I wanna be a trucker when I grow up I love to travel and drive and see new places can any one give me some facts and pros and cons about tricking I would really want to know
I'm going to school for mechanics, and one of the companies (P.A.M.) that pays us to do the basic maintenance and repairs on their deadlined trade trucks uses this absolutely shit centrifugal clutch in an automated transmission. You put it in gear, and it won't go until you hit about 1000 rpms, at which point it jump and jerks and goes in and out as you go above and below that point. I just drive em' around the lot, but I couldn't imagine trying to do anything with a trailer with one.
@swishasweets06 I hear ya. I took one a month or so back up to Boston and it snowed on the way back. I was never uncomfortable or uneasy driving in anything until that day!
Where i work they are slowly replacing everything with automatics.

Beautiful Locator right there... it is so nice to see a european truck being beloved in the US. Volvo knows how to do big massive engines. Cheers from Spain.
You go truckers. You do HAVE to stick together. It is so important. Remember who fought for this country to begin with. We need to fight to get it back now. Truckers can do it. You are who can run this country.
We need a strike like they did back in the 70's. Sadly will not make a difference do the death of independent drivers. Hell i was we could go back to the Bush presidency as least when he was in office fuel was $1.81 on diesel, and in 3 years its more then doubled since Obama became president. Thanks for the hope and change. Hope you like the new changes YOU voted for!
@Darkmatter2134 um im in florida and diesel prices have been almost the same since 2006 with bush and gas prices dropped only right before bush left office after opec was being investigated
Being a trucker myself, there's many things that have to happen even before you step in that truck and fire it up. I understand that they may have not been important at the time of filming but people should be aware that we are required to do a pre-trip and post-trip. Could take as long or longer than 30 minutes each! I pull a tanker through BC Canada and the last thing I want to have happen is my brakes not working on a 7% grade hill in a snow storm or something else for that matter.
Driving in aus, for me 34 + years and its no life style, deadlines - under cutting prices for loads just to pay fuel bill to get home is crap , multi nationals paying shit monies being harrased just for doing your job by traffic cops is crap , and no respect for what you do and its a dangerous place to earn a living cos you dont know who is coming around the next bent , i would love to see all truckies unite and stop for two weeks and see how we are apreciated then , complaints i bet!!!!!!!
@whatthefarkdoiknow Unfortunately, I we were all on strike, the dicks who keep slashing the rates will decide to all go out trucking. As an industry, we don't stick together sadly.

earnings depend on the quality of the driver , we have drivers that earn 80-100 k, and some others 40--60 k, it is not only driving that makes a good driver , however for someone that has 3-5 years behind the weel should be no exuse not to earn 60k,(that is for the OTR drivers )unless that they are not willing to work, and belive me 9 out of 10 dont like to work.
BOBTAILING IS the most dangerous time driving a bigrig allways allow plenty of distance especially in traffic dont worrie about whats behind you cuz even a glance in the mirror could result in u not stopping and takin out some four wheeler cuz if the drivers lock youll acutully b gaining speed b4 slowing down effectiveness of the tracktor breaks are reduced signifintly without the trailer alot of people are not aware of this when they see a truck without the trailer
@1dogeez I get your point but any truck driver is smart enough to check his mirrors every now and again.. you have to know whats going on around you.. that includes behind you
I've always wanted to be a truck driver. I'm a loner by nature so I think that it would suit me and I love driving and exploring. I think the most I've ever enjoyed myself is when I drove by myself from Atlanta, GA to Ciudad Juarez, Mexico a few years back. I guess that kind of makes me a bit neurotic, but I love the freedom of being all by myself on the open road. As for now I have my own translation business and it's alright but I get antsy being tied down in the same place all the time.
i'm not a trucker but i realize how important you guys are, you have some of the most important jobs in the US and u keep this country moving along, so keep up the good work

