From 1997-2002 the Busa didn't have a speed limiter. It wasn't until 2003 that the government decided to put limiters on bikes. I have personally raced a Z06, and it was no competition. I smoked him on my 2002 Busa!

@TheBarrett1971 well really because of federal law in the US bikes cant go over 186 mph but remove the speed limiter and the busa with around 180 lb rider will do around 220 tops. Put an exhaust and commander and who knows.

@TheBarrett1971 the first bikes that came out were only 160 horse even modified they were no where near 200 with out a turbo. the 2008s came out with 198 modified they push 215 to the tires. I watched the testing and where doin upper 210 215s at the texas mile Non turbo 2008 busa's. I was also referring to the 08 and up busa on the earlier post.

Pretty funny! I've got a 2002 Busa with ALOT of "goodies" and I've smoked more Corvettes, Cobras and Vipers with my stock 2007 M109R than you can imagine! Hell, I even toasted some kids (college age) in a Murcielago Roadster last year. With maybe five exceptions there just isn't a car around that can tear up a fast bike.

Fastest street tire bikes - 7.0s at 190+mph, street tire cars - I believe are now in the high 6s at around the same speeds. Bike cost - approx. $60k (brand new), Car cost - typically $60k for a rolling chassis.
Absolute performance - cars barely win, efficiency of dollar spent - bikes win. Big balls - both to go that fast.

I read a great article in a bike magazine that paired up a best sport bike with the best sports car of the day. In a nutshell, the car carried more speed in the corners. The bike was a lot faster on the straights. The lap times were very close. Bikes have improved a great deal since that article was written (10 years or so), but so have cars. It might be a similar outcome.
Sport bikes are faster than cars.. Period! Anyone beat by a car aether rides a Harley or can't ride. Any add on you can do to a car, yo can do to a bike for cheaper. Bussa's can do mid 9's stock. Yes, I own a bike and speak from experience

I've driven a 10 second Honda EK w/ old school LS VTEC turbo, but I'd rather ride my CBR 600 RR than any car... bikes are 1000000x more fun than any car out there... especially in canyons... maybe a full drift car like the Tanner Foust's V8 Scion TC would be a lot of fun though!

@makado19 - It really comes down to the driver/rider. I've smoked so many modded cars on my stock bike it's just sad. From ricers to high dollar muscle. That being said, I've been beaten by heavily modded cars with good drivers behind the wheel too. As someone once told me, "it's not the arrow, it's the indian."
@makado19 gets to the point where the bike can't put the power down. So in that respect that's when cars take over in out accelerating bikes 0-whatever. To obtain that kinda power in a car though is going to cost a crap load of money, once a car gets to that stage a fair match would be against a GP bike.

@greatachilles It really doesn't take "a few hundred thousand $ or more" to beat a bike....I bought my car for $1,000 cash (it's a '73 Plymouth) and I recently purchased a big block 406 cubic inch v8 (6.6 L)on craigslist (with a new set of kb pistons, new rods, a bell housing that bolts up and a set of used stock heads) for under 500 dollars from some guy in texas. I can see this car running fairly close behind bikes with maybe $10k more into it, mostly for the engine/suspension. :)

I raced a bunch of fast cars back in the day including vettes and camero ss etc. Wasn't even fun because it was never even close. I know these bikes now are a lot faster than my Hurricane was.
@thechucker44 Vettes and camaros of the 80's weren't really that quick, if you beat, say, a 454 cubic inch vette from the 70's for example, that's impressive. I don't really like GM that much but their old novas and chevelles and camaros are pretty badass, and the stingray vettes too, especially with a 400 or 454.

Look up the ZR1's power lap time and you'll see it did indeed own the R8. This is why I rarely race cars on the street. Its not worth the gas or the risk because cagers are idiots (as you can see by some comments here) Not to mention their cars are already sooooo slow, most are between just 500-700whp. Rarely do we get an over 1000whp supra or skyline but those are easily beat as well.
As for stock cars ,theres no stock car in the world that can even think about racing a turbo busa, top end or whatever so theres no point.

@MrStonegolem I remember reading on 6speedonline, where many mega power (~900whp) porsche 911 owners are members, that a mega porsche with over 60-80k of motor work will hang with a stock hayabusa. But a turbo hayabusa with over 220whp will make that porsche look silly.
There was a local turbo 1000rr with 240whp (cyclelogic motorsports) and that guy used to do 200mph to work. That bike made a local twin turbo ford gt, thats known locally as veyron killer, look like a vw bug.

The gsx hayabusa is one of the fastest production motorcycles, the ZO6 isn't matched with the hayabusa. It's just obvious what would win. Now say a ZR1 or Lingenfelter 'vette, then there's a nearly fair match. IDK what the big argument is about cars, and bikes.

