajrules123 My mistake, I didn't put the details in the description at all.
I used a freeware security package to take the photos then another freeware software package to put them together into a video. The camera wasn't tracking the flower, I only moved it once every couple of days when the flower was about to grow out of shot and then used Adobe After Effects to make it look as if the camera was following the flower.
Hello. You mentioned an interval of taking 1 photo every 13m 20s. Why that exact interval? I like to do Time lapses also...so, just curious why you chose that time.
How very cool. I'm wanting to do something like this with my flowerbed. I thought about taking a picture of it every morning on my way to work. You did a great job!
Great video...too bad the song has unacceptable lyrics. I wanted to shot this to a high school photography class but can't because of the song. Do you have another version with a different song?
Well, I could, but the audio is cool, until, well, you know. I just shot an amaryllis growing over the past three months...and am trying to decide on music...and how to get YouTube NOT nix my audio.
I understand what you were going for with the music, but I think you sort of missed it. The Amaryllis is such a beautiful and unusual flower and the music that accompanies it should highlight that, I don't feel your choice does, in fact it cheapens it and destroys the experience. Yes, the stem and the flower are contrasting colors, but the beauty of color contrast is that the presence of each color makes the other seem more vibrant. The music you set to an image should do the same.
You're not the first person to ask that question so I've changed the desription to include an explanation (just click on the "more info" link to the right of the video.
hippeastrum in the house!! Love the video; love the song...I thought i twas so appropriate, especially as the calyx was bulging , and the split. Sex is everywhere.
Great video. I am sad because mine fell over on itself. It had 5 blooms and the stem bent in half because of the upper weight. Yup, should have staked it.
I love the time lapse video and I liked the music till I replayed it and listened to the words! WOW! I did not expect such explicit lyrics. However, it is a nice video.
I love this so much. Liz Phair has always been a favorite of mine and this video captures this song perfectly. Flowers are the sex organs of plants!!!
My cousin has a webcam with motors in two axis. It tracks your face at real time when you move around. But I don't know if that can be used to track a flower in a time lapse filming sesion though because it may be distracted by other things between shots.
Very good for your first time laspe! May I suggest that maybe next time you could try to place a solid color (sheet or posterboard) behind the object you are shooting. The random activity going on in the back was a bit distracting.
that was really awesome, I really enjoyed that...two questions - 1. How did you have the flower centered so well the whole time?...2. Also, how long did it take for that flower to bloom?...
Stunning. Just stunning. I do time lapse stuff, and have always wanted to do a long term project like this, but my camera gets too much use on a day to day basis. Rest assured, I can appreciate the tremendous work that went into this.
I also found the song choice to be just perfect. It was well worth going with the explicit lyrics, even if it might hurt your viewership. I honestly thought it fit the imagery incredibly well.
Just a fantastic video. Congratulations in the extreme.
That was really good,I really enjoied it,loved the way you turned the plant once in a while, and the song blends in with the images really good ( well, the lyrics are a bit off,but it's still great,i'm gonna go download it right now :D ),for a first time,i think you hit the jackpot ;) !
i have a friend named amaryllis and there was some really wierd imagery going on for me in terms of the song but i still liked the song and the time lapse
Do you have a version that is suitable for children? I'd almost forwarded the link to my kids because of the beautiful imagery. Too bad they are too young to enjoy this clip.
Wow! Impressive. That makes me want to buy a webcam that can track movement. Will movement in the background screw up the tracking? 800s per picture and 25 frame per seconds. That means the time compression is 20000 to 1. Am I right?
Wow, towards the end, the video become starkingly frightening and beautiful at the same time, especially during the darker moments. Beautiful amaryllis.
Not bad??? that's brilliant. Honestly brilliant. It's seductive in a way, and truly astonishing to watch life unfold. It would have been interesting to see it follow through the dying process as well. How long did it take you to get the amaryllis flower to sprout? Ah, I can't get over it. I think I'll name my next daughter Amaryllis.
That's really beautiful - I like being able to see the goings on of your house in the background - it gives a great sense of time. And I live the changing camera angles - makes it lively.
Personally I would have used different music, (though I did gat a laugh out of it) but, that's a really nice time-lapse and good choice of plant to use!
Thank you for your in-depth review of my video, however your comment about the song has gone to the wrong person - it was written and performed by Liz Phair - tell it to her.
I don't know how to answer your question because I had nothing to do with the production of the song. Ask Liz Phair, not me. It might be useful if you included a recording of one of your own songs so she can learn how to do it properly.
