@halford3256 I stood next to him this past NYE we exchanged high fives and somes words as we watched Y&T play. Overall great dude. His wife was very nice as well. I really hate when people form an opinion on 1 moment. I remember hearing all kinds of bad things about Dave Meniketti of Y&T. When I met him all those opinions were shot down. Both were very down to earth great dudes.
@fordwheeler ...My opinion is based on his history...His History of failing to deliver on stage. He continues to rip people off by making excuses for his lack of passion and letting his voice deteriorate .. Thats no Pro..hes riding his coattails from the 80's skating by on is name. I met him many times..nice guy..but STOP ripping people off by playing tunes you can longer handle..Re invent yourself like Tate/ Halford/ and a handfull of otheres have done.
@fordwheeler I still stand to disagree. He does a fantastic job for his voice problems. You do know he has had some sinus issues as well as vocal strain. He just underwent vocal surgery. Even though us fans helped him out NYE he still did a fantastic job.I will pay to see Don anytime and I have. When he opens for Y&T its just him and an acoustic guitar and its fun to watch and see.
Great interview! ThanX . It's too bad George and Don couldn't work things out way back then as far as the band is concerned. They are both great in their talent's/contributions in the band, but without Don's unique vocals it wouldn't have been the same for me. Hence, the band was fine being labeled "Dokken" from my point of view.
Out of all the bands that came out of the LA scene in the 80's, Dokken blew doors over every band. Motley Crue, Poison, Ratt...they may have been bigger in fame but Dokken rocked the hardest. They had the best tunes overall by far. And Don was a real singer who had heart and soul in his voice.
Dokken is still one of my all time favorites but Don is a pretty sad character... when he talks about jets and playing to 100k people in stadiums, he's completely delusional.
I luved him...hes a dirt bag now...last time he flew was when he fell on stage...

At least he was sober for the interview. Not like at his show the nite we saw him. But he still sounded great.

Tooth and Nail, Under Lock and Key and Back For The Attack DID all go Platinum.
The 100k arenas he's talking about was the Monsters of Rock Tour with Van Halen, Scorpions, Kingdom Come.
