  • What an asshole. Jeez. With raquetball, you hit the ball much harder than juggling props hit the floor.

  • @IRNjuggle28 I hope you mean the manager's an asshole not steve.

  • No, Fuck That!! Stealing your promised right to juggle is still wrong even if you don't have documentation. You are morally entitled to go to that gym and help yourself to to whatever goods you can grab until the value of your remaining dues is refunded. Self-Serve Refund.

  • It isn´t cool, but it isn´t cool either that you used my youtube account name as title! =D

  • @JugglingIsNotACrime ...but this video was posted 5 months before you even created your youtube account :P *laughs*

Juggling is not a crime, but it's still an unusual activity that people in charge of things don't always approve of for some weird screwy reason... 'tis a mega-bummer, but unfortunately, all jugglers have to deal with it sometimes.

  • Manager in this video = dick

  • What a dick ! And you have to pay for two years cause you were lied to ?

  • What a jerk..

  • dude people just dont understand... its a shame

  • So are you still going to practice there for the next couple months leading up to wjf6?

  • @gabrielfamilathe possibly... I still practice there sometimes, but I have to be careful.. I'm trying to find out which managers are cool and only go on the days that they're working... I might end up getting totally screwed though...

  • that sucks man.. I wonder what Jason Garfield would do to that manager if he got in that situation when he's in a bad mood. You handled it pritty well I think

  • Straight up: Fuck them and that asshole. You should be able to sue them if you feel you were lied to just to get a signature.

  • It just goes to show you how completely ignorant people can be, I doubt he's even the manager. I guess, it takes zero creativity and a total lack of ability to think for ones self (talking about the "manager" not you.) Keep fighting the ignorance.... We used to run into this all the time, we would call in, reserve a court and then juggle, they would try and kick us out, we simply refused. They eventually got the idea that we were staying.

  • The only thing I consider partially "funny" is that the manager didn't have a reason to throw you out. It seemed like he just wanted to throw you out because he wanted to. It's not funny that he threw you out at all, it's bad service. I'm going to email them because I don't see why people have to do things like this. It's COMPLETELY unfair and shows a lack of respect for customers at that gym. I'm so sorry this happened Steve, I'm going to let that gym know what I think they did is wrong.

  • What?!?! This is just ridiculous!! That manager is a complete bastard. Argh. I'm so angry for you.

  • what an unhappy guy, thats all i gotta say, I hope you find another place to practice really soon

  • fuck me this is fucking awful, i feel so angry for you.

make as big as a fuss about this as possible and complain to fucking everyone, this is total bullshit.

  • I liked your attitude, you said everything thing you had to say.

    Now, sue them!

  • Hate to say it, but if you didn't get it in writing then you have absolutely no legal leg to stand on. None what so ever. Get it in writing or it never happened.

  • @eagarm This is true. However, I've done some research now about all the rules of this gym, and I've talked to several other managers about it. They do not have anything in writing saying that their courts are only for racquetball. I was denied use of the facilities I am paying for when I had not broken any rules. They violated their own contract.

  • @thegoheads Still pretty shaky grounds. You're not going to win with "They never told me the racquetball courts were only for racquetball!"

  • @eagarm If they don't have it in writing, they can't enforce it as a rule. I have a contract stating I can use the courts, plain and simple. Nowhere in their rules or contracts does it state that these courts are only for racquetball. And yes, it is still "shaky grounds" ...our entire society is "shaky grounds"

    Thanks for the encouragement *sarcasm*

  • @thegoheads Look man, I'm just playing devil's advocate here. I just signed a 1 year contract for a gym literally 4 days ago, and I hope to use their racquetball courts for juggling. I'm not counting on it though because they're *raquetball* courts and they weren't going to rewrite their contract for me.

Nowhere in my contract does it explicitly say that I can't skateboard on the treadmills or jet-ski in the pool, but I'm not going to get away with "you never said I COULDN'T do it!"

  • @eagarm haha, that's a very good point. I never thought of it like that. Luckily, juggling isn't as dangerous as skateboarding on a treadmill or jetski-ing in the pool. I guess I'm counting on the fact that juggling in a racquetball court is a reasonable and harmless activity. You really should try to use the courts at your gym, because they are the best for juggling! Hopefully nobody will make you stop.