God I hate these comparisions, bunch of cagers talking a bunch of shit about cars, and a bunch of crotch rocketeers talking a bunch shit about bikes. Here's simple facts:
Fastest street tire bikes - 7.0s at 190+mph, street tire cars - I believe are now in the high 6s at around the same speeds. Bike cost - approx. $60k (brand new), Car cost - typically $60k for a rolling chassis.
Absolute performance - cars barely win, efficiency of dollar spent - bikes win. Big balls - both to go that fast.

I read a great article in a bike magazine that paired up a best sport bike with the best sports car of the day. In a nutshell, the car carried more speed in the corners. The bike was a lot faster on the straights. The lap times were very close. Bikes have improved a great deal since that article was written (10 years or so), but so have cars. It might be a similar outcome.

I've driven a 10 second Honda EK w/ old school LS VTEC turbo, but I'd rather ride my CBR 600 RR than any car... bikes are 1000000x more fun than any car out there... especially in canyons... maybe a full drift car like the Tanner Foust's V8 Scion TC would be a lot of fun though!

@InspiredBloodMage The Ariel Atom V8 is not modded and would beat a Veyron up to around 160mph, so in both a drag strip 1/4 mile and on track (Ariel Atom power to weight ratio of 2.7 as opposed to a Veyron's 3.5 in Super sport guise) the Veyron and Hyabussa.

Lets all be honest. We all love speed and if you've got enough $£ 's you can soop a car that WILL beat a bike. That's a given. Look at F1. Spend 1/5th of that dosh on a bike and you have a serious serious speed machine. The one thing I'm sure we can all accept is that it takes a lot more skill and balls to ride a bike on the limit. The moral is still the same: for the same amount of money, I will make a bike that is MUCH faster than the car you will make for that money.
Example: Bugatti Veyron: 2 million, top speed - ~269 mph, standing mile ~252 mph (??? not sure there)
Turbo Busa: 90,000, top speed- God knows ;).Standing mile- at 278 mph.
With bike you basically sacrifice comfort for speed, but if you want pure speed, you got to grow balls and get on a bike.

To obtain that kinda power in a car though is going to cost a crap load of money, once a car gets to that stage a fair match would be against a GP bike.

@greatachilles It really doesn't take "a few hundred thousand $ or more" to beat a bike....I bought my car for $1,000 cash (it's a '73 Plymouth) and I recently purchased a big block 406 cubic inch v8 (6.6 L)on craigslist (with a new set of kb pistons, new rods, a bell housing that bolts up and a set of used stock heads) for under 500 dollars from some guy in texas. I can see this car running fairly close behind bikes with maybe $10k more into it, mostly for the engine/suspension. :)

I raced a bunch of fast cars back in the day including vettes and camero ss etc. Wasn't even fun because it was never even close. I know these bikes now are a lot faster than my Hurricane was.

@thechucker44 Vettes and camaros of the 80's weren't really that quick, if you beat, say, a 454 cubic inch vette from the 70's for example, that's impressive. I don't really like GM that much but their old novas and chevelles and camaros are pretty badass, and the stingray vettes too, especially with a 400 or 454.

fastest car, (i like to call veyron fastest) 8 liter, quad turbo, 1000 hp, quattro, automatic, 2 tonne vehicle, with 16 radiators.. something that can empty full fuel tank in 12 minutes and destroy new tyres in 15..

@greatachilles My brother has about ~550 horse in his supra and he can beat any 600 (unmodded) easily, but if they started at 0 and not a roll-on it would be closer. Trick to beating bikes is in the top-speeds, and fyi, he spent about 30k on this car, not 'hundreds of thousands.'

Look up the ZR1's power lap time and you'll see it did indeed own the R8. This is why I rarely race cars on the street. Its not worth the gas or the risk because cagers are idiots (as you can see by some comments here) Not to mention their cars are already sooooo slow, most are between just 500-700whp. Rarely do we get an over 1000whp supra or skyline but those are easily beat as well.
As for stock cars ,theres no stock car in the world that can even think about racing a turbo busa, top end or whatever so theres no point.

@MrStonegolem I remember reading on 6speedonline, where many mega power (~900whp) porsche 911 owners are members, that a mega porsche with over 60-80k of motor work will hang with a stock hayabusa. But a turbo hayabusa with over 220whp will make that porsche look silly.
There was a local turbo 1000rr with 240whp (cyclelogic motorsports) and that guy used to do 200mph to work. That bike made a local twin turbo ford gt, thats known locally as veyron killer, look like a vw bug.
