@zperic1 To be honest, it's for no reason. All the 'rituals' are probably done for shock effect so that it gets more publicity. Being an Athiest and Satanist, although similar, are still different. The only real 'athiest' part of Satanism is the denial of greater deities. Otherwise, it's quite different.

Atheism is the rejection of all deities where as Satanism is a philosophy which incorporates atheism amongst other things. With Atheism for exmaple, you do not have a set of rules and principles on how you should live but in Satanism you do. Although these rules aren't as strict as the bible, they are merely guidelines of how a Satanist should live his life.