  • @thegoheads i know fuck all about law, and it's probably the case that legally, you might not win, however, i still know it's total bullshit that you're not allowed to use the courts. i think even if they are right legally, you have loads of room to argue to toss with them about it just being fucking stupid and shit.

  • Also, fun side note. I was once kicked out of a mall parking lot for juggling and unicycling at the same time. The guard came over and said I could juggle or unicycle, but not do both at the same time. Then when I just ignored him because he had no idea what he was talking about. I was kicked out.

  • @LauraErnst He kicked you out for juggling and unicycling simultaneously!?!? What's wrong with doing that?!?! That guy had some serious problems!

  • I had something very similar happen to me. I was at a gym with a trial membership and I juggled there just about every day. I asked several people, several times to make sure it was ok. Then, just as I was going to sign a contract, I was talking with the manager and he said I couldn't juggle there and anyone that had told me that it was ok had lied to me. But I'm glad this happened before I signed a contract.

Some people just don't have enough to do with their time so they micromanage.

  • @LauraErnst Salesmen will tell you just about anything to make you sign a contract. When I signed my contract the salesmen told me that they have had lots of jugglers practice there in the past, and it would be totally OK. That's one of the main things that influenced me to sign the contract; thinking that they have let many other jugglers practice there before... and that was most likely a lie.

  • that certainly is bull shit, I feel sorry for you

  • About you being "a guy with nothing left to lose" and your life being a "failure", of course I don't know you and maybe i shouldn't say anything, but I think that's way overeacting. Everybody have ups and downs, being unemployed doesn't make you a "failure". You seem like a great human being to me.

Don't let that kind of shit get to you.

  • @LearnToJuggleNOW I am surely a "failure" by "normal" people's standards.. Society seems to be set up to destroy itself, and lots of people end up having nothing left to lose through no fault of their own.

However, I am very happy with myself, and that's all that really matters. Thanks for your comment.

  • That sucks. If you are patient, polite and persuasive, like you were during the first part of the video and after it, I think you will win and might even get some small refund or something.

  • You should defend yourself by write a letter to the company, but also try juggling at the YMCA. The YMCA by me allows juggling. Also, I have found opportunities to teach juggling.

  • I've read all these comments and I agree with everyone. You get a raw deal. Go back, at least, to the branch that doesn't give you a hard time.

  • Thought you have a deal like "You can juggle in our courts, if you post a video on youtube with our logo in the background once in a while." with LVCA! They seem to spend some money on marketing (just look at their website). But they let go a good chance to show everbody how cool they are.

btw: Raquetballplayers use ONE ball for two players. You seem to be far more effectively using the space you rented.

and: Under German law they won't have any means to make you leave. Any US lawyers around?

  • lol, oh that manager O:-) next time, just act like you don't speak anything but ancient Greek, and have no idea what he is saying, insisting "I stay, I stay" over and over until he leaves you alone : ) Worked for Consuela

  • this is complete BS. I am pissed for you as well! Especially took 2 years to tell you that? Youve been there for 2 years now, and they obviously havent seen any damage done to the floors, im sure they would have said something a lot earlier. Same thing happened to us Santa Clara jugglers at a rock crawling gym. They banned us from going there due to " causing damage to the floor." We arent juggling bowling balls, or fire, or anything that causes damage! who the hell do they think they are?

  • I am sorry this happened.... So stupid that people respect the sport of juggling... I mean like you were talking about in the description, you only went at night so people didn't have to wait for you... ( even tho you had every rite to be there in the day ) and you payed the same amount of money that the other people are paying.... stupid stupid stupid...

  • steve WAS NOT criticizing the fact that the manager could not speak english well. he merely said that because of this, he may have mistaken it for rudeness when it was not intended as such. anyone commenting that the guy "needs to learn english" should go learn one of the thousands of native american languages, particularly the one specific to the area they live in!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Maybe this is not a problem with the gym as a whole, but most likely a misunderstanding of the "manager." As he did not seem to clearly speak english, it might be that he doesn't understand english well either.

He might have not understood the contract part and assumed that nothing else besides racquetball was to be done there. Contact other people in the gym and get things straight, I think this is the best to do...

This is one of the most annoying things that can happen to jugglers.

  • You might actually have a legal case here, especially if you have it written somewhere on the contract that you intended to juggle there. You could go to a small claims court and get the money you spent on the membership back if things go well.