Heres the real truth about OTR driving, you got no life and ur wife or GF is cheating on ur ass cuz ur gone for weeks at a time!!! no thanks.... I been a trucker since 85 before a CDL license even existed, I did the OTR in the beginning but hated it, so i been driving local since... i love driving, its the only job that i will do till the day i die!!!
@deputy1040 I agree.OTR sucks balls.Daycab is the only way to go..You get in the truck at 4 am and you're home at 2 or 3..Beats waiting 9 hours for a door at some brokedown, grocery warehouse in New Jersey..Look,Ma,no sleeper in the back!
@kennyworth1967 my hours are from 7am to 3 pm. it doesnt get any better than that. im working for a company that does deliveries for home depot in the miami area, been with them for almost five yrs. driving a flat bed and sometimes the 53 footer. love it !!!!
@deputy1040 My Wife is With me in the truck. So is my girlfriend, fishing buddy, and my friend. And even if I left them all at home, everything would stay just fine. I eneded up with a woman thats loved Me since she was 15, 48 now. and getting ready to have our 2nd wedding aaiversary. no to mention I met her when she was 11 and I was 17. theres a long story to this. As a trucker and even before I became a trucker, I knew and know that without people like me doing the job, america would STOP. Train tracks only cover 25% of the land mass of the United States and river covers less than that. So with that in mind, trucks have to carry the products from the ship yards, rail yards, and any other location that trains, planes, and ships can not get to. So next time you sit down to eat a meal, have a drink, get dressed...etc//if you have it, it has been on a truck.
@lostcausesso Even the stuff the truck is made out of. was on a truck at one time or another. every nut, bolt, screw, piece of plastick, rubber, steel, hose and wires. EVERYTHING was at one time on a truck.
Amen on the comment about Truckers being the back bone of this country. Everything you see and don't see has been on a truck. THANK YOU TRUCKERS!!!! temp.truckin42 com
Must be a awesome job out there, I wish I could move out to the US ad get a job as a truckers, or on the railroad, but as Im from britain its rather difficult to get over there to do that sort of job, if I was a scientist or a doctor it would be easy, but hey u never know. Nice vid mate!
you americans have the most awesome looking trucks! i love them!! sometimes i see one in europe.. especially if there is a us army base somewhere.. do you truckers still use this old school CB radio? :)
Swift dirty dicked me, I work for a company now getting 12 dollars a hour and 150 dollars for per diem, and I go all over lol The boss man gives respect and is friendly =)
@SniperSurkov We are not paid by the hour, were paid by the mile, and usually a flat rate for loading and unloading. Entry level driver starts at about $35k a year, an owner operator (like I was) round $145k a year (after paying fuel but before other expenses). Very good pay, but the costs on the road are high ,paying every meal and showers at truck stops ect can add up.
@SniperSurkov When you work for the company, they pay the fuel , most of them will also pay you a fuel bonus, that is pay you for getting good mileage. When you own the truck, you pay for it. Company driver is not a bad job at all, end of the trip you park the tuck, company has a mechanic to do all repairs and maintenance. Owner operator, you have to do everything
@SniperSurkov Also, like i said were paid by the mile, most company drivers make $.35/mile or so.... even going a slow 55mph, works out to $19.25/hr appx. Great thing about the job too, there is always a shortage of qualified drivers, with 2 years experience and a clean record, you can get work anywhere in north America in 3 days. The job is recession proof. Huge "Turnover" in trucking companies. some as high as 125% or higher, lol tho there is a reason why a company cant hold drivers
I'm 43 with no marketable skills, divorced and my kids are in college...I HAVE to get a career with some longevity, and I love the idea of a truck driving career. Let's face it... I'm setteling for what i can get..Seems to me a good way to make a livin' without a whole lot o' money and not much college credit. I love horsepower and seein' tha' world....Tryin' to go to Roadmaster..Any comments....PLEASE.. Desperate in a small town in Texas with no way out.
@halfmanhalfamazingtx I would stay away from roadmaster. There are many companies that will help you get your CDL, and it won't cost you a penny. As far as settling, you have to want to do this job. It's a lifestyle, and it's not easy. I've been a CDL instructor for 6 years and a driver for 17. Message me if you want some leads to companies with good training programs.
@halfmanhalfamazingtx Ya Flags43 was right. Unfortunately there are a lot of ripoff training programs out there do your research. Also stay away from Swift, I have hears way to many bad stories about them. But, find yourself a good company and like the old saying goes "Find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life" Trucking deffinately gave me that
Don't become a driver? Really. I'm a driver and i have a b s in elecrtronics eng. I make more money out here than behind a desk. Don't be so quick to judge.
Been driving oil-field tankers for 7 years and I'm done... If I didn't have a family I would be OTR without a second thought. Love driving, hate the south of the border drama that has come north into the oil patch.
If you go for a drive for fun. If you think a good long drive is a stress reliever. If you really love to drive, like I do, then truck driving is the best job you'll ever have. If you get stressed behind the wheel and can't wait to get there and get out of the car, please... do yourself a favor and stay out of it.
