I grew up with this game! Yeah, more passwords would definitely be nice. And the levels did get repetitive after a while. But the different music for each one and the changes from night to day made each level different enough for me.

ZOMG i grew up playing this game!!!!

it got so damn hard, i never made it to the pyramid levels as a child. ah, many a controller met its end when i played this game. especially when killer dolls became involved.

Great review! I agree with not having so many levels, passwords for every level, and being generous with stronger weapons. Which explains why I was never able to beat the game. I always picked the girl over the nerd btw. lol

I liked this game back in the day, as it's really high quality and fun, but it isn't perfect.. so I agree with your criticisms. 7/10 is the right score. It's a very good game, but could have been better with tighter design. Definitely deserves its classic status.

Again I think your review is hard, for example a german magazine gave it a 9/10, but they also think (What most people do) that a game that scores 5/10 is pretty bad. I gotta say that the cover ist pretty weird and looks a lot more terrifying than the actual game :D Isn't there a sequel to ZAMN? Good review, I especially liked the part where you explained the controls in detail :) Fun fact: In Germany the game is just called "Zombies!" ^^

This is a game I definitely need to check out. I have lots of Konami titles for the SNES and one day I hope to add ZAMN to my collection! Why you ask? Because this looks like one of the most challenging games I would love to take a crack at and it has good music too. Anyway, great review SNES MAN!

oh man...Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts...the 2nd hardest game I've ever beaten. I hope I'm not reviewing that game someday, it's a pain in the ass. The hardest game I've beaten is Ghosts 'N Goblins for the NES. That game is just evil.

1. the jumping controls (no changing directions in the air)
