Soul Calibur 5 is a great game. I understand the timeline thing but really Xiba, Natsu, Leixia and Pyrrha are just Kilik, Taki, Xianghua and Sophitia with new skins. Why not just stay with the originals if they were just going to rehash move sets. I know that they may have slight differences that make them their "own/new" character but those differences seem quite minimal. Oh well guess I am going to have to design my own game lol!

The same goes for Nightmare due to him have died in IV,the soul had reclaimed a new body(thus why he looks kinda like the 2nd one). I honestly don't see the major problem with this game. Certain characters no longer play a role in the series because 17 years have passed, and some have been killed/retired at this point? Plausible to me. Only one story mode? Good: the "Story mode" of the past was spread out, at best. In IV, we only got a paragraph about the character and 1 poorly lip-synched CGI cutscene. This one promises at least an singular story with more effort put into it than Gauntlet-style stories.

No Cassandra, no Setsuka, no Zasalamel, no Taki, no Yun-seong, no Talim, no Rock, no Sophitia, no individual storymode for each character, majority of new characters are obnoxious and cocky, Elysium, Kilik and Edgemaster are all random style characters...seriously I feel riped off buying this game. :( The only improvement is the create a character. It feels like a down grade. Wtf namco. :(

@Crazy4Tekken Completely agree. They're not as developed character wise than the previous Soul Calibur characters. I would be fine if it wasn't for the fact that the story mode was very disappointing, short, and... well, predictable.

And yes, pretty much all the new characters have the same personality, just some are a bit darker. Viola I'm fine with, but Pyrrha is just... pathetic.

Sigfried does nothing anymore and the rest of the new characters are forgettable.

To be honest we can't judge what happend to kilik, or what happened to all the other characters who have been cut, before the game has even come out. Hopefully the story will be explained more than in sc4. And we can't judge characters we've only seen for about 10 seconds in a bideo of gameplay, just saying.

@SeraphNofel Yes both games are made by Namco..Yoshimitsu was later carried over into Namco's Soul series of fighting games as a secret character, making his debut in Soulcalibur and returning for Soulcalibur II, Soulcalibur III and Soulcalibur IV.