@Kevinator008 Well it's the truth. 97% of everything people buy was brought in on a truck. Truckers are extremely important, everyone may think that they are just rejects that have socail issues and is not significant to the economy, but I know that trucking is the most vital part of any economy around the world besides the good old U.S.A.
@JoeLil1993 I'm glad you understand too. I just wish everyone else was on the same page instead of judging them because their on the road alot or living out of their sleeper until their loads finished. But they're saying that while living in their comforts, that were delivered by truckers. Its a shame what some people have come to.
Hahaha it is so funny seeing another trucker as myself doing this vid (professional driver) not steering wheel holder. Love hate relationship is right i hate it as much as i love it. Its in the blood but D.O.T can suck my balls
@mudrlandik but trains dont come to your local mall shop in your city, right? we will allways need trucks or we need train-rails everywhere in and to all our citys and shops,so think about over economy. and what would you said if a 2000m train stop for hours in your city and no car can´t pass this huge wall on your road to work or to home`? Truckers keep on rolling, and have allways a good ride.
@myself76NRW ofcourse, for shorter distance, trucks are perfect. but not for long distance... ehm... do you in america realy have so long trains that blocking roads for hours? i neves seen so long train here :)
@mudrlandik they would be so long when no trucks available for delivering shops and gas stations and all the other companys who need goods from another customer.count for every shop, gas station and other customers 1 wagon from a railroad, then you can calculate how long a train for delivering a city must be.
On the Road for America: Sunshine and Night Walker; On the Road for America: 9/11 Story; Life on the Road for America. Those stories are at Yahoo Contributor Network. Truck driving is really something important. In 2004 I made a couple of interviews and got those three nice stories at OBT Truck Stop in FL.
Why do people from the Northern US and Canada say "drive truck'? I have always heard "drives a truck or drives trucks". Whenever I hear it said like that I think of Tonto, "He drive truck, Kemosabe"
my dad is a truck driver and i love to go with him 2 work ! the bad thing is that right now is back is hurting him and his hip but he has no choice but to work .
I imagine you have hip and back problems. Your hip flexors are probably tighter than a 10 year old girl. TRuckers should be required to exercise, if they refuse, beatings would be issued.
Its an unglory job being a truck driver, much and much more were seen like murderes, thiefs. Here in europe we are like rolling money bags for the police. I my self am a truck driver, and a few years back loved this job! Now there are no respect for us the persons who move the world!
I do appreciate your passion sir. Me myself is a cab driver. Driver's here are rea;;y jealous of the roads and driving conditions over there in western countries. If you ever got a chance to view the driving conditions and traffic conjustion in India, do give a look, and for those who are complaining about the driver's i do not have anything to say more, come to our shoe for a day, you will know it.
I drove for years, first OTR then local, I dreamed of a non driving job but I couldnt make anything work out, now I have to go back to driving, its horrible, driving is torture, up all night, driving sleepy, alone, away from home, its hell on earth in my opinion.
My husband is a truck driver, so I know how it is to be on the road! I have went with him a few times, but now that we have 3 children I am a stay at home mother with the kids, while he is gone on the road!
From what I understand you have to attend a CDL/truck driving school that is usually around a month then take the tests to get CDL. You can google it to find out more.
@manager7680 You can try to get a job. But it's never garunteed. I got my class A CDL with a hazmat and tanker endorsement back in december of 2010 and I have not found a job yet. I am currently looking to drive class B vehicles until I get the experience of pulling wieght. It just takes time. If you are serious about going for your CDL I recommend class A. And if you can't find a job for driving an 18 wheeler try for class B. It's all about experience pulling wieght. I hope this helps.
@godblessasiangirls Thanks..thank you a lot for helping me..btw actually m an Indian first of all i have make visa to go to ur country for job..btw class b means 6wheeler??actually i dnt kno all dis..if i drive class b vehicle dn how much is d salary is it hour basis or Km or mile basis??PLs help thanks..
@manager7680 Well I recommend getting a class A CDL because with that you can drive class B vehicles. As for pay, I'm not really sure it really depends on what company you work for, and what you drive for that company. It's different with every company. I wish I could help you out more, but it's very hard to find a trucking job for myself. If I had a job with a company I could tell you how it works with that company.
For as much expense as risk of a trucker. They should pay the expense in the W2 form paving there way to another ignorent fat trucker. Further more consumers will not be affected by a little bitty piss ant trucker so small in the world it ment nothing.
@yamahonkawazuki you have to check your vehicle before you start moving ..if you think your vehicle is safe then u have to fill up your log book..he did non of them that's all.. if your wheel separated when u are driving and if they found that you did not check your vehicle you could get 90 000 $ fine and plus jail if your sapareted tire cause troubles
@Leventtomcat yes i know this. ive driven over 2.5 million af miles. that aisde theis video did not show the pretrip. it started with him driving then outside the truck at some point. so i do not know if he did OR did not do a thorough pre-trip
No pretrip?