  • @Reeses2150 doubtful... big companies always have all their T's crossed and I's dotted. I am a nobody. They have lots of money and lawyers. I can't even imagine how much money it would cost me to try to sue them... oh well.

  • @thegoheads You don't have to sue them, you just have to find the right person to yell at. If it's a big corporation, the dude that kicked you out is certainly pretty close to the bottom. If you are inclined to press the issue, you could probably get some satisfaction if you call corporate HQ, and just start moving up the totem pole.

  • dude :S im sorry to see this happen i understand must people thinks its a joke. btw do you have anything like msn ?

  • @juggledave no, I don't have msn or aim or facebook or anything else... only youtube. I try to keep it simple :) hehe

  • That's ridiculous! What's wrong with juggling there when they have three other courts open?? I think they need a new manager.

  • Dude. Im pissed too. It takes nothing for me to blow my top. I almost want people to rub me the wrong way so i can let em have it... With only months left.. .. you have the right idea to simply leave.

  • I have a lot of friends across the US(myself included) who have had nothing but support from the good folks down at the YMCA. They're usually very encouraging when it comes to people juggling in their racquetball courts plus, they're cheaper than any gym I've looked at. Hell, if you volunteer to teach a 1-3 hour juggling class, one day a week, they'll comp your membership so, it's free!

I agree, though. It's not funny at all. I can't tell you how upset I would've been if it had happened to me.

  • @RicotheJuggler The YMCA was my first choice when I searched for a racquetball court back in 2008. I called them several times to ask if I could juggle there, and they kept saying they weren't sure and referring me to other people who also weren't sure... haha... obviously this is a problem with the people working at THAT ymca and not ALL ymca... Maybe I will try them again soon.

  • That was the fucking best argument I've ever heard, you handled yourself amazingly and should be very proud of that. I understand completely where you are coming from and could not agree with you more. Kinda reminds me how I was yelled at in Greece last week for filming juggling at the Parthenon...they also could give me no real reason it was prohibited. Basically, FUCK that manager...GO Steve!...the end. Hope everything works out for you :-)

  • i'm sorry steve, it's infuriating to me when i get kicked out of an area when i'm street performing, i can't imagine how frustrated you must be after actually signing a contract to be there. but don't ruin your credit score. talk to the manager on top, and if you bitch loud enough, you might even get something out of it...like some months free.

  • wow that manager is a real ass

  • I have had simular problems juggling in raquet ball courts at UC Davis. I had been going there for 4 years when one day they said that they have allocated 1 of the 8 courts for non-raquet ball use. they don't enforce it that much though so i havnt had too many problems. i told them i was a very advanced raquet ball player and i understand the problem, but if there is no one using the courts then there should not be any problems. If you PAYED to be there there is no reason they should be a dick!

  • Steve,

Gyms often employ less than ideally paid and trained people. Most likely, the guy saw you juggling clubs and thought it might hurt the floor, so he made you stop. I would be surprised if they actually have a rule against juggling (and I would be very much surprised if they have a rule and the salesperson *knew* about it). I too think that most likely when you contact someone at customer service (pain as it is), or at least if you show them how light clubs are, they'll agree.

  • Good luck

  • Steve don't let this get you down and don't let it ruin your credit score. Go back to your original gym and tell them about the problem that you had and I'm sure they will just tell you to get F-ed. By the way what ever happened to the cat. Even if you didn't keep it you should at least name it. I would have called him Bob.

  • Dude just watching that has pissed me off. You should have just stayed as long as you could before the cops got there and threw your clubs against the floor. you should go back and just sit there and keep throwing them till he comes back and see what happens.

  • Dude, this is ridiculous. I think you should take it to court. He openly admitted that the company lied to you and it's on video. If they question why you were filming, it's obviously because you were making a juggling video, which is completely innocent. You could probably get that guy fired.

And good luck with reaching the top manager.

  • wow, that is the stupidest thing i have ever seen. first of all, that retarted manager should know what a contract is and that it means no backing out, he can't do that. and second, if i were you i would of kept juggling and thrown a club at his face. im sorry steve, hope you find a place with managers that actually live up to their contracts. good luck.

