After the hot air balloon at the last, probably came the "Honda Jet", yet unannounced at the time, was the long dream of Soichiro.
His passion for motorization had always been inclusive of aviation as well, very
very difficult considering Japan's regulation etc, which practically had been to almost ban anything that fly, since end of WW2. (for fear of "Zero" some say)
The man passed away before seeing the final HondaJet going into service.
I partly agree, if you are into cars I can see your point but Honda was first a motorcycle manufacturer and Soichiro's DNA still runs through that side of the business strongly. They scrapped the F1 project but wouldn't scrap the Moto GP.
Honda was about taking risks, not playing it safe like it is now. You can look at what Soichiro Honda did. He took huge gambles to make it what he wanted it to be. Not to mention his strong focus on Motorsports.
Soichiro would be disappointed, it's okay though because we will always have the good memories.
@oscardriver I agree. However as of now the new CEO of Honda wants to bring back Honda's racing routes. The NSX replacement is due back and confirmed by Honda. So all hope is not lost..we just have to wait and see. Mind you it will never be what it used to be eg: 1989-2004.
Not many videos have 0 dislikes, that says it all.

FIY, that's the reason why all Honda Cubs and bikes carry the "Honda Wing" Logo. Going to the sky had always been Soichiro's dream since day one.

looking back at this ad now makes me almost cry.

Saw on Topgear mag that, once the CEO turned up driving a F1 car, for fans meeting. Only HONDA would have a CEO like that.
He sadly did all the killing, then passed the soulless remain of what was once Honda, to the successor.
All I can say is, WHY???
Never driven a Kia but wish them good luck for their success in motorsport.
Sure one day they can match what Honda did 50 years ago.
They entered Formula1 only after 4 years of making cars, building whole Engine, chassis, everything. and won.

... and the dream was impossible in the end ... right after this amazing series of commercials aired in the UK Honda:
• Killed out F1
• Killed the NSX - with NO REPLACEMENT
• Killed the S2000 - with NO REPLACEMENT
• Killed the Integra
• Killed the civic for the kids to have fun (look at the new '12 civic, KIA does better)
• Killed their current lineup design.
• Killed us all and our Honda enthusiast souls
*tears
