I wish they would put the Organ pipe whistle back on Anaka, it matches her better than her current one. Myrtle sounds good with either whistle, but that Organ pipe 3-chime is better than Anaka's current Powel 3-chime.
The Anaka is still in service. Although all of the red cars are now yellow and has bright flowers on it...wish they would keep it red like the old days....I love the Anaka...That engine can pull!!!!!
@hawchubby39 Anyone still singing and playing guitar on the train. Honestly, the guy who was singing really made the trip, the scenery wasnt bad either!
@neomrdo yes they do have a singing conductor still riding on the trains....Anaka was just refurbished and Myrtle is next to get a total overhaul....again nice post!!!
@hawchubby39 From recent videos I have seen, Anaka looks like she is in need of an overhaul, and Myrtle looks more fresh and clean. I thought Myrtle was given an overhaul after her accident she had in 05 when she hit the dump truck.
Wonderful video! I am so glad that they have preserved the train on Maui as a historic relic of the past. As you may know there was regular train service on O'ahu and the Big Island at one time which has been replaced by cars and trucks. Auwe!
@Chris9017 - they just gave Anaka her Overhaul in 2010...She is looking brand new....The cars are next to get worked on according to the crew....

I see she had the Organ pipe whistle mounted on her at the time. 1995 was the time I rode behind old Anaka. I would love to ride the train again.
