  • The term "Flapper" came from not buckeling or snapping womes galoshes - they flapped when open, thus the name.

  • Acutally the "flapper" didn't emerg until well into the mid 20's with the advent of the severely raised hemlines. Hemlines in 1921 were still barely above the ankle.