Must be a awesome job out there, I wish I could move out to the US ad get a job as a truckers, or on the railroad, but as Im from britain its rather difficult to get over there to do that sort of job, if I was a scientist or a doctor it would be easy, but hey u never know. Nice vid mate!

how much do you earn each hour?
SniperSurkov 4 months ago
@SniperSurkov We are not paid by the hour, were paid by the mile, and usually a flat rate for loading and unloading. Entry level driver starts at about $35k a year, an owner operator (like I was) round $145k a year (after paying fuel but before other expenses). Very good pay, but the costs on the road are high ,paying every meal and showers at truck stops ect can add up.
TheRetiredtrucker 3 months ago
@TheRetiredtrucker ah ok
must you pay the fuel or does the company pay it?
SniperSurkov 3 months ago
@SniperSurkov When you work for the company, they pay the fuel , most of them will also pay you a fuel bonus, that is pay you for getting good mileage. When you own the truck, you pay for it. Company driver is not a bad job at all, end of the trip you park the tuck, company has a mechanic to do all repairs and maintenance. Owner operator, you have to do everything
TheRetiredtrucker 3 months ago
@TheRetiredtrucker ah ok how much does a truck dirver license cost in the US?
SniperSurkov 3 months ago
@SniperSurkov Depends where you go. Some companies pay for new recruits to train, but for schools,,,,, anywhere from $1500 to $3000
TheRetiredtrucker 3 months ago

Desperate in a small town in Texas with no way out.
halfmanhalfamazingtx 4 months ago
@halfmanhalfamazingtx yeah a truck driver is when you want to go around but dont do anything stupid on the road, you wil regret it.
greenbhpk 4 months ago
@halfmanhalfamazingtx Don't pay more than $1,500 for truck driving school. The ones that charge $3 or 4K are complete rip offs.
JungleListSoldier 4 months ago
@halfmanhalfamazingtx I would stay away from roadmaster. There are many companies that will help you get your CDL, and it won't cost you a penny. As far as settling, you have to want to do this job. It's a lifestyle, and it's not easy. I've been a CDL instructor for 6 years and a driver for 17. Message me if you want some leads to companies with good training programs.
flags43 4 months ago
@halfmanhalfamazingtx Ya Flags43 was right. Unfortunately there are a lot of ripoff training programs out there do your research. Also stay away from Swift, I have hears way to many bad stories about them. But, find yourself a good company and like the old saying goes "Find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life" Trucking deffinately gave me that

If you go for a drive for fun. If you think a good long drive is a stress reliever. If you really love to drive, like I do, then truck driving is the best job you'll ever have. If you get stressed behind the wheel and can't wait to get there and get out of the car, please... do yourself a favor and stay out of it.

