never understood what the hell is going on, and I still don't know, it was like aliens in a tomb, always creeped me out, and the music gave the feeling of helplessness, one, if not the only one, labyrinth game that was actually giving you the creepy feeling of being in a labyrinth (I know those were only pillars but still)
I used to hate these kinds of games...you play and play then get to the end to watch some completely lame screen. AKA - Beyond the Forbidden Forest...Hydrax...etc
I never really could figure out this game. I spent a lot of time playing it too I remember the instructions that came with the game didn't really tell you much either.
I don't care what anybody says, the Commodore 64 was flat out, 1 of, if not THE best PC's ever made. Excellent graphics, sound, & abundant software titles, some of which are timeless . It's 64k (tiny by today's standards) seemed to give it a power out of all proportion to the size. I still play it daily thx to VICE emulator, & I have 20,000+ (basically ALL) programs. It does so much, with so little, IMO it is the PC that really sparked the home PC craze. Long live the Mighty Commodore 64!!!
As most people i had a copy of it and therefore no user manual or instructions.
I thought it was kinda cool and mysterious but i never figured out whats actually to do in that game except hunting those ghosts and collect the symbols.
That screen that comes when you ran into one of these spiders or whatever they are was completely beyond me. What does the gas mask mean ? Which symbols to click there ? Never found it out
Back in the day when everyone had cracks of rare c64 games (though I did buy tons of games)- this was one I could never figure out- so much for user friendly interface.
Used to play this in fifth grade...I never understood what the heck I was supposed to do...I always thought I had to avoid the ghoul/gremlin on the first floor (which I did anyway since he freaked the fuck out of me O_O)
basically even the dude completing it couldnt do the lift bits properly- i dont know anyoen who could even then- so hes having to grab all the potions he can to get his life force (the graphic next to the sandtimer with the fillign black level) down to a minimum for each level. The puzzles on this were an absolute bastard to do, in the days of no real print screen, you needed a really good memory and patience. The mosters can be ran into with minimal damage, except on the last level.
I think the reason he's running into the monsters instead of doing it properly is so he can fit it into a 10 minute video. I've actually finished it with a perfect score... I have a photographic memory and I'm good at recognizing patterns and love puzzles. Even still, it took me quite awhile to finish it.... like you said... this game requires (an ample supply of) patience. I always loved the background music too.
haha.. I remember this game too! I'm in the USA and I had it. Invaders of the Lost Tomb.. had no friggin clue what the hell was going on! I just know when I turned the corner and ran into a ghost a 'bout shit myself ;) oh and I always died in the elevator.. probably because I was using a Coleco controller.. those SUCKED SO BAD!
In some countries this was sold as "Invaders of the Lost Tomb", with no English instructions. Or instructions that were useless, IIRC.
Any some ways this was a solid followup to Forbidden Forest in that you had a soundtrack and you could toggle it off and hear ambient noises like your heartbeat and breathing and spider noises.
Odd, odd game. Quite how you figured out what to do is beyond me - I remember enjoying the weirdness of it, but could never figure out what the heck to do! Cool music too.

Flying spiders in the 2nd tomb freaked me out.
I actually used mini cards from paper to figure out the puzzle in the last area of this game. lol
Good times.

Seems like an amazing game. Did it have an American release? I would like to pick it up if I can!

I remember loving the 3d effect in this game. (Even though it didn't take me long to figure out exactly how it was done.)
But I simply hated having no idea what was going on. I had the game for months before even realizing that there was a second floor!
