@vvorldtraveller I use a Merkur 34 (aka the HD). It is a safety razor that uses old-fashioned razor blades. It is very well made, I've had one for about four years now and I'm very happy with it. Some good straight razors (like the razor in this video) are the Dovo shavette which uses disposable blades, or if you want a proper straight razor then consider the Dovo Special. Those should all be within your price range. Also, check out the channel mantic59 for great old-school shaving advice.

tip from Moroccan street shavers: you dont want to pull the skin tight. rather, use your other hand to push the skin towards your razor, making it almost into a loose roll that you can shave with ease.

i get baad razor burn and lots of ingrowns mixed with mild acne and am thinking of switching to a straight razor, brush, shaving paste, and the Moroccan method

@b0ssh0gg not sure where you got that info, but every single major shaving forum and all the straight razor experts say to stretch the skin. you don't want to stretch too much when using a DE/safety razor, but you absolutely must when using a straight. pushing the skin towards the razor is a great way to get cut.

@shavefan12 for a closer shave most definitely... stretching the skin will reveal more hair and a closer cut. for a smoother, less irritated shave, no stretching. it's easier to shave when the skin is stretched too, but it sends my skin on the fritz... don't know if i mentioned irritable skin in my previous comment but that's why i was referring to. and a great way to NOT get cut is.. slow down ;)