  • that sucks. nasty

  • Just tell me which location it is Steve I will go over and make sure that manager has a "bad day"

  • that manager is a dickhead. I think you should go there and have a talk with the toptoptop manager. Stop phoning, they won't answer. just go and be very "aggressive". Or find the people who told you you could juggle there. I feel sorry guy, I'm hoping everything'll be right.

  • Damn Steve I'm really sorry to here this! This isn't funny at all, that manager is an asshole.

  • This is unbelievable Steve! The most unbelievable part is when you ask: So I was lied to? and the guy says: Yeah. ... wow ... I mean, what an idiot! I'm disgusted by his behaviour. And it's not funny at all... can't understand why some people think so.

I sure wish you good luck in everything you do.

    A.

  • As a fellow juggler I must say that this angers me to no end. I have sent them an eMail about it. Keep on keepin on man!

  • You are my favorite juggler for that reason. You want to juggle and not have your problem. I have had this happen to me, but they just asked me to move to the gym. Good luck in your fight to let juggling survive.

  • that sucks! Last year I was at a racquetball court and these swimmers were the only ones there I knocked and they let me in they left and locked the door. I found one that was unlocked. When I opened it the alarm to the whole entire building went off. that sucked.

  • that sucks!

  • Thats horrible. I agree with you 100%!

  • Cheer up Steve, that people are dumbasses! Everbody here knows that

  • with this video as a proof sew them in the court (is sew the right word? my english isn't the best..)

he literally said he lied to you!

    he is a stupid jackass

  • I do both, juggling and skateboarding and I know exactly how annoying these situations can be.. when u finally found a new spot and get kicked of even if u don`t damage anything!

but after signing a contract allowing you to juggle there (not even skateboarding, which I consider as even more despised) it's fucking mean to kick you out.

I hope you'll find a new place to juggle ;)

  • That's just bullshit. I hope you take it seriously up with them, this should not happen.

  • To anyone who thinks this is funny.

I rarely take anything seriously.. but I take juggling VERY seriously. Juggling is probably the ONLY thing that I take seriously. I do realize that I post a lot of "comedy" videos here... but this is not comedy. This is a serious issue. I was literally thrown out of the gym I have belonged to for years, simply because I was juggling. This is a very serious issue. Please do not make comments saying this is funny.

  • @thegoheads it is good to see you did stnad up to him, this has however kinda put me off trying to find a indoor juggling practice room, just have to keep a look out for a juggling club i guess? it'll be much better there :)

  • @unjongleur Check out your local YMCA. They're usually very supportive to jugglers. Plus, if you become a volunteer(maybe teaching a juggling class) you get your membership for free!

  • Wow, sorry to hear that. The situation is bull.

Hope you get things figured out. =/

  • Dude, that was friggin hilarious.

  • @ericsurf6 Sorry, Eric, but I disagree. This is not hilarious.

This is very serious, and I am very upset about it. I have been training a lot for WJF6, at the gym that I have been practicing at for almost 2 years now... and all of a sudden, I'm not allowed to do that anymore!? And I am treated with total disrespect, for juggling?! There is nothing funny about this..

  • argh that sucks! -.-

  • Shouldn't you first go to the top manager or something? Just ignoring their attempts to get money from you won't lead, as you said, to anything good.

  • @Metamorphmagus666 going to the top manager involves hours of automated phone message bullshit... I'm working on it... but it's very difficult to get an actual "human" representative on the phone these days.

  • sorry about that douchebag of a manager. I feel your pain.

  • That's wrong. Atleast hire a manager than can understand basic Enlish better than that, and why would anyone hire a manager as terrible at that one. I think if you try contacting costumer support you may be able to get some assistance.

    Best of luck.

  • That manager pissed me off!! You did the right thing Steve, I'm proud of you! I'm serious, I would've done the same thing, he's a duchbag.. *sigh* ppl these days..

  • wtf this is fucking bullshit and jugglerman7 its not funny at all he should of been able to juggle there wtf??? am very lucky were i practice, i only have to pay 5$ to go to a squash court as long as i want or when someone wants to use the court btw can u use other squash courts beside that location one?

  • hahahahhahaahah!

  • @jugglerman7 No. This is not funny. At all.

  • @thegoheads no, but the good thing is that you can come to norway and juggle here:D

  • dude... this is like skateboarding all over again!

    FUCK LAS VEGAS ATHLETIC CLUB!!!
