I don't think it received universal "hatred" so much as mixed reception. The film was praised for numerous aspects while criticized for others... It was just a mixed-bag for money people.
Regardless, it has become quite the cult film over the years. It has a lot of diehard fans; so much, in fact, that Disney is planning a Blu-Ray re-release and comic book sequels.
That is surprising to hear. Even Blu Ray?
I dont know, most people I speak with claim to hate this one.
