Takes in back in those creole day in New Orleans! We don't have music like this anymore. No one speak french anymore, Je m'ennuie de l'ancien temps français! =(
The VHS hooked up to a 8track receiver and giant speaker boxes sounds way better than this 21 century crape. Maybe its because I replace all the fuses with bolts, Making it a true 1800 watt system, and not some peace of crape!
Wow i've loved this song for as long as i can remember and i just learned like 3 minutes ago that Brian Setzer from the Stray Cats (the band i love also) is the singer of this song!!! I can't believe it's him!
@Ch0pj0b So, your argument is that if something sells millions of copies, that automatically makes it good music? By that logic, that would make Nickelback, ICP, Limp Bizkit and Justin Bieber better musicians than Brian Setzer because they've all sold millions more than he ever has. People can leave whatever negative comments they want. It's a free society and we're all entitled to our opinions.
@Skibz778 I personally do not like any of those groups! But, take the time to leave negative comments.Says something about there own personal deamons than the quality of the music they were listing to. Maybe if they left constructive criticism, but all was left was 'this is so bad. I don't like Nickelback, they sold millions of copies! Maybe it's ME! Hopefully one day certain people in society will learn that even that we are entitled to our own opinions that they don't need to share them
The line that goes "A woman is a woman and a man ain't nothing but a man" actually goes. " A woman is a woman and a man ain't nothing but a male." Rhymes with wail.
I love this song and so many others from the same era.
My grandparents used to dance like this!
Many times, my grandfather's band would be playing at the dances they attended, so my grandmother danced with a family friend. I hadn't been born at the time, but they used to compete in ballroom and swing dancing competitions. I've only seen the photos, but the gang looked great! My grandfather had a couple of zoot (aka zuit) suits back then. :D
@animerulessodeal True words... Todays generations are listening hip-hop and stuff (in czech Republic at least) and i am the only one around here listening to this real music i think :)
You all think that this video is great, yeah? A cool idea, yeah? Wll whatcha said if I say that this video has a stolen idea from a Latvian musician Pete Anderson? that even have the same cam scenes and that video was done 1991 this is in 1999
@superearthbender As originally done by Louis Jordan and covered by Louis Prima, this sort of arrangement was called "Rhythm and Blues" till the name took on a larger scope of music. You can call it "proto-Rock'n'roll" since that's how the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame views it.
@therealjoebloggs I always called it Swing or Big Band, but not always finding what I wanted made me doubt my original assumption. Thank you for the info, it's highly appreciated. ^.^
Setzer pays homage to Big Band here. Check out his work wih the Stray Cats if you wanna know what Rockabilly is, and you don't know who Roy Orbison is.
If you can get your hands on the live performance of this song from his 2000 Japan tour, it will blow your socks off. That DVD is almost an hour and a half of virtuoso performances, including a section of trio work with him on guitar, Bernie Dressel on a drum set, and Mark Washington on slap bass.....freakin' outstanding!
Growing up with them in Massapequa in the late'70s early '80s were awesome days..All American Hamburger on Merrick Rd....THE hangout.Brian had a coral colored '57 Chevy that after awhile left a trail of blue smoke..who had money back then. One night the guys were playing at TK's in Amityville...the place was packed
and Brian was singing way to close to the mike..Every one was dancing and this guy backs right into the mike stand. SPLIT Brians lip open. Didn't even phase him.

This song is terrible. I changed the channel everytime it come on in 1998. I love the stray cats but I hate this and was glad when it finally went away.
it really bothers me that this is obviously a 50's inspired song, as you can see from mr. setzer's outfit and guitar, but everyone else is in 40's attire
@superhetoric Wouldn't say it's a 50's inspired song, atleast not late 50's. It's clearly got the swing-era feeling, by which I find that Brian is rather out of tune instead of the others...but it doesn't matter, he makes that up with his music :p
@superhetoric It's a cover of Louis Prima's "Jump Jive an' Wail", If you're gonna split hairs over the costume styling..then the pretty black chick would not be wearing such a super mini skirt. They took some liberty on it to make it look flashier.
Saw him do his Christmas special a few years ago in Redwood City, Ca. I had bought his Christmas DVD and when I heard he was going to perform had to go see him. Many of the songs on the DVD were performed at the show. And what a show!
