  • Yes, I disliked this video. And no, you can't ... uh, never mind.

  • @natty0804892381 Ha, you tried to insult Train's cover by calling it "gay" when in fact the original was written by a gay man. I have no idea how you came up with the idea of calling Pat Monahan a "Cher wannabe"--that's certainly...interesting.

  • Train's cover is way better than this.

  • @historybuff09 yeah sure, if gay 'cher wanabee' covers are your thing then who am i to argue?

  • One of the best pop song ever written. Period.

  • @YouDummy Correction - one of the best songs ever written... PERIOD!

  • love how the bassist is rockin' out

  • If you could change Dave Grohl's mind.

  • @alastairjr40 what does that mean?

  • This is a wonderful pop song. WHY OH WHY BOB, do you continually use a distorted guitar for this live? Loses a lot of its charm and subtlety.

  • This, along with "Too Far Down" and "See A Little Light," is one of the best songs he's ever done. Thanks for sharing the video!

  • Ricky Gervais sent me ;)

  • the bassist is my teacher

  • I am sure that Bob is very happy that "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" has been repealed. 2:37 is clearly commenting on his stance on that.

  • @shelleyinthecity Now if only marriage equality on the national-level could be next on the list to be fixed!

  • spining camera reminds me of that 70sshow

  • this song made happy a 90´s brazilian indie rock teenager...

  • Heard this in a pub years ago and could never find out what it was. Finally!

  • Copper Blue is one of my all time favorite albums. Grunge-pop at it's finest.

  • It's like Husker Du teamed up with the Go-Betweens. Magnificent!

  • great song dosent Bob look like Andy Partridge

  • temazo...inspiracion celestial...

  • I honestly prefer Bob's solo, crunched-up "cover" version he did for AV Club Undercover.

  • Pop fucking PERFECTION. I still get goosebumps EVERY TIME I hear this song. 'nuff said.

  • In the perfect world, you tune the POP station on the radio and a song like this one is playing.

  • Bobs got big since this video, still love his music though :)

  • bob mould...husker du...sugar... whatever the man does is gold and I did have the pleasure of meeting bob in manchester boardwalk with sugar and he was a real gentleman :)

  • 'kin classic

  • @muskypucker If i met Bob Mould, I think I would pass out.

  • Bob Mould, Michael Stipe, Peter Garet

the three most epic bald men ever

  • @muskypucker you don't get out much eh?

  • this dude is terrifying

  • This is gorgeous.....

  • And now we all know where The Rembrants ripped their Friends theme song.

  • 20 years on and its still an awesome piece of music-should have been no.1 all over the planet

  • If i only knew where my copy of Copper Blue is....

  • as important 15 years ago as it is today. sadly.

  • I can't realize, for now, Bob without Grant and Greg... but I'm trying to listen also to this band, which is considered one of the best thing in the 90's.. however, Nothing can reach Husker Du, for me

  • this is not your parents' world

  • Sugar should have been a bigger splash but the industry was turn to anything grunge; which Sugar wasn't. Bob Mould and his band made some powerful songs. They are never ballads. It is songwriting at its best!

  • I remember hearing two Aussie backpackers strumming and singing this song in Edinburgh in '92....

    Bob Mould is a LEGEND.

  • watch?v=8djGYRNweRk

    Your Favorite Thing video oficial...

  • As great as "Copper Blue" is, I have to say that "Beaster" was much better. It was a six-song EP but it was still better. And freakin' louder, too!

  • This song is incredible.

  • funniest song to play on a guitar

  • @davidfregoli why?

  • @sekon2008 well, get a guitar and have fun yourself xD

  • @davidfregoli i have 3 .....

  • Again, thank you for posting this! First time I ever saw the video to this awesome song! I love Sugar! Bob Mould is such an amazing musician and writer =). And yes, "Copper Blue" is one of the best albums there is as well! Keep rocking, Bob!!! =)

  • Funny to notice how words sound the same, regardless of the side you love !

  • if you like this try Husker Du. moulds earlier band

  • Such an incredible song from a band that never got its due recognition - "Copper Blue" is one of the greatest albums ever - not a single bad track from start to finish - all absolutely incredible..

  • @daviddowns81 This song just cheer's me up , everything is just so, ... .Nothing is perfect.

  • ドラマ「青春もの」の主題歌でしたよねぇ

    懐かしいなぁ(*´ω`)

  • Copper Blue is in my top 10 fave albums. I never tire of it. Great stuff

  • This is the best track of the '90s.

