  • wow I love this song and seeing them perform this live makes me so happy! RIP Karen.

  • Thank you from Germany- this is very very very schön !!!

  • what a beautiful song !

  • :')

  • :')

  • There will never be another Karen, she is unique !

  • Yet another wonderfullly amazing live and nuanced performance of this song. Take special note of this flawlessly executed single take crane camera work. SUBLIME!!

  • Their

  • Love third music

  • @alicitaakatata Yeah, but second & first music is superior.

  • With each day that goes by, now going on 10 months, I'm still sickened by the fact that Karen's friends Carol, Debbie & Frank actually "ALLOWED" Randy Schmidt to bring both himself & his book to East Haven & even worse Nathan Hale Elementary School. I Love & Respect all three of you & I'm really glad that the most precious & private things about Karen Randy will NEVER have to know. The post reaction that Mr. Schmidt was there was Not well received by East Haven. Still isen't!

  • there will never be another like here...none......bcoz theres only 1 Karen Carpenter...and that voice will never be duplicated ever....

  • @lastalot perfection. pitch perfect can be a gift, but she takes that further with haunting lows and stellar highs. She was a gift.

  • she opens her mouth, and magic comes out.

  • @doofus0123 Oh yes indeed. She can carry those notes like no other can. It just makes me so upset everytime I go back to listen to her, why she had to leave us all.

  • Fell in love with her voice

  • the most beautiful voice that ever existed! From the beginning to the end of the song, her voice sounded rich, ptich perfect, sweet to the ears, heart touching, and she sings from the heart and touches the heart of those who hear it. There won't be another Karen who could sing like this. SO BEATIFUL.

  • They look like they should be working at Cracker Barrel

  • Karen looks like a bird

  • vc devia ter vivido mais para nos presentear com sua presenca. reginaldo

  • at this year many people died in chile because ,mister henry kissinger policy, i wasnt here but i feel very sad about it. some are in the rivers with wire on their wrist maybe are just bones at this time . is funny he has peace nobel price is really funny i used to live in colorado at that time viet natmwar was over but he guys ware sic about it i dindnt do anything about that i feel sorry

  • I love Karen as much as anyone here, but I Karen's natural look is much better. The fake eye lashes and plucked eye brows was not flattering on her.

  • Karen has a cool voice......very natural......no effort in singing.....beautiful voice!!

  • LONG LIVE THE CARPENTERS!!!!

  • The loveliest Karen ever looked!

  • What a pretty song!

  • Hermosa canción en la que los hermanos Carpenter manifiestan todo su talento. Ambos inolvidables.

  • just the best. always. this girl and boy. always perfect. so very pretty is this song.

  • Sometimes, not often enough....I do miss Karen Carpenter. If you listen to this song from their studio album and not reflect on those you have missed and even tear up in your eyes, you have to be missing a heart. This song will always remind me how much I missed her...beautiful cannot even cone close to describe that voice.

  • When you e.g. listen to Julie Andrews snging and then you listen to her in an interview, it's the same kind of voice and style. When you hear Karen it's like the voice of an angel, and the first time I saw her in an interview, my impression was:"if I had only seen this girl talking, I would have never imagined she can turn her voice into that marvelous thing when singing".

  • Why is it that both of them sounded so absolutely wonderful when singing / playing, and kind of graceless when they just talked?

  • @vHumboldt77 mm. How so?

  • @vHumboldt77 Scripted perhaps? I don't know; but while we're used to song lyrics being set, it's a bit awkward when we have to converse by repeating lines given to us.

  • so heart warming x

  • We need a voice like this to grace our current music scene.

  • THIS SONG IS MORE BEAUTIFUL THEN WORDS OR THOUGHTS CAN SAY....AMAZING

  • I daresay this is one of my favorite songs of all time -- and especially my favorite Carpenters duet. Perfect for her voice and for Richard's arrangement of it. Thank you !!

  • you are so right, there will never be another one like Karen.

  • what a voice..most beautiful voice i ever heard......

  • Carpenters are cool!!!!

  • Is that Dr. Marcus MD ? lol

  • @GaryNull Yes it is and also Father Knows Best.

  • @renecrod3 hahaha, yes

  • I keep picturing Karen as a frustrated Moe Howard waiting to sing, while Larry (Richard) flares flamboyantly on the keys. Then Moe would slam the piano cover on Larry's fingers! Seriously, I would have loved if they did a stripped down Carpenters album with just Richard's piano, and Karen's forever vocals.

  • @greenwich1754 - That is freakin' hilarious. I didn't really get it until I started the video. When is there going to be a good Carpenters movie?

