Is not the Word of God suffcient enough for you to teach people within your community? By leaving out the word of God you leave out Christ. John 1:14. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.True conversion comes from the same holy spirit which rose Christ from the dead. Men may abuse their authority in many churches nowdays, but that should'nt be a platform to market our own cause.
Tony Jones is listed as one of the people that are pushing this new doctrine at the church, that there is more than one way to heaven and that your can be a buddist and a christian. all for the UN NWO view of having a one world religion. He is with Rob Bell, Doug Paget, Ken wilber, Phylis Tickle Richard Foster, Benjamin creme. The list goes on, this is the thing that was taught us by Jesus to look out for. Make a stand now christians, stand against this new watered down gospel
To me tony just wants to hae one foot in the world and one foot out. He wants to be a "christian" follow some doctring but the encorporates various teachings that are not Biblical into his approach to the Bible. If you don't believe that the Bible is the absolute word of God, inspired by God as the manual of life for mankind, you are not really serving God. What you have dont id joined worldly principles to the Biblical teachings to suit your beliefs and created this image of God in your mind
(2) The Bible says do not make any graven image of God but twisting the image of God t suit the feelings you have is a form of idolatry. Spirituality has no place in the church if it is not all about the Holy Spirit and the way to the Holy spirit is to have fellowship with the Father in spirit and truth. If you try to worship God outside of the truth of His word, you might get a spirirt but it won't be the Holy Spirit because God is subject to His word,He and it are one. Adam never had a ...
(3) a physical mother and father and yet from the relationship he had with God, in his spirit came "a man shall leave his mother and father and be joined to his wife".Marriage was instituted by God as the foundation for procreation and it wasa demonstration of the Godhead and the kind of relationship we are to have with one another. The woman compliments the man.If you took ten men, removed one of their ribs and tried to put a rib into a different body it would not be complimentary, in the same
(4)God wants us as ppl to be joined as one body of christ, children of God with Him as our Father and when we marry the one God has designed for us what we lack they bring to our lives. When confronted with divorce,Jesus went back to the beginning because it ws in teh beginning we can see the will of God and the reason why things were going wrong and causing ppl to want to divorce. The pharisees were calling something that was not marriage in the sight of God marriage, thats why it wasn't working
(5) God commanded Adam and eve to multiply. God being in control, could have sustained mans population even if there was no death, so theres no reason to believe that atime would have come where God would have had to say "okay, marry but don't reproduce anymore", homosexuality contradicts that command . Ppl who believe the verses about homosexuality are in the context of abuse based on the culturen need to then explain what culture was there in the garden of Eden? Even in sodom, when the men
(6) wanted the angels, Lot did not comdemn their desire for sex, he condemned the fact that they wanted to have sex with another man, we know this because Lot then offered his daughters, a similar story is seen in judges 19. The Bible is not primitive or outdated because the truths in the Bible never ceases to be true or lose their relevance and the author never changes; as long as God stands His moral law stands.Even exodus 20:17 talks about taking another mans wife and ezekiel 16:49-50 was
(7) reiterated by Jesus in Matthew 6:21,15:18-19. In ezekiel 16, before the issue of homosexuality is touched it lists the hearts of the ppl that led them to live a life contrary to the will of God, they were proud and pride came before even the first fall in heaven and on earth. Lucifer was full of pride, eve wanted to be like God without God, their innermost beings had already turned from God. Their treasures were self willed and self satisfying, the fruit of the condition of their hearts
(8) were the manifestations of eh actions they displayed. In sodom the ppl were rebellious and corrupt in their thoughts, they were not like Adam (in the beginning) they were lazy, selfish and lacked a relationship with God and had no desire to cultivate the things of God.These mindsets led them to live a life, in all ways contrary to the will of God.We have to be careful not to add to the word of God, seek the interpretation of the word from God.
I like Tony Jones and think he's probably a nice and educated man. However, when fundamentalists Christians say that the Bible teaches that God hates gay people, they are absolutely right. You cannot read the Bible and come away thinking that God is okay with homosexuals without doing interpretation gymnastics. The same is true about slavery and other issues. The Confederate preachers who supported slavery were Biblically correct. Abolitionists are on the wrong side of a Biblical debate.
"for God so loved the WORLD".... I think homosexuals fall in that category... not many of us would die for a friend few for a strangers but while we were still sinners Christ died for us- that is a paraphrase of Paul but the message remains Christ loves all in spite of sin be it a homosexual or a racist. that being said he loves us enough to let us choose sin or salvation. God hates sin, not sinners, that might sound cliche but I believe it to be Biblical truth. your interp of the bible is sad.
I'm really sorry that I didn't get a chance to chat with you at Blackstump, Tony. I had tonsilitis and had to stay in bed for most of Saturday arvo. Kicking myself now, especially after seeing these videos. Great work.
These guys have some good points about where the church has messed up in the past, but their response is wrong. It seems a lot of the Emergent movement is made up of people who are *angry* about past experiences and are just trying to do anything that's different. The problems come when they start questioning the essentials of the Christian faith, like a need for salvation. Take that away and what's left? Just doing good things here and now because it makes the world a better place.
Judging from the responses we've gotten we're not the "angry" ones. I don't have a problem with the essentials of the faith, especially Salvation. I do have a problem with a walk-the- aisle, sign-a-form,sit in a pew and wait for the rapture style of salvation that I was taught. And yes you're right we're trying to do anything thats different as long as its following God in the way of Jesus. If thats the wrong response......
Woah, didn't think I'd get a response from The Trucker himself. I wasn't trying to be angry or rude, just concise. :) But...
When asked if he's born again in another video from the interviews Tony gets almost sarcastic about an experience he had at camp and concludes by saying that he doubts his faith and wonders if he's living for a lie every single day. I'll be the first to say I in no way have God "nailed down", but shouldn't we be able to know the gospel with a deep conviction? (1 Thes 1)
I think you have to take it all in context...Tony was answering a question from a guy who disagrees with most everything he says on blogs etc...the answer was not meant to meet all of the systematic theological nuances, but simply to prove a point, He got "born again" and walked the aisle, BUT his salvation is something that he lives out each day asking God the tough questions, and placing Jesus in his place daily! I don't think Tony meant he is uncertain of God and His work in his life!
I accepted Christ when I was 16 in an IFCA church in Oregon. I graduated from Western Baptist Bible College in Salem, Oregon. So I think I have fundamentalist cred. ;). Tony and I have talked and I can say that Tony has very deep convictions about the gospel and his faith in Christ. I think we're more concerned with the superficial outward show that so many groups emphasize(as in my previous comment) rather than genuine commitment to follow Christ. Thanks for the chance to talk.
