  • Wow Bert, You have more stuff on Your Desk then Obama has. The TSA is a Modern Day Gestapo. Google TSA at Roadblocks. TSA at Schools, Then see how many of the TSA have been caught Stealing from Passengers. These are PAID Government Agent's acting under the "Color" of the US Government's. We have entered 1984. Orson Wells would be rolling in his grave today. I see too where People with Electronic Devices LOOSE THEM, Like Laptops when entering the USA. Oh, It was not a RANT. It is TRUTH to be TOLD

  • @MountainMontanaMan A clean desk denotes a clean mind, I have neither. Very good points regarding TSA and the present police state we are living in.

  • the personal anecdote reveals much about what has changed so sadly in the heart of America - great presentation.

  • @bnfox I will always remember that bit of ingratitude by them. Sums up the governments' attitude toward all of us. A microcosm so to say.

  • I can see many sides to this issue. I had to give up a special bottle of maple syrup that I wanted to bring back from the first vacation ever in my life-- a week visit with my brother's family in Anchorage in 2007. My wife could not go along-- she had to work. My college girlfriend made the trip possible using her frequent flyer miles. They both thought that I deserved to visit my brother once in my lifetime.

We have a huge wealth gap in this country-- freedom and security are commodities.

  • @carefulcarpenter So it seems.

  • @bertly71 So it goes: I was judged by my peers in college and high school as a man of integrity, courage (heart) and gifted with talent; this meant to others that I would be a great success in life. My ambitions were varied. My college girlfriend came from a similar gene pool. I felt she deserved to advance in her life and career beyond the level her parents had achieved-- and via sports I learned much about myself and success. I do agree with her and some friends-- I could have become rich.

  • I kept a secret for 33 yrs: I never stopped loving that woman. She married a man who once owned Jessie Ventura's wrestling contract. My wife was in a wedding party paired-up with Jessie. The two women have crossed paths in many ways.

She came to me a few years after we split up to tell me she was getting married. It was one of those sticky situations where her plans were on, unless I had an objection. The hardest thing I ever had to do was to give my best friend and soul mate good wishes.

  • Another of my teammates called her office the day before the wedding and made a case for himself. I told her 33 years later that I wanted her life to be the best possible, and that I did what I felt was in the best of my best friend. Three years into the marriage, it was over. She told me I would be furious if I knew what he did to her.

That was not part of the deal-- she was supposed to live happily ever after.

She was the spokeswoman for a major airline. I am a rich handyman, I am.

  • She has traveled all over the planet, alone in this world. Her rich in-laws were less than accepting or loving. The world was her oyster.

She made sure I got to see my brother once. She is a great woman trapped in a selfish and hostile world, but she understands the sacrifices I've made for peace, liberty, and justice.

I come from the poorer side of the tracks; but I still fight for freedom and justice for the common man. This is the well-traveled path on my side of the tracks.

  • I don't fly.

  • @carefulcarpenter I do sparingly.

  • @bertly71 We make choices-- and we suffer consequences for those choices. We can choose to serve others, or we can chose to be served. I prefer to serve. Sounds like you made that choice yourself? I choose not to live in fear but to live in love.

My old girlfriend has chosen to serve-- she still works on flights. My wife serves in the deli. Your family risks life to serve mine-- thank you!

  • @carefulcarpenter Thank you so much for your kind words.

  • The TSA loves to confiscate stuff because they get to keep what they confiscate. I like the new camera Bert.

  • @IamTheAntiMartyr That was my impression. Thanks it is a logitech. I use quite a bit of their stuff, it is good quality.

  • Do they really think that they are going to quiet the dissent by detaining people like Rand Paul...I dont hink so...

  • @IamTheAntiMartyr They just made it even worse. I bet all Obama staff and cronys get a fre pass.

  • real humanitarians! what comes around goes around, i can only pray that they recieve the same kind of kindness in their future..!

  • @mtzlypk I believe in Karma.

  • At one point in my life I was almost employed in the TSA (I'm in the security field) and I'm VERY glad I never joined. I just can't be a person that treats others like cattle, and I'd end up losing my job over being too personal with people. The least someone could have done is just be like "I'll hang onto it, just give me a address I can send it to after work." ...I hate TSA so much...

  • @Shadowsolid Glad you did not, I am sure they would have outed you for being human.

  • That is shameful what they did to you. The disrespect they show toward veterans and acting members in the service... Disgusting. Truthfully, the only thing keeping me from saying that I am ashamed to call myself a citizen of the United States is Ron Paul and his family.

  • @thecinemaoferic Thank you very much for your kind comments.

  • Hey bertly.

I read a quote in the paper today you might get a kick out of.

"Taxation is the price we pay for failing to build a civilized society. The higher the tax level, the greater the failure."

  • @Tanarus20 I have not heard it said better, thanks for sharing.

  • I don't know you personally bartly but feel bad for what happened to you.. I think it comes down to "concern" for a brother, I think.. actual concern for a stranger that will benefit me in no way.. keep puttin' out the good word, man..

  • @Dewdaahman Thank you, your words are genuine and kind.

  • imagine if TSA and the USPS got together and when items were found that could not go on the plane then a USPS guy comes over with a box and a pen.. your item goes into the box, you address it (your address), pay the postage and your property is mailed back to your house..? how's that for cooporation between the agencies..? oops, sorry, I take that all back.. in order for that to ever happen people would need to care about other people.. on second thought, what a business to start, huh..?

  • @Dewdaahman I would have paid a premium for that service or tipped someone handsomely that offered me such a solution.

  • @bertly71 the way I look at it, through unfiltered eyes, is that "necessity is the Mother of Invention." the more I think about it, they would make it between very difficult and impossible to start such a business..

  • @Dewdaahman Tons of loopholes to jump through, permits, licenses, Insurance, bonding, etc. They would make it difficult.

  • the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.. Rand Paul stood his ground a refused a testicle massage and was detained (kidnapped) for his efforts..

  • @Dewdaahman A good gene pool.

  • right on! VOTE THOSE JOKERS OUT! byebyebomma!

  • @umajunkcollector That is our best option.

  • Thanks Bert. Seems like TSA could have been a bit more helpful considering your son is serving overseas...

  • @fal2grace Yes, it seems that empathy is not a valued trait for TSA employees.
