@jimyerk2k Thought I had responded here, apologies! Cranked up it'll get ya there, especially for really small gigs where the drummer's already holding back a lil, or if he simply has a light touch. A real heavy handed drummer will def give these little guys a run for their money. Again, these are great little amps for the dough, but I won't be buying another one unless i come across a good deal on a modded one mounted in a bigger cabinet like the tonedog oversized tweed cab...
@GetTheImmigrants I would say no, but depends on your gtr's output, drummer, and size of the gig. Go with the next size up amp. Like a blues jr, vox ac15, egnater tweaker/rebel series. Don't need more watts, just a better speaker and bigger cab. I gigged with this a couple times, playing blues with it cranked up and overdriving, and it was barely loud enough. Lil guy only has 15 watts and 1x10, got swallowed whole by the other players deluxe rev RI @ 22 watts w/1x12 speaker
Haha, me again. I just got the amp. Its nice. But it has an odor to the tubes. The tubes start to smell like a burning plastic or electrical burning. I was just wondering if you experienced this?
@MrZachtheRocker These guys run pretty hot, so if it's a very faint smell and the amp seems to work as it should, then I wouldn't worry about it. Of course if it smells strongly like somethings burning or you see smoke, then you might want to take it into a tech, lol. But like I said, if it works and sounds good, there can't be anything too terrible going on inside, lol.
Nice video dude, really helpful. I'm thinking of getting this soon, as I'm bedroom player who wants a tube amp. Anyway, I have a les paul, and would humbuckers perform well? I'm pretty sure they would but somebody tried to warn me about fender amps and humbuckers. I have a fender solid state and it seems fine.
And is the amp worth the money? It seems like a great price.
It'll be fine with humbuggies. You'll get some good crunch pushing it with buckers over singles. break up around 3 to 4 instead of 5 to 6 like with my strat. To be honest, if I had it to do over again, I'd get a Vox ac15. For 600 bucks brand new, it's way more flexible and giggable, while being manageable enough to rock out he smallest of bedrooms... The pro jr is way cool considering you can get em for less than 250 used, but there are cooler amps out there for a lil more $
Wow, that room is a true acoustical masterpiece. It is in rooms like this one that you just run an 18 watt to a 1x12, put a couple condensers on the ceiling at opposite sides of the room, and a dynamic a foot in front of the speaker, pan the condensers left and right, center the dynamic, and your 18 watt with a 1x12 will record like a stereo double-stack!
May have to invite one of my tech head audio buddy's over to try that out, since I don't any of the equipment necessary for that, lol. if I manage to get that accomplished, I'll post some vids...
Don't hold your breath tho, I mean I've only posted the one vid so far even tho I keep saying i'm gonna post more, heh.
@BigAndouille If I knew how to post audio to YT, I would put up an audio only demo of my (feel free to copy this) poplar 1x12, eminence swamp thang, dowel-jointed, 15" wide X 15" tall and about 11.73" deep, 3/4" stock polar, full rear panel with an oval cut (rounded rectangle is more like it, 8" wide X 3.5" tall) right behind the speaker, birch ply baffle with two 1/2-circles for the cutout, so there's a 3/4" diagonal strip over the center of the cone. It records like a stack AT LEAST!
Yep! Totally stock Fender Pro Jr. from 2008 I believe, it's been sold, so i can't be for sure on that. Got it new, never modded it, didn't even upgrade tubes or speaker. 2 knobs, an input, and a switch, gotta love it!
Texas specials in the strat. Not my favorite pups, but they sound good in this particular guitar, much better than the last guitar they were in. Bright and punchy, but still thick and full.
do you think if you turned it up all the way it would compete with a drummer? (I know it would break up alot)

Hey man, I'm in a ska band and have been real interested in this amp. Would it get loud enough at smaller gigs without breaking up too much?