  • I LOVE Sugar.....but you shouldn't pick on Radiohead....they all make up the music soup of the early 90's .....taste so good! (mackusch)

  • I remember listening to Sugar whilst working on my '78 VW microbus. That was one awful bus and one fantastic band!

  • This video is telling all the gay kids and teenagers out there that it is OK to be who you are and not to be afraid. It may be tough, but you are who you are. If other people can't accept it, then too bad.

  • @shelleyinthecity Thanks, you just wrecked the song for me.

  • @xplund It is well known Bob Mould is gay. At 2:20 he shows the football player, at 2:37 the military man. Then at 2:44 he is flashing pictures with messages on it. Read the messages. They can only mean one thing. One has the football player and military man on it and says "what you see is not what you get." The card at the end of the video says "THIS IS NOT YOUR PARENTS WORLD." Obviously it is a message to all the young gay kids out there who are trying to cope with it.

  • @shelleyinthecity I know Bob Mould is a gay activist, I was just kidding you. It's also true that his career tanked after coming out of the closet right smack in the middle of the FUEL tour. I wonder if it was worth it?

  • cant sit still to this music....classic power pop/rock...go Bob, go

  • Album of the year in 1992 according to NME. For once totally agreed!

  • I think I die and go to heaven every time I watch Bob flick that last photo, leaving the Sugar imprint hanging in the air.

  • Comment removed

  • They look like a Kids in the Hall skit. I wish I'd known about 'em when I was a kid.

  • The reminding song is "Just like Heaven". Mix both + you'll hear.

  • The mini guitar solo a 1:49 reminds me of a Cure-song, I just can't recall the name!?!. Suggestions, anyone?

  • The godlike Bob Mould....

  • Copper Blue is an awesome album..........but now I am wondering if Bob was trying to convert me.........

  • total quality from probably the biggest under rated band of their era. especially when you concider the shite that was getting rave reviews. living legends without legend status unfortunately.

  • @daviddowns81 totally agree..bob mould is a visionary

  • @daviddowns81 Very true!

  • SUGAR WAS ONE OF THE GREASTEST BAND EVER!

  • Great song but a pretty shit video

  • This is a great song, but my favorites on that album were 'Helpless' and 'A Good Idea'.

  • Wow, I love that cardigan he's wearing...XD

  • PoP?

  • Good song and video

  • the song sounds like the cure

  • @DHLHC - How so? I have never noticed any similarity between this song by Sugar and The Cure. And Robert Smith has a higher voice than Bob Mould, and a British accent as well. One of the things I really liked about Sugar is that they didn't sound like anyone else at the time.

  • I think s/he was hearing the same notes in Boys Don't Cry, maybe. there are only 12 notes in music. but yeah, Sugar had a very different Sound from the Cure. and voice, British accent or no, Mould's upstate New York "nasal curse" is rather unmistakable, recognizable and not found in other bands so prominently that I can think of anyway....

  • Anybody has this song in mp3 ???

  • finally... this song is outdated.

  • Copper Blue shaped my taste in 11th grade, from there I was able to bounce back from pop punk to power pop and everything inbetween. Thank you Bob, you are a hell of a musician with all the right pop tendencies.

Also, anyone slagging on the Train version should take another listen, while not the same greatness, it has a giant theatrical feel. This one is just more...pure and wholesome.

  • Man, I love Bob Mould. From Husker Du, to solo, to Sugar, and back to solo....One of the best musicians of....EVER. Thanks so much for posting--I used to have this video (taped from good old 120 Minutes) but lost it somewhere.

  • does his shirt say condoms?

  • @TheHawkdaddy YES!

  • Bob Mould=Legendary songwriter & performer. PERIOD!!

  • Bob looks so slim in this video! And I want that cardigan, it has that "Neo-Jedi look!" -"With all the crazy doubts you've got,I love you even still!"

  • in my view this album is up there with peal jams ten and the stone roses...what an album....

  • totally brilliant. one of the best tracks of the 90s and still stand the test of time. Bring back Bob Mould

  • not a bad song on copper blue... good from first song to the last. brings back some old memories from high school. bob mould... what a legend!

  • @prpwinenc aww the memories, this song can almost put me back in my old pickup in the high school parking lot. I think copper blue might be the best album from first to last song.

  • <3 this song, bob looks like a bit of a noob in this vid, but i still loves it

  • bob mould is god

  • One of the most underrated albums of the early 90's loved Copper Blue.

  • they played one of the worst gigs i've ever seen (they looked tired and bored) but i adore this album.