  • @themederman Glad you liked! I knew (hoped) someone out there would get the analogy. As to a Carpenters movie, they did one in 1989 (T.V,), which I have never seen, but I'm not really interested in seeing someone else portray the Carpenters, and have someone else lip-synch the songs. There are plenty of documentaries on You Tube, the best being "Only Yesterday". I'd rather see Richard Re-master & release old Carpenter concerts with commentary.

  • OK...all those who can get all the way through this song being in tears or without being in tears, please raise your kleenex tissue...your glass of wine...or your VO Manhattan as a toast to the voice of her era (and most any other era...)...Karen Carpenter...Tunesmith

  • Za "jeleznym" zanavesom my ved etogo hichego ne slyshali!...

  • I'm a 40yr old raised on 80s-90s metal music, but I have to give credit where credit is due... Karen had the most powerful voice of the past 3-4 decades. Her style of music isn't my cup of tea, but that voice is hypnotizing... I could listen to her for hours on end and never get tired of hearing Karen... RIP! Such a senseless death!

  • @cncdolphins im with you mate only im abit older and into 70s heavy but have the same appreciation, its a pity she didnt eat more meat pies.

  • They were really angels, bringing us a little piece of heaven.

  • This world was truly blessed to have Karen Carpenter in it

  • soooooooometimes....

  • I think I'm gonna be sad.

  • que bella voz!

  • Karen's voice was so pure and angelic. no other like ever!

  • There will never be another voice like Karen's.

Siempre e amado a Karen. Nomas escuchar su voz me hace olvidar mis problemas y entro en un mundo lleno de paz y armonia. Muchas gracias por su comentario tan maravillosa.

  • ¿porqué no puedo parar de escucharla, una y otra vez..? una joya!

  • This is simply amazing, both the piano and Karen's vocals.

  • Acredito que a vida eterna nos possibilita ir e vir no tempo, onde passamos por momentos como este novamente, onde Karen canta, e nós nos deliciamos com seu talento. LOVE KAREN!

  • We miss you Karen...but thank you for the music.

  • Karen singing LIVE! At the peek of her most talented life. In one word - Beautiful!

  • This is such a beautiful song..I remember this as an album cut on the Carpenters second album from 1971..RIP

  • update. I just watched this video a couple more times and started full on bawling. It lasted at least ten minutes.

Thank you so much for providing this gem, this live, cozy performance with only Karen's voice and Richard's piano. Karen never sounded more beautiful.

I can't imagine Richard hearing and seeing this and not falling apart every time.

  • so beautiful. had to wipe a tear away with that one.

  • @MrJonk1969 karens voice was amazing....this song though is my favorite.....incredible! I met her once at the dentist office....prettier in person!

  • @MrJonk1969 this was a great fantastic song I still think of to this day....great voice! met her once at the dentist office back in 76.......

  • is this their original song?...hmmm

  • Such a difficult song to sing, but Karen makes it seem effortless, and it was for her. Stunning.

  • I miss her voice most of all.......My childhood memories...miss you both Karen and Richard, your lovley piano playing, her awesome voice..never to be compared to anyone,,ever! Miss her so much,a forever fan.

  • THANKS YOU FOR THE MUSIC KAREN.

  • i agree with MrHotsrod;

    R.I.P. Karen

  • Beautiful music from talented musicians. Karen's voice was the best - no one has duplicated it - saw their concert in Houston - fabulous memory. She left us too soon. Linda in Houston

  • Truly the voice of an angel and no doubt she's singing with them now!!! God Bless You Karen Now and Always!!!! Amen

  • Yes...A song that will awake your sleeping heart!!!

  • A beautiful song sung by the awesome Karen Carpenter. What a voice ! What interpretation !

How I miss her !!! Gone TOO soon ...

  • I love this song--it reminds me all the years my mother sacrificed to be the mother and wife to my father..And all these years, she hasn't gotten what she deserved..

  • that was nice

  • THE BEST FEMALE SINGER OF ALL TIME.

  • I am in total agreement.

  • @MrHotsrod There are a dozen or so that are close. Patsy Cline was great for one.

But, I gotta be honest. This was a voice that only comes round once ever hundred years or so.

  • @MrHotsrod YES SHE WAS THE BEST ,AND TO THIS DAY STILL IS. I MISS HER SO.

  • I agree

  • @MrHotsrod 100% agreement here.

  • @MrHotsrod DESDE CHILE COMPLETAMENTE DE ACUERDO. LA MÁS BELLA VOZ, PROFUNDA. UFF!!!

  • @MrHotsrod FUCK YEAH MAN i adore that woman

  • Karen tenia una voz natural que salia del alma. Ahora los cantantes gritan. Que Dios te tenga en su Gloria.

