What makes Christianity or any other modern religion different from the old Greek myths of old that today's religions laugh at? I understand your question. I was a bit suspicious too. The Bible is written 15000 years ago by 40 different people. Among them are priests, sheperds, farmers, fisherman and kings. Ofcourse there are inconsistensies! However, almost all of these can be solved by being aware of few main points: translationproblems, contrasts made on purpose, differency in registration, Eastern language, etc,etc. To know more read Drs. I'm a former Christian Apologist (amateur) turned atheist...I was teaching a seminar on Mormonism, when an ASU Professor of Religion approached me afterward and commended me on my Teaching, and then issued a challenge "By the standard at which you judged Mormonism, judge Christianity by that same standard, and have the intellectual integrity to use non-Christian sources"....I did that, and a year and a half later became an atheist.

I absolutely do not know it all, but their is a serious error in thinking that we should step away from it all....It needs a different kind of faith to not believe in God. You are right when you say we should ask ourselves the question ‘what is the meaning of it?’ but you should also ask yourself ‘who wrote the book and with what intentions?’. He will not do that, because he believes that it is very silly to make a decision without the use of reason. This is the reason why you will always fail at getting him to know that there is a God, and this is the reason you will always think he will be punished for eternity in hell. How do you think they will be able to keep things entertaining in hell if it goes on forever?

@supersmash43 It's scary though, man. They tend to forget what Jesus meant when he said love your enemy (I don't think he meant kill them). It can rend families to shreds, relationships strained. A lot of people will not use reason or question because they know it might undercut the entire structure of the life they built upon their irrational beliefs.

God does want all people to know him. The problem is that many people have chosen not to know him. others simply have never heard his truth. God gave us all the freedom of choice and freedom to think for ourselves. He doesn't want robots who are forced to serve him. He wants us to serve him of our own free will. I'm sure you'll point to some example of a baby being pulled from the wreckage (by hard working rescue crews) and declare it a miracle, whilst passing off the thousands of other deaths as just happenstance.

But I can check to see if an apple computer exists, any one can. God should be so easy to prove just like any one can prove gravity. You can ask anyone anyone to prove gravity exists and they can. But for an all knowing God to see the future and see the outcome of today he failed.

@drakeluvr89 God doesn't send ppl to hell nor does he want them to go there. we have free will-we can chose god or reject him. if we reject him, we will pay the consequences. and if you think about it, there's no such thing as "innocent people". We've all sinned and messed up (don't believe me go check out Exodus 20). We deserve to burn in hell but god loved us and hence provided a way for us go live with him.

@yukinotayfun Actually, the chicken came first. A recent science study shows that the chicken did in fact come first. The egg cannot be laid unless it comes from the chicken...thus, the chicken came first (that's an abridged explanation of course.)

I understand your question. I was a bit suspicious too. The Bible is written 15000 years ago by 40 different people. Among them are priests, sheperds, farmers, fisherman and kings. Ofcourse there are inconsistensies! However, almost all of these can be solved by being aware of few main points: translationproblems, contrasts made on purpose, differency in registration, Eastern language, etc,etc. To know more read Drs. Ben Hobrink's book!
