  • @levensregt: thank you for uploading this part of a rare early Vollenweider TV recording broadcasted by the Dutch broadcasting company AVRO somewhere in the early eighties. A beautiful demonstration of how he revolutionized the harp and enhanced it with a custom developed pickup system, in order to transform the harp from an acoustic instrument to a more versatile amplified and stage proof instrument, with which a bigger audience could be reached. And indeed that's what he did, gaining worldwi

  • This is just a perfect example of how special harp music can be. I have always been intrigued by harp music. But when I started listening to Andreas my intrigue soared to new heights. It never occured to me that you could jazz up a harp that way until I bought the "White Winds" ablum one night.

  • Wow! They are all like kids there! I'm guessing this is between 1981-84, but not beyond that. this was in the days when he would ONLY wear ALL white for a concert, haha!! He looked very angelic.

  • Soy fan No. 1 de Andreas!

  • Andreas and friends ROCK! I like the drummer at the end of the video! He is in "Elevator-music heaven"! Check him out!

  • They have called his music, jazz, new age, world music, I just call it great fun, and very inventive!

  • "SWITZERLAND" like a ROLEX !

  • itˇs really great, I used to think that it´s the piano but not the harp

  • First concert I saw was in Barcelona, 1987, after its album Down to the Moon. Simply perfect. What an incredible musician!

  • I have many Andreas Vollenweider's album but never brought his DVD. It's great to see his MV here and it's first time to hear this piece of work. BTW, I'd like to know when was this performance? He looks young in this video!

  • late 1970s or early 1980s

  • What is the title of this piece? Was it released on any Vollenweider album?

  • I first heard this guy in the military of all places and was hooked from then on. My favorite album is Book of Roses, specifically, "Mantos and the Arrow". Beautiful piece for work. I would love to see Mr Vollenweider before he leaves. The man is a genius.

  • I first seen Andreas Vollenweider back in 1995 in my hometown of Columbus ohio. He puts on a great show

  • Great :-)

I wonder: is this a Paraguaian electric harp - he plays with nail as they do it?!?

  • heavenly...

  • The first time I heard about AV was while working in Cancun (Dancing with the Lion) around 1989. Imagine the view I had while listening to his music. I love his music ever since. Thank you for sharing this great video!!!

    Good stuff!

  • great music, happy to find this here, I' ve always loved his music! Thanks!

  • Tell me about it, ze hebben mij ook al 3 x verwijderd. Met mn Mike Oldfield, en CAMEL vids en vele andere coole vids die zwaar werden gewaardeerd door heel veel mensen. Jammer, die commerciele wereld :'(

  • It's like all string intruments. The body at the bottom he is leaning works like an amplifier.

    De klankkast dus ;D

  • I can't get enough of this video and this music

  • Sublime :)

  • I saw his concert during 1984 or '85 at University of Pennsylvania. It was really great! Bring back the good memories.

  • Did you get this on his DVD 'The Magical Journeys' ?

Thanks for uploading this. Looks like little number of people appriciate his music

  • I LOVE his music...got turned on to him while living in Europe, saw him play at the Kennedy Center in DC many years later...LOVE him...

  • Oh, I love you for uploading this. It was submitted before, but suddenly disappeared. The har master is Andreas Vollenweider himself. Born 4th of October 1953 in Zürich, Switzerland. I can't help you with the more technical questions though. Ty again.