  • the most naturally talented female voice that ever walked on this planet

  • @Maverick747uk Absolutely... there has never ever been another like Karen.

  • My wife and I had this song sung at our wedding as a surprise to our parents. They didn't know we were going to do it. We went down to the front row and presented them with flowers and hugged them. Everybody cried.

  • great post...

  • que dulce es karen

  • thanks for this video!!!

  • BEAUTIFUL X REBECCA

  • I jad forgotten all about this beautiful song.

Thank you for posting it and giving me a much needed 'feel good' moment.

  • Aside from Karen's gorgeous voice, Richard's piano playing is truly magical! Thank you for this wonderful upload. 10+ stars!

  • Wonderful song from a beautiful and talented woman. RIP.

  • Why doesn't anyone sing like this anymore?

  • Record execs now want lyrics that are disgusting and meaningless. It 's as if, we've forgotten music. what it truly is, and how beautiful it is supposed to be.

  • @bandibreath

True, indeed! Their aim isn't disgusting and meaningless, it's just that that's the end result from being "results-oriented" as opposed to process-oriented and getting results from trial and error, as they did back in the day!

  • i born 1980

    i like carpenters

    meanwhile the singer is gone

    from malaya with love

  • Here I sit, a grown man of 34yrs old. Tears running down my face. Why aren't their voices and talent like this anymore? Because the music industry sold out a long time ago. It's all about the money today, that's all. RIP Karen. Wish the world was blessed with more talent like yours.

  • The song "Maybe its you" really touches me....

  • You mean to tell me that Shitney Spears doesn't have talent like this? LOL

  • Karen had such an amazing pure voice. Todays singers use electronic syncing to distrort their voices with the beat, beat ,beat electro sounds..Karen's was real and perfect. No singer today compares to Karen.

  • I was crying while listened this beautiful songs....

    ssure i love carpenters

  • the voice of the heart

  • I LOVE CARPENTERS.........

  • its one of those songs i can't forget

  • Fantástico, e não são 26 anos, mas 36!!!!

  • plis, somebody could help me to find a carpenter`s song, I saw the video once and I dont remember the name, the video its about a girl is taking care of a guy in a bath, hes completly down....tripping or i dont know....thank you

  • LOVE THIS SONG. I think about my parents...all of a sudden!

I have a big lump on my throat...life is meaningless without my family. I cannot love anyone as much as I love them...

  • I know exactly how you feel.

  • Was that Marcus Welby?

  • Wow, Karen was soooo adorable!

  • Uuuuhhh!!!!!!!!!!Impresionante...qué hermosa letra,por Dios!!! Gracias amigooo!!!Germán.

  • one of the greatest songs of the one of the greatest singers of all time--karen carpenter.

  • Just listening to every word of this song will make you realize that every moment with your love ones is very, very precious and should not be taken for granted.

  • Who would have thought ten years from this footage she would be dead

  • i absolutely love this song, Karen had a great voice and it was pure, unlike the computerised shite we have to endure now

  • I am crying --I cry when I listen to this and know that Karen touched my heart.

  • She ever live in my heart and my maind, becuse only She can Tranmition the Feelings in a song.........your voice ever live

  • lov u caren!!

  • hard to beat the true performers who do not rely on slick video and overdone tricks on their sound to give great entertainment. only wish i had the chance to see the carpenters perform live when karen was around. new music reflects new attitude. to me it appears to reflect a recent generation of foul mouthed ill mannered and self centred brats. most of the modern pop music fails to deliver quality and integrity.

  • How true, how true ...

  • depends what you look for in music, that is the beauty of it, music offers something for everyone, its not an exclusive club, and just because music hasn't got the same "integrity" nowadays doesn't make it any worse, really i don't see what integrity has to do with music, to me what you have just said is utter, utter bollocks from yet another old person moaning about todays youth, music doesn't have to be truthful or honest, or even nice, its just down to someones taste.

  • maybe if todays youth learnt to dress themselves the oldies would respect them a little more. why do you wear your pants around your knees? and wear jeans that don't fit you? you end up looking like you can't dress yourself. and no one cares what your undies look like except the companies that advertise themselves for nothing on your bum you dill. listen to yourself you idiot. you are a self centred brat. pull your pants up and get a life.

  • yeah and they listen to deafening music nonsense music! they should listen to oldies music like this!

  • i am young and i am listening to this music, i really enjoy this music.

  • Not all music of today is defeaning and nonsense. I do listen to oldies music and I totally have nothing against it. It's just we all have to be openminded, and refrain from generalizing things or ideas. And I kind of agree with hay0506's comparative statement.
