For some reason...This song makes me think of Charlie Sheen smoking weed and having two chicks with him in the back room listening to Pink Floyd. And then somebody telling him its time to report to the stage for Two & a half Men. :)
Good song, allthough I wonder if it would have been better if this song was left off the album rather than "What Shall We Do Now"? I think the latter is by far the superior of the two. But maybe they felt that "The Show Must Go On" was a better fit.
@sclossick that would be the only living boy in new york, by simon and garfunkle and yes, it does sound almost identicle for those 2 notes haha i was thinking the same thing having just listened to that song about 20 minutes ago.

@Dojack i wouldnt say insanity, i lived it man (with different bricks), its more like a bad choice and making yourself ironically think your crazy
and of course its not about a military! its the whole opposite; not believing how the world is run and the whole harrasment all around, and repressing yourself cause of all this
@Voyager1asr Yes I know. I replied to someone's comment long ago about how dark side and The Wall are two of the greatest albums ever, and I talked about how I was trying to write a script for dark side of the moon.
its not very possible to be a parody of queen because this was recorded in 79 man queen recorded theirs in 1990 and I think they were just referencing pink floyd not poking fun. im not arguin with ya im just sayin it wouldnt be possible.
it is so hard...how do you pick the best...the Great Gig in the Sky ? or The Show must go on.... One Starts my day and the other end my day. and Pink Floyd fills my day
I was thinking today. I know you are saying, finnaly! But think of this, its a wonderful VETERNS DAY, and if their was the most logical day to thank the FALLEN, it would be a Gracious day, for Gilmore to play his one song, wouldn't it !
@SunflowerEmmeline I fell on this reply quite by accident ^^ but I'm sorry if I took 6 months to answer ;-; They never took my soul away and never will... I love you :3 and we'll rejoin... one day that's getting closer and closer ♥
@Metalitron12 YES!!! Definitely. There are alot of recurring musical themes in the wall. Like, if you listen the melody that Waters sings in "Another Brick in the Wall", you can hear it played by the guitar behind the solo of "Hey You", in the second half of "Waiting for the Worms", in Empty Spaces with a different rhthymn, and probably in a bunch of other places.. I think that's why this album is so great: because the music has alll these intertwining themes and ideas.
It was myself, george mcchesny, rob mills and my brother john hill. Timeless music!!!! I used to trip my nuts off back in the day listening to floyd.... GOD BLESS THE WALL!!! trippin in the late 80's and early 90's. this album helped the ride.
Speaking of dark side. It's my dream to make it into a motion picture. I'm writing a script. SO far, many pink floyd fans are suprised how well it turned out. I put a copy up on the internet (That got taken down because of my crappy internet connection.) and roger waters commented on it. He said that he really liked it so far and hopes to see me finish it. any idea's for a dark side film.
i found trouble analyzing the metaphorical meaning of the dark side because it wasnt as focused on a subject as the wall was. however i would definitely involve childhood and a drug induced death with a lifetime flashback during eclipes; maybe the overdose during brain damage? either way, great idea and good luck!
@toxicfloyd It was Dark Side of The Wlll at the Division Bell@ Blogspot.com. @themetalman3@themetalman3 I definitely wanna see a good movie on Dark Side of the Moon... Watching "The Wall" made me crazy for a week... Can't wait to see what Dark side of the Moon movie (a good one) would do to me :)
@ShiiruReborn not really. school is cracking down on me like a bitch. however, I am trying my hardest to write it in my spare time. But I'm also stuck with helping out my cousin with his band. I'm a drummer, btw.

