  • Fludas is playing with everyone everywhere these days. On recordings, Monty's hardest swinging date was with Eugene Wright and Bobby Durham on the Van Heusen tune, "It Could Never Happen to You." Live, I never heard him swing more than with a trio pre-dating Clayton and Hamilton. It had Duffy Jackson on drums and a bass player whose name I don't remember. It showed me that it doesn't take a high profile rhythm section to swing; teamwork counts for everything.

  • @the dakota in mpls?

  • He did more than one album where he played jazz version of Bob Marley's music.... but there is one particular album I heard that blows my mind but I don't know what it was called.

  • Does anyone have his album Jamento? If so could some please upload the track Weekend in LA?

  • He's one sick bastard. I have most of his pre-tape/cd era recordings on record that my dad used to play all the time when I was a kid. It's all on his i-pod that I loaded up for him. He would have no idea how to do it being 74 yrs old.

  • to all who ask "who is this man?". Monty Alexander is arguably the most talented musician to ever come out of Jamaica. He's a fantastic pianist and is often overlooked when people think of masterful jazz pianists.

  • This guy dated a friend of mine, wasn't too nice at one point to others too.

He's a black wanna be man.

Still can push em out./ for a polynesion.

  • I saw him last night at Ronnie Scott's in London! OMG, it was guuuuuuuuuud. My favorite jazz pianist on the planet.