@JoeLil1993 I'm glad someone else realizes this. I was beginning 2 think i was the only 1 left that believed that.
Kevinator008 3 months ago
@Kevinator008 Well it's the truth. 97% of everything people buy was brought in on a truck. Truckers are extremely important, everyone may think that they are just rejects that have socail issues and is not significant to the economy, but I know that trucking is the most vital part of any economy around the world besides the good old U.S.A.
JoeLil1993 3 months ago
@JoeLil1993 I'm glad you understand too. I just wish everyone else was on the same page instead of judging them because their on the road alot or living out of their sleeper until their loads finished. But they're saying that while living in their comforts, that were delivered by truckers. Its a shame what some people have come to.

@Kevinator008 I agree with you man. It truely is a shame.

@mudrlandik trucks dont cause traffic jams women and foreigners do
K5GIXX 6 months ago
@mudrlandik but trains dont come to your local mall shop in your city, right? we will allways need trucks or we need train-rails everywhere in and to all our citys and shops,so think about over economy. and what would you said if a 2000m train stop for hours in your city and no car can´t pass this huge wall on your road to work or to home`? Truckers keep on rolling, and have allways a good ride.
myself76NRW 4 months ago
@myself76NRW ofcourse, for shorter distance, trucks are perfect. but not for long distance... ehm... do you in america realy have so long trains that blocking roads for hours? i neves seen so long train here :)
mudrlandik 4 months ago
@mudrlandik they would be so long when no trucks available for delivering shops and gas stations and all the other companys who need goods from another customer.count for every shop, gas station and other customers 1 wagon from a railroad, then you can calculate how long a train for delivering a city must be.

I imagine you have hip and back problems. Your hip flexors are probably tighter than a 10 year old girl. TRuckers should be required to exercise, if they refuse, beatings would be issued.

If you ever got a chance to view the driving conditions and traffic conjustion in India, do give a look, and for those who are complaining about the driver's i do not have anything to say more, come to our shoe for a day, you will know it.

From what I understand you have to attend a CDL/truck driving school that is usually around a month then take the tests to get CDL. You can google it to find out more.
AnotherSchmoe 9 months ago
@AnotherSchmoe Thank you for your reply..btw after receiving my CDL licence cn I get job??
manager7680 9 months ago
@manager7680 You can try to get a job. But it's never garunteed. I got my class A CDL with a hazmat and tanker endorsement back in december of 2010 and I have not found a job yet. I am currently looking to drive class B vehicles until I get the experience of pulling wieght. It just takes time. If you are serious about going for your CDL I recommend class A. And if you can't find a job for driving an 18 wheeler try for class B. It's all about experience pulling wieght. I hope this helps.
godblessasiangirls 9 months ago
@godblessasiangirls Thanks..thank you a lot for helping me..btw actually m an Indian first of all i have make visa to go to ur country for job..btw class b means 6wheeler??actually i dnt kno all dis..if i drive class b vehicle dn how much is d salary is it hour basis or Km or mile basis??PLs help thanks..
manager7680 9 months ago
@manager7680 Well I recommend getting a class A CDL because with that you can drive class B vehicles. As for pay, I'm not really sure it really depends on what company you work for, and what you drive for that company. It's different with every company. I wish I could help you out more, but it's very hard to find a trucking job for myself. If I had a job with a company I could tell you how it works with that company.

yamahonkawazuki 9 months ago
@yamahonkawazuki you have to check your vehicle before you start moving ..if you think your vehicle is safe then u have to fill up your log book..he did non of them that's all.. if your wheel separated when u are driving and if they found that you did not check your vehicle you could get 90 000 $ fine and plus jail if your sapareted tire cause troubles

@Leventtomcat yes i know this. ive driven over 2.5 million af miles. that aisde theis video did not show the pretrip. it started with him driving then outside the truck at some point. so i do not know if he did OR did not do a thorough pre-trip