@BURNTH1SC1TY the irony to that is the album itslef "the wall" was certainly not underrated (or so with the generation that actually had musical taste unlike todays generation) that said, this album is timeless and can never be overrated enough, it deserves everybody's attention, cuz it signifies the essence of what music is all about and what it should be...something todays youth are oblivious of...sadly.
@codern I'm 17, I am taken totally aback by the lack of musical taste in talent in modern artists and in my generation, and I'd just like to say that we shouldn't give up hope quite yet, there are a few of us left who can still try to change the world.
@StricknSTW im 29, so im over a decade ahead with a perspective of what has happened to music And the entertainment industry post nirvana..aka the down fall of the 90s which had shit like beiber brewing until he had just landed last year... i hope ur right&its certainly possible..albeit, while i see talented musicians around ur age, i just never c the magic from kids 2day,cuz of many reasons which i can explain if u want. Hopefully ul b the rare exception2these times of artistic indifference.
@codern I know how you feel, really I think after the '80's there have been few if any good musicians and bands, I really hope though that you're wrong about the magic being lost, because we definitely need a musical messiah.
@StricknSTW im a musician, im very influenced by our "real" musical parents, not the rebellious and lame siblings we call musicians today...we live in a digital era, we live under the vision of the manipulative entertainment industry which really dictates the musical rubbish we're subjected to. Music 2day is not actually music, rather its a new form of entertainment solely catered to the youth. Its more a social event disguised as music. Kids 2day will defend it to its death but it still
@StricknSTW holds no merit, cuz its so transparent how tasteless it remains. There r good artists out there but technology plays a huge part in drowning them out with crap. Im about2begin an album in the privacy of my own room & im gna try2make some magic4people like you who still know what magic is in music. The good thing about todays technology is it helps some artists create quality music just as the only good thing about crap music 2day is it makes up appreciate the real music of yesterday.
@codern that is true, it is in part of todays terrible scene that we see the greatness of bands like Pink Floyd still undiminished, I wish you luck on your album, we need the magic back. I myself have made a few attempts with my band, but I'm the only one really dedicated to the idea.
@StricknSTW well then here's my advise to you...if the band your in isnt a complete lost cause, then use them to get out as much experience as you can...and who knows where itl take you or who ul meet, but at the same time, dont reply on anything but gaining experience, and i suggest you build a home studio, these days its very possible to do, it will lack the authenticity of analog results we heard form the wall, but itl suffice , &u got plenty of time to make the magic even if its by urself.
@StricknSTW awesome..you should, its fascinating in itself, and i loved geting so many neat goodies, its a good idea for any creative musician, i can help u along the way if u need any tips or advice.
@codern My only totally serious question is about sound mixers and soundproofing, should I go through the cost of soundproofing the home studio, especially if it is going to be in my room, and should I buy an expensive multi-input mixer, or will the expensive audio mixing programs I have on my computer work just as fine?
@StricknSTW at ur stage, and with with todays technology, i would NOT worry about soundproofing, unless u wana bang ur head against the wll and spend endless dollars. To do it properly, we're talking thousands. Dont give it a 2nd thought. 1st. off, what i do is i work everything by line signal, which excludes anything acoustic (such as vocals, and any acoustics which need a quiet room.) i use drum samples cuz its alot easier and ironically "practical". I dont have room for a drummer , or the
@StricknSTW money to hire a drummer, these days, it is very possible to do drums urself on computer, or synth (even drum machines) it also builds ur understanding for drums. It takes a while but its worth it. Now line just means "not mic" , in other words, you can plug your synth into a preamp of ur multi track recorder and thus eliminating nearly 100% of all outside sound. So while soundproofing would be ideal in a pro studio, for a home studio, its not necessary. U can use egg cartons or
@StricknSTW sheets aong the walls anytime you need to do anything acoustic eg vocals or acoustic guitar, so itl lessen the room noise. But as long as you do hear any noise in ur room, ur mics wont either, although they will pick everything up if u have descent mics..but in context itl be fine as a demo , and sometimes even as an album recording. Now, in so far your interface, i personally prefer to use the "dying" multitrack recorder, u can still get them new and used in good condition from
@StricknSTW 8 tracks to 24 (even 32) i like the zoom hd16cd, it to me is the easiest and user friendliest..but they do get better. To me, it is just easier than working on a computer, but on a computer you will get use of many more options, but i like to be limited and simplify tihngs. There are pros and cons to any interface of ur choice, do research on computer recording and/or mulittrack recording and decide. You can use your multiracker and computers together..anyways, hopes this helps.

@codern that's a very good idea, i never thought about making a home studio before, it's something I will have to look into.

@codern My only totally serious question is about sound mixers and soundproofing, should I go through the cost of soundproofing the home studio, especially if it is going to be in my room, and should I buy an expensive multi-input mixer, or will the expensive audio mixing programs I have on my computer work just as fine?
StricknSTW 1 year ago

@codern It really does, I'll look at the hd16cd asap.