  • Bob Mould ranks right up there with Brian Wilson. Whether walking down an esplande or however goes the spelling - close enough - this song is exceptional. Only if I can change your mind, mind you.

  • these hurry worry days

  • One of Steve Merchants all time favourite songs!

  • heh, had to check this song out after listening to the xfm show where they play this.

  • @slate20

    legendary

  • missed huker du... but sugar was one of the most important bands to me, formatively. second the thank god for bob mould. wishing well and other solo stuff also fantastic... i would say he is, over the least 20 years, one of the most neglected musicians out there. i also love the pixies and frank black, black francis... but bob mould never got the cred he should have...

    peace

  • Bob, ... I love you ;.... . Its important , The whole rock n roll world misses Husker Du . Lets all have our favorite band back .

  • you can forget God, theres a higher power at work here..." im sorry baby " being case in point...

  • Thank god for Bob Mould. One of the great american songwriters. F*cking magic is right.

  • warehouse songs n stories aw god im drunk f*ckin magic

  • Ahh, Sugar - further evidence of Mould's brilliance that he could lead another band with an entirely different sound than Husker Du and really pull it off. Great to hear this one again - thanks for posting.

  • grunge doesnt exist without husler du (this guy was in husker du)

obviously you liek pearl jam a great grunge band, theyd be fucked without this band, who influenced the pre nirvana grunge wave.

  • got copperblue on cd now, this takes me back 2 when had copperblue on tape after passing driving test driving about listening 2 this up loud in v reg mk1 fiesta sport in 1992,still sounds fresh, brill

  • He did an acoustic version of this at a show I went to many years ago that was very moving. A really nice song. Brings back many great memories. Thanks for posting!

  • File under easy listening!!!!!!!!! right up there with copper blue.

  • one of my favorite albums of all time ever. nothing holds a candle to it. genius. thank you for posting this.

  • My sentiments exactly :)

  • i used to have this on "cassette", remember them?

  • On of thier best

  • bob knows how to write a cool tune

  • Een van de weinige nummers die je elke dag kunt beluisteren, zonder dat het begint te vervelen. Zeer aanstekelijke melodie.

  • Brilliant Track

  • Copper Blue is the best album ! Beaster and the poison years dont have the same feeling to them!

  • one the best albums ever, love this album when I'm driving.

  • In the 90's everybody is talking about Bands like Pulp, Radiohead or NIRVANA...fuck them all,the greatest Band in this period of time was Sugar !!! Rock on Bob

  • Sugar and R.E.M. are my favourite bands of the early '90s.

  • @mackusch

You are right! it's a great band!

  • @mackusch now now children ;D

  • @mackusch Love Me some BOB

  • amazingamazingamazingamazingamazingamazingamazingamazingamazingamazingamazingamazingamazingamazingamazingamazingamazingamazingamazingamazingamazingamazingamazingamazing

  • An eternally fresh song. Nice playing, vocals and well-written!

  • Brilliance!

  • Thanks MTV2 Europe (for once) for introducing me to this fucking amazing song

  • Wow. I just sat down and learned this song on guitar. It made me appreciate it so much more! The ending of the verses (the fast chord changes D, A, Bm, F#m, G --> A-riff) is simply a stroke of genius! It feels so good playing this song!

  • Anybody know the name of the tune that the Resnick show on KFI uses from Beaster that is the intro song for the radio show?

  • 深夜のテレビドラマで流れていて、お気に入りでした。PV見るのは初めてです。今聞いても

    最高にいいですね。。

  • I want that shirt

Also, Sugar was one of the best short lived bands ever. They did a lot with two albums, and EP, and a B-Side album.

  • Wow! Thanks for sharing this.

Must dig out old Sugar CDs.

    Bob Mould is genius.

  • Brilliant song. thanks for posting.

  • I just saw Bob a month ago in L.A. w/o his band at a small hotel joint. He rocked. It was great hearing him perform his old material as well as the new stuff.

  • Did he play w/o drums? I saw him last fall and he played an entire electric guitar/bass show w/o drums. Weird.

  • At the L.A. show, it was only him alternating from acoustic to electric guitar & singing w/o a bassist or a drummer. He sounded cool to the point where no one (including myself) cared that the drums & bass wasn't there. But I'm still definitely looking forward to seeing him in Oct. with his band with that fuller sound.

  • 夢中になって聞いていたころを思い出します。

    いつ聴いても良い曲です♪

  • Bob is hands down one of the best songwriters of his generation. How about that -- punk icon as cultural standard bearer.
