I know several people, like myself, who chose USC over UCLA or UCB. Moreover I know several who got into both of the overcrowded, underfunded, public institutions but go denied at USC. USC admits this year had higher SATS, and where only admitted at a rate of 21% vs FUCLAs 24%.

Haha, well, you being a smart U$C student should know the difference between the way that both schools assess SAT scores, correct? $C takes your highest scores from different sections during different sittings and combines it into a single score that is slightly higher that UCLA's average. At UCLA, he like to see what students are capable of in a single sitting, when it matters most. We don't like parents who buy their kids tests until they don't fuck up too badly.

Yeah, great, USC allows you to take the SAT as many times as you want and combine the best scores from each section to create a misleading final score. UCLA takes student's score in one sitting, so it reflects one's ability to achieve a score under higher pressure.
